Meaning the extended version from the special edition of the album? That wasn't just for the US me thinks

She will be performing “toxic” in support of the free Britney movement in her show next month. So we’re on topic. :)

I bought the “ANDHC” album in the UK and forgot to pack it for Vegas in 2005 so bought a copy at the Céline store and the U.S version was different and a certain part of that version is beautiful so I prefer that version :)

It’s crazy we are so close to this venture and there has been no public mention in recent weeks. What’s going on guys?

I don't know. It's almost as if they actively avoid building up any excitement, they don't even mention the show in passing.

I'm still not 100% sure this is all going ahead as planned. Though it's getting on the late side to just cancel the show now, so there's that...

Ahh yes. For the re-edition. The original was the same everywhere. That part really did enhance it.

I know we've moved on from this discussion but I just want to reply to this. I'll say my peace at leave it at that.

Thank you for pointing that out. Yes, Rihanna's fans have been hounding her about her new release. Why? Because all fans want musical releases from their favourite artists. But I guess it's only "demanding" when Celine fans do it. And the point I was making was to refute the factually incorrect comparison that people are disingenuously making about Rihanna disappearing....I'm sorry what? Rihanna never disappeared, she explored many parts of her brand and her identity as an artist WHILE maintaining an active, personal presence on social media that connected fans and left them wanting even more. Celine has, at times, done the same thing and fans ate it up.

And the issues with Celine's presence with the fans go back over a decade at this point. All anyone has to do, if they actually care about the facts, is to go back and read old threads on this forum about releases and promises. People can feel however they want about that, but like I said, these conversations are happening among Celine fans on totally different parts of the internet that are separated from each other. If you're on Twitter / Instagram / Facebook or other forums, you would see that. Lord knows I didn't invent it, so don't shoot the messenger. ***

***notice I am not making any claims about what I as a person want from Celine. Instead, I am calling out the situation as I see it.

The original discussion began because Nmj made a speculative claim that because Celine doesn't post a certain type of content on social media that it's because she doesn't care about her fans and then called anyone that would oppose his opinion as #ss kissers before anyone even replied to him. The counter argument made is that we can't force her to do anything and that not liking social media does not prove she doesn't care about her fans because an artist putting out content for fans to purchase is a form of showing love to their fans, specifically when it comes from a well established veteran artist who we know is not making as much from new material and she is still doing so.

You bringing up Rihanna's social media presence despite not releasing any new content doesn't really negate the point I made. Do you think if her fans were happy just having her on social media regularly they would be begging for new music? Or do you think they would rather she release new music even if it's at the expense of her posting on social media? Rihanna doesn't post to sm just because she loves her fans, she does it for the same reason any random person that likes using social media does it...because they like it and because it helps her sell her brand. I would argue that the fact Celine is still on social media at all when she doesn't like it is more proof that she does it because she cares about her fans more so than Rihanna. It's interesting that you praise Rihanna for using her platform to post more about her fashion and beauty projects than anything music related but the moment Celine posts too many fashion pictures, promotes her bag/childrens clothing line, or pictures in nature fans on this forum start getting angry because they don't want her to do anything other than post music related things. And I am specifically talking about in this forum, on twitter/IG fans tend to get excited and are more supportive of general content as long as it's not stupid power point slides or recycled things.

Rihanna fans begging her for new content isn't demanding because she hasn't released anything new music related since 2016. Celine in the same time has released 2 albums, done three summer tours, one world tour, and is starting a second Vegas residency. We may not like the production or pronunciation of a song, or debate on what her show should be like, or if she needs to be more creative, etc., but at least we have music related things to discuss.

But again, the discussion began because someone claimed Celine didn't care about her fans all because she didn't use social media enough and how she should be doing things just for the passion of singing (I guess all artists should just work for free, filmmakers should make movies for the art of it and theaters should not charge for the movies because of that. Rihanna should give away her beauty products and clothing for free too cause it's her passion and she has lots of money). Had the argument made just been that they wished Celine would use social media more then no one would be disagreeing cause we all would love that. And no one disagrees with the fact that her team sucks at managing her social media.

Social media isn't Celine's content outlet (but it can & should be a promotional outlet), she doesn't have to put out things there for us to consume no matter how much we wish it, and no one has a right to demand that Celine use her personal time to please fans if she doesn't want to. And to say that Celine isn't allowed to be completely off and disconnected from social media just because she's a celebrity is not only very demanding but also the very definition of entitlement.

It's 3 weeks and 3 days away to be exact. This isn't even a "Rene isn't here" issue cause promoting a new show is the most basic thing to expect. Not even RW is putting in any effort, are they already on the verge of being out of business?

Edit: the post above, oh lord. Things are not going well for RW.

It really is quite odd. Such an awesome promo commercial involving all of their performers...and now...silence. And yes, we all know Celine is not full force on the promo train, but RW being this quiet does surprise me. I had definitely been wondering if the silence meant a cancellation was coming, but seeing as her band members from all different parts of the world started arriving in Vegas this past weekend for rehearsals, I guess it is true that "the show must go on".

Fingers crossed that at the very least, RW's social media starts up more promotion within a week or so. I think this resort does have some work cut out for them being so far off at the end of the strip. They need to step up their game if they want to succeed.

Why are you so damn negative? I’ve been on this forum for 20+ years and left because of the drama here.. I see nothing has changed.

Let’s be thankful she’s still performing period. She’s made her millions and could live out the rest of her life with her family and be perfectly content.

So can we get back on topic with Vegas??

Did anyone see the latest IG post from Eric Tewalt? 6fb2d40ab0bad10f12e4c5cc0c4a9ac1.jpg

I wonder if this means they’re doing TSMGO…

Perhaps not? I'm wondering about the orange letters....what the full phrase actually reads. Anyone know if orange letters were used in anything? Maybe a different Queen cover (assuming Queen plays into it....)?

Interesting.....

I'm still not convinced that's what it spells out lol. But given her love of the song...I wouldn't be surprised either. It's a great song, don't get me wrong, but I'm ready for something else lol.

Look at her last album, there are songs that would really work on stage! And if she is such a Sia fan, then show it! Heart of glass or Lying Down, or do a ballet with Adam Smith live on screen..

And to say that Celine isn't allowed to be completely off and disconnected from social media just because she's a celebrity is not only very demanding but also the very definition of entitlement.

There are many crossing wires and threads about this general discusion about Celine's output, whether it be purely for her career or the fans. The point is that if Celine does what she does only for money and her career, she could do it better. If she only does what she does to please the fans, she could also do it better.

In general, it is way healthier to show praise AND criticism. Those fans---both on the forum and elsewhere, which some people on this forum like to ignore for some reason--who criticise Celine almost always show praise in other areas. I am one of them. Then there are those who almost never have a bad word to say about Celine or her team, especially in light of how other artists carry out their careers. Yes, younger and older artists than Celine.

So, what NMJ says about a**k*ssers is a crude way of saying sycophants. And it is much healthier to be realistic and fair-minded than a sycophant.

And about Rihanna, the point is that people who defend Celine's absence and hiding say that other artists have disappeared as well. But actually, they have not. Rihanna was busy building a business empire, among many other things---and she brought fans along for the ride in a STRATEGIC way. There is nothing strategic about Celine's approach. And fans are left with many theories as to why she behaves how she does, which ends up being quite hilarious.

And also, a much smaller section of the fanbase would be sh*tting on Celine if she was busy expanding other avenues and carrying out other artistic endevours while music gets put on hold or is subpar. If Celine was building a business empire and starring in movies, launching fashion shows, etc. she would have way more of an excuse/explanation as to her and her team's behavior. And then you would actually be right to call fans 'demanding'.

Instead, in Celine world fans get excited about the rediscovery of a phone interview Celine did with a newspaper months ago.

Well, rehearsals have started (yesterday), and if they’re rehearsing every day, 4 full weeks of prep is actually quite a lot for pro, largely classically-trained musicians playing pop songs, so I’ve got to believe they’re doing more than simply rehashing CWT.

Note the band - at least those we know of on social media - seem to have done minimal posting since arriving in Vegas, so I wonder if they’re under orders (or at least requests) not to.

Can anyone provide the social media accounts for the band / crew members you guys are referring to? I feel like they’re our best shot to get inside info / glimpses.

Philippe Dunnigan and Jenny Elfving I know have arrived in Vegas due to social media posts they have made. Philippe mostly uses Facebook, not Instagram. Jenny comes all the way from Sweden so my confidence went up that the show has every intention to go on when I saw she had finally arrived in Vegas. :)

+ others mentioned or quoted throughout this thread - Judy Kang, Eric Tewalt, Jeff Smallwood, Nathan Tanouye, Yves Labonte, Kaven, Barnev, Dawn & Elise (though they rarely post), previously Naomi, Pepe & Sydney (though who knows whether they're still around), Denise Truscello, Shari Weber are also good accounts to follow. In that light, it's probably a good thing there's no plan for flying pianos in this show! (As far as we know, at least...)

Forget cirque-style flying Celine, just keep her safe on that stage first & foremost!
