I keep thinking about how complicated it must be to put on any kind of show considering her condition. She can’t handle too much stress with a big schedule, for obvious reasons. But putting on a big show, as her audience is used to, costs a lot. Plus, with SPS, the insurance for her concerts is probably as high as it can get. With a small number of dates, they will barely break even. They might go for higher ticket prices, but there’s a limit to how high they can go.

 

Would they create a small, intimate type of show to cut costs? Maybe push hard on the merchandise? Or offer an expensive meet and greet? It will be interesting to see.

Tickets for New Kids On The Blocks new Vegas residency have just gone on sale and decent seat prices and packages are ridiculous.

 

I can see a lot of fans having a melt down trying to get tickets for Céline, nevermind being able to afford them lol.

I know Celine really wants to get back to performing — because it’s what she loves. But there are so many other ways of enjoying her career. From fashion to focusing on albums to making appearances etc

 

I would love it if she just did some taped concerts - one night only events - in the coming years. Perhaps to promote the albums.

 

She could just have fun and take the pressure off herself to perform regularly. But she’s a very strong-willed person, so if getting back to the Vegas stage is what she wants then that’s what she’ll do. And she probably wants to get her band/team up and running again since they depend on her for employment.

Most artists don’t live in Vegas though, and I know that Céline didn’t either but they invested so much in the whole ‘A New Day…’ project (they built the entire Colosseum!) that it couldn’t really have been a short term thing. With Vegas being Céline’s home now, she is pretty much on a permanent residency there.

This is why her Vegas engagements are so impressive. Demand was high for almost 5 years of non-stop performances and then another 6 years of constant performances.

 

People will study her residencies in years to come, not only because she instigated the modern phenomenon of residency based performance but also for her own, individual achievements in Vegas, which are historic. In one city, she has grossed almost $700m and that is simply, extraordinary.

 

Acts today, with their 50 shows over 3 years nonsense, just don’t compare - the likes of Lady Gaga, Adele, Usher and Bruno Mars really need to pull their fingers out!

It was talked about an announcement about shows this year, while the shows will most likely take place next year. It is indeed too late for shows this year.
