Apparently she recorded this song in the 90's. As far as I remember years ago it was among those DAT tapes that were on the auction. I bet it sounds divine!

So yesterday I was at a good friend of mine who likes Celine too and I said, did you know she has a new song? Oh , let me hear it! And I turned it on and he smirked with his face…Why does she sing so weird..so nasal..this is not pretty to listen to…I said, this is how she likes to sing nowadays. And he also said her pronounciation was really bad. As if she.not even took the effort to pronounce the words correctly.

Thank god celine album doesnt sound liek a throw back album who needs another all by myself and another my heart will go on.. Artists evolve and grown and change their sounds... I hate it when artist stay stuck in same pattern... People need to get over the fact that she is trying new things to fit her voice if you want old sounds listen to her old cd's... She is allowed to experiment and try new things i love the rasp in her voice.... I like her clean voice too... some just fit better with rasp other better sung clean I dont hear rasp in courage she sang it pretty clean so dont know what everybody is hammering about... Courage is a perfect celine dion ballad without any sia esc mimicing

 

No I am talking about that voice she is forcing , putting up, a sort of trying to sound modern with her voice but it is not pretty in the ears. The song itself, superwoman is okayish but the way she sings it is so cringy that I cannot listen to the whole song and skip it pretty fast.

I played the track for my bf and he turned it off half way through. Said it was too nasal and really unpleasant to listen to. I thought it might grow on me but I haven’t listed to it since the weekend it was released.

Together with any song she sings with this forced accent. What a disappointment. Esspecially knowing she can do so much better. I wish she took more effort in her new music , just as much effort she does wearing all these expensive designerclothes.

Read this little excerpt in People Magazine last week on Thursday. Interesting she says she's not done working with Celine yet. Not sure if she's referring to any specific project we don't know about yet. Or if she just means, generally speaking, she'll always work with Celine.

I tend to think Celine herself and also close people around her, think she sounds ''fresh'', ''current'' and ''soulful'' with that throaty and nasal ''Sia-meets-Rihanna-meets-Adele'' sound... when in fact it just sounds plain bad in my humble opinion. On studio recordings, I know she could still sound ''clear'', ''open'' and ''powerful'' like she did on her albums from 2002 and 2003 if she'd want to. A few weeks ago while on vacation with my family, I tried to relocate that concert video on Youtube (where I have watched it before in the past,) & unfortunately I found it has been REMOVED! Yes the bastards @ Youtube have DELETED MILLENIUM CONCERT! 😥💔

 

It was such a bummer too... & was there ever a VHS tape or DVD released of it? If so I want to find it... If not, that is awful & I would like to watch it again... I thought it was a great concert, even if her voice was not "perfect"... I dont know WHY her team do not bother to RELEASE her concerts instead of keeping them LOCKED AWAY, I just do not understand how they think!

I must be the only one enjoying the recorded version of TSMGO. I mean, she sounds so raw and emotional but at the same time defiant. I think they deliberately didn't work on the song too much and wanted it to be true to thevway she felt at the time.

It is not her voice here but the production of the vocals in the instrumental mix. And even that instrumental arrangement was far from her beautiful Vegas version. The vocal did not sit well in the mix. Not what you would expect from a production at her standards.

I don't know why fans are in need of a emotional song, you already got Courage. It's enough tears, I guess. What I'm looking for is, stuff like Loved Me Back To Life, I Surrender which will make them go wow. Sure we got Lying Down for that, but I want one with a alleged music video and promotion. Otherwise Celine should stop her career cause she is doing no good to Rene or us. And for Superwoman, she really didn't deliberately used that kind of voice, because she never used that kind of voice for Imperfections.

 

I guess Celine has stopped her warmups and exercise for vocals.

What are we getting nowadays? Even Mariah is doing more work than Celine. It's not really the age or her era that is the problem. It's her and her team.

I think good songs are very hard to come by, and ABBA has the added factor of nostalgia and good feelings that almost no other band in history has. It's like if Celine actually retired after Let's Talk About Love and released a new album in 2040.

 

So, I think judging each release to what ABBA is doing right now is a bit unfair. But I agree with the general spirit of wanting to be knocked out by a Celine song, breathtaken.

Has anyone of you heard the new Abba songs? Now that is quality and they stay true to their sound. Not trying to sound modern but just giving their fans that timeless sound. What a difference with Celine nowadays. I wished she gave her fans those timeless songs with the way she used to sing those songs. That is what most fans want to hear, classic Celine, not Celine wanting to sound like Sia or whoever. Those Abba songs gave me really goosebumps and tears. Have to wait to have Celine that effect on me.

Yes! I was amazed at how Abba nailed their classic sound all these years later. Really wonderful. I adore them.

 

I also crave that classic / signature Celine voice. We get glimpses of it when she sings live (The Prayer, etc.) and on the occasional studio song. But Celine has taken a very clear detour from her classic 80s / 90s sound in recent years. I hope she finds her way back to it. Celine can evolve as an artist and still sound beautiful / more like herself.

 

You hit the nail on the head by using the word "timeless", because that's what Celine's best songs have always been... and she's still reaping the benefits of creating that kind of music by continuing to sell out concerts to this day. I'd personally love for Celine to make more songs like To Love You More again, but I also understand that some fans want a more modern sound. I think there's a way to achieve both. Ashes, for instance, is a more modern sounding song but Celine also sounds great. It's much more in line with the Celine Dion sound everyone loves.

 

I've wondered if she just got a bit fed up by the ongoing pressure to sound / be "perfect" all the time, as indicated in the Superwoman lyrics. So she's tried to redefine her sound to suit more casual / imperfect vocal deliveries instead of holding onto her title as a vocal goddess.... even though she's still very capable of sounding pristine when she really wants to. As we all know, Eg White, Adele, Sia, Linda Perry, and LP all serve as inspiration for this newer Celine sound, whereas she used to be inspired by Barbra and Whitney.

 

I think us longtime, hardcore fans are are completely understanding of Celine's aging voice and how she'll have to adjust to what her voice is today -- but that's entirely different than her choosing to sound a certain way when she's still capable of sounding so beautiful. She clearly enjoys the power / freedom by pushing against her signature sound in the recording studio these days. It seems to empower her by delivering a more raw vocal rather than a pristine one.

 

But, again, I do hope she finds her way back to signature voice that we all fell in love with.

 

I'm very thankful Celine still possesses such a powerful voice after all these years. I don't take that for granted. I'm hopeful for more vocal deliveries like Wicked Game, Ashes, How Does A Moment Last Forever, etc... where Celine sounds like Celine.... or, at least, she sounds really good.

Wow. Y'all may want to reevaluate your relationships. It takes work to surround yourself with people who love Celine, but it's totally worth it.
