I seriously wonder what they are waiting for with the release of this MV. Releasing it on Valentines Day doesn’t make any sense since it talks about a toxic relationship, so when are they going to release it? Releasing it for Spring or Summer would also be weird, since it’s kind of dark and dramatic. Will it ever be released? Seems like it was supposed to be the first single, she shot a MV, performed it on Carpool Karaoke and on tour, and then all of sudden all the plans changed and it was taken out of the setlist.

 

They will never release it, along with EUS music video and those Phil Spector’s unreleased tracks. They’re now safe in an iron vault, somewhere deep in Sony’s dungeon. Someday the world will end, the nuclear war, asteroid impact or alien attack will destroy the whole world, and on judgement day, you will ask God that you want to see those MV and tracks.

I like the proposed theory that her Mars setup looked too much like Hell, so TC/Sony decided to nix it to prevent further damage to her public image.

 

There were already wild rumours circulating (however ridiculous) that she became a Satan worshipping card-carrying member of the Illuminati after her deal with Celinenunu. While absurd, even the most devoted fan can not deny the “witchy” imagery of at least one of the Courage album photos (the one where she’s standing in a circle of fire). Not to mention that Céline was also looking extremely malnourished at the time, and the media was noticing that. (A couple of my friends saw pictures of Céline from Fashion week and asked me if she was ill. Like, they were genuinely concerned.)

 

There’s no evidence to prove either of these reasons is why they scrapped the “Lying Down” video —perhaps the footage just turned out awful— but it’s as good a guess as any.

Good point. Maybe they wanted to visualize, that she "gone through hell" in that relationship.

I personally think that they seen our forum members video for the song just after they filmed it and were embarrassed at how s*** their video was in comparison.

 

It does majorly f*** me off though as these three songs all get teased first, all had videos shot and in my opinion the best of the three had the video shelved.

 

Let’s not forget the courage video dropped in November, so they still had 4 months to release another video before the pandemic took hold.

 

Pure laziness, there is no other excuse.

You know, I don’t believe that the video turned out bad, because if they really wanted to release Lying Down as a single, they would release the concert performance as the official video. I think it’s about releasing the song as a single that is an issue.

You're probably right.

 

What would be the issue with releasing Lying Down as a single though? It's a great choice for a single, and it should have been the first single out of the three songs she released last fall. It's a great song, and with some promotion it might have done really well.

Maybe after the unexpected success of Imperfections they want to go into that modern fashionist yet imperfect direction, rather than heavy ballads. Or they saw that LD didn’t really catch fire and so it was also ditched from the tour

Lying down was received much better in the UK than in the U.S and Imperfections never really went down well at all in the UK but was still released and the video was released worldwide too, so still not a good enough reason in my eyes.

 

I honestly think Lying Down could have been the next TT in the UK with a video and a bit of promo. Still not too late in my eyes if they get off their arses and do what they are paid for.

 

She hasn’t done one proper interview with anyone from home since March just to check in for a fun chat... it’s just weird. Unless I missed the announcement that she’s officially on a year off or something lol.
