Yeah but don't you think they would want to capitalize on her being there (this is just speculation I know nothing)?

 

I like the possibility of it being a surprise but this is so huge if true not sure could keep it under wraps.

 

A few billion people will watch this whether she's involved or not. And more still via various catch-up services, replays and on social media afterwards. It's not really the sort of thing they need to pre-announce to draw an audience.

 

The best moments of these ceremonies - the the most replayed ones - are often the surprise elements (think flame lighting, every time!)

 

And yes, it can absolutely be kept under wraps. Take London 2012 for instance. Even those of us involved in the opening had no idea about e.g. Mr Bean playing Chariots of Fire, or the "Queen" jumping out of a helicopter with James Bond. And that's after countless hours spent on the site and months of rehearsals. Yeah, we saw helicopters circling overhead from time to time, but until the actual ceremony very few knew what that was actually about. If they can keep that under wraps, a single-song performance is nothing.

Paris Olympics are sounding truer by the day, seems like French reports are rolling in that Céline and Aya Nakamura are set to be there. Céline is reportedly getting paid 2 million euro and Aya 700,000 euro. This is all just reports , have to just wait for confirmation.

Let’s hope it’s true, as Scielle said the poetic justice the Olympics return would be so ironic on so many avenues for Celine. Being, it’s in France… her struggle with a physical illness and overcoming the adversity (which is what the Olympics embodies), and to make not a splash of return but a tsunami on the world scale, that states “hey I’m back, take note”. If her return is imminent and she’s capable of coming back to the stage in the next year or so this really is the way to do it.

I hope she does do it just wish we did not know how much getting can see as other have said how that could cause controversy.

Agreed, it has caused some discourse on Twitter between the French. Most of them upset at Macron for using 2.7 mil of tax payer money to pay for performers.

Exactly, anything political will be pulled apart! I think more people will be happy around the world if she does perform than those that don’t.

 

In politics, things are forgotten so quickly anyway.

I don’t really think so, or it would be a small faction. She’s well accepted in France, and even those who don’t particularly care for her acknowledge she’s a globally recognized champion of the French language. They didn’t make her the Chevalier de l'Ordre des arts et des lettres for nothin’

Pocketing a large sum of taxpayer money for an appearance fee at a time of supposed austerity would be optically much more problematic.

On this one, I don’t agree, Céline is Canadian indeed but viewed in France as a French treasure. 😍 Her records still sell very well here, her shows are numerous and sold out, and she is very much talked about in the media (of course with some fun but much respect too).

 

However, we, French, complain about anything and everything. So the complaining thing, da yes I agree with you 😆

Yes. But the question remains, why?

Unless they archived everything like some artists do when a new “era” is approaching, but they only choose a selective amount of posts and the best and most personal content at that.

Personally I’ve given up asking “why” over and over again — because, like you said, there are never responses or answers given. And frankly, who are we to demand an answer? Not from her team, and certainly not from each other!

 

We will never know why PLMALS was shelved (forever?), or why there aren’t any new concert releases, or what drugs her social media team is taking…

 

I’ve found the inner peace that comes from accepting that I will never understand it. I believe we can ALL find that peace by learning to let go and move on with our lives 💙

It was a rhetorical question. I know we will never know the reason, the Instagram thing never made sense. I wasn’t loooking for an answer when I asked that.

Well if they haven’t responded to the massive outpouring of demand from her fanbase regarding PMLALS, then I doubt we’ll hear about her social media strategy anytime soon.

 

As for the insta posts, I thought we concluded it had something to do with the doc/trailer being released - because of the timing. Maybe will know more in a few weeks!

I can confirm that there is no expanded edition being released and that it is not legit. It's the user who created the page own streaming playlist.

For a new album release, it was ANDHC, and it was tiny and opaque on the spine of the CD case. You could barely see it. They did however use it on UPDN compilation.
