You do realise this is what it did sound like in person (as clearer videos show) we just kept posting the same drowned out poor audio clip that made it sound more resonant

Not to mention that its not only intentional rasp, but the point is that its supposed to be raw. Thats what the song requires, ala the strainy mess of all by myselfs high note in the studio and in the 90s live... it requires that gritty, raw, pain filled singing..... Id much rather hear this than the vocals on the TOKYO dvd or TCWT CD/DVD

Yet it still have reverb on that strainy high note of all by myself.. it’s not dry vocals

The all by myself high note is probably the driest vocal shes ever done.... dont get me started on how dry they were live

The dryness was intentional. Her voice in Vegas was in great shape at the time. She was doing this as a technical and artistic choice same way she did for That’s Just the Woman in Me

No, it’s not. It’s wet lol. You can still hear the reverbs and delays to that high notr in studio version.

I think you’re talking about the live version.

You hear the reverb when the drums drop and when she goes down to the C5... the very beginning before the drums hit its drier than the desert

No, it’s not. You thought it’s dry because it’s strained highs. But the reveeb is still there. You can even hear the delays on that high note. The live version is the one that is dry.

Let’s compare :)

Wow, she really pushed that last note! She definitely brought her "That's Just the Woman In Me" voice, but I think it's going to work in this case. We'll see. Looking forward to the full thing.

I feel another iconic Celine performance for the books coming.

She was the only one to get 2 standing ovations, and people that attended the recording praised her.

Listened to the clip....not crazy about all those dried up high belts. Not as smooth and like she's had to push too hard. Hate this type of shows, the vocals are so raw. It would have sounded amazing in the theatre or an arena, but when you isolate everything and layer it on top....this is the result. Would it have killed to put a bit of rever on to give it a warmer, full sound

Why so negative??   Even before watching??? :shifty: :shifty: :shifty: :giggle:

🤯 she is singing her #ss off here. She’s feeling it and going for it. Raw is good.

Variety review - https://variety.com/...ute-1203159719/

"Runner-up for “best note” is a tough one here — maybe a tie between Yolanda Adams, Celine Dion and Fantasia, who gets the very last word, under the end credits.

[...]

As other included white chicks go, no one is going to accuse Dion of giving a laid-back performance, but her rendition of “A Change is Gonna Come” also does R&B right. And if anyone is questioning why you’d pick a French-Canadian to sing an anthem that is going to be set against a backdrop montage of 1960s civil-rights still images… yes, it’s counterintuitive, and yes, as the reaction shots reveal, it somehow completely works. (Dion’s strange but wonderful dress is sort of a redemptive message unto itself… all severe Good Friday black on top and a yellow Easter lily below the waist.)"

So how was she? My mom who isn’t a huge fan said she sounded great (but looked terrible/skinny 😢)
