Today was the official 'Courage' Listening Party in Madrid. It took place at the Sony Music Spain building in Madrid. The interesting thing is that, before the deluxe version of the album album started playing, they showed an exclusive EPK with Céline talking about the songs from the album.

 

It was filmed in last month in Montreal, when Céline gave all those promotional interviews about the World Tour. It will probably be on her VEVO channel this weekend!

 

Did she talk about all the songs or just some?

Didn't get to watch it until now, and wow, what a beautiful video. Powerful, visually striking, with some real artistry and emotional depth. Perfect for the song and exactly what was called for.

 

I've got to laugh at all these comments saying it's "cheap and boring". That's like watching something like Roma and complaining there are no explosions and transformers. The sparse visual approach is the point.

You don't need a massive production number to be gripping or to make a statement. And this does both beautifully. As has already been said, sometimes less is more, and there's no better song for that kind of minimalist treatment than this one.

 

A shame really, because they could’ve really made that song special; they should’ve showed Celine sitting there in that room with a huge projection on the wall showing René and her life through video.

I love the video but I would have loved to see a few scenes of Celine doing some ballet. It would have tied perfectly I think.

I seriously that they would have used the ballet video shown on tour.

On this I'm in agreement. That's really the only fault here I can point to.

 

Why does she have to speak French when promoting Eng material.

Because it's what sets her apart and makes her interesting and original? We're living in a time when people add accents to their names to appear exotic. All she has to do is be herself.

I’m NOT kidding. I think the video is poor and needed SOMETHING more, be it footage or her and René or an actual story line to the video but in my opinion it’s a lot of nothing; the song is simple but not that simple. The best part is the latex in my opinion :/

I have no idea actually, I couldn't attend the event. I guess we'll find out in a few days if they post it on her VEVO channel. But since the interview wasn't filmed at the recording studio, I fear that we won't have recording sessions this time :cry:

at 2: 34 when the climax comes.. there is nothing, she is just walking and doing some artistic hand movements in front of that screen.I get the emotions, but don't tell me there was no other concept to think of. Also technically it bothers me that the transitions are not smooth at all.

It's because Imperfections was all over the media with the "Céline with no makeup" tagline. This video made no such impact.

The Courage video imo doesn't make the song any justice, but the live performance takes this song to another level.

 

Only after I've heard her singing it live I've managed to have this strong connection with this song

so for the last month I've found myself humming this song all the time.

I don't know if I mentioned when we first got the three new songs, but Courage was my favorite. Beautiful, love the lyrics, emotional. Great song. Although I loved Imperfections & it was 2nd best at the time to me, I did think it was the best single option. And I think it would've done better if she promoted it and sang it on live shows (still might but looks like it is more likely going to be courage since she released the video around the same time as her TV appearances - makes sense.) Imperfections did roughly a million views in the first 2 days. it started off much better - even if it died recently. Unless courage, the live performances and such, end up helping. I'm not sure it will do much, honestly for this song.
