Random news, thoughts and common questions about Celine (closed)

I heard an interview with Lady Gaga where she said she doesn't want to release a duet she and Cher did together because they recorded it separately and it took away from the quality.

I always wondered if it would've sounded better if Celine/Babs recorded "Tell Him" in the same studio session, maybe we would've gotten something a little warmer and different in someway, who knows.

I don’t believe that this is the real reason why she doesn’t want to release it. Probably it doesn’t suit her current sound, or a connection to Chair would be super weird in her career right now, so she went with the hip Ariana Grande. But people know about it so now she needs an excuse for not releasing it.

So here is the short background about “Tell Him”.

“ On March 24, 1997, Dion became the first artist ever to perform twice on the same Academy Awards night. In addition to singing "Because You Loved Me," she also sang "I Finally Found Someone" from the movie The Mirror Has Two Faces, recorded by Barbra Streisand and Bryan Adams. Streisand preferred not to perform that night and Natalie Cole had been scheduled to sing her song instead. But Cole pulled out and two days before the Oscar night, Dion was asked if she could do it. Although nervous, she accepted and managed to perform on the night.

A few days later, Streisand sent Dion flowers and a note: "I watched the tape afterwards, you sang my song beautifully and I regret I wasn't in the room to hear you, next time let's make one together. I really wish your song would have won, you are a wonderful singer". That note wasn't left without an answer and René Angélil called up David Foster to write a song for them, and the result was "Tell Him". Citing Streisand as one of her most prominent idols, Dion had always wanted to sing with her but feared getting too close to her idol, explaining, "It takes practically nothing to destroy your image of them. And just as little to crush you".

A radio version of the song was commissioned. It is also under the same clock length as the album version. The radio edit features a high-frequent flute playing during Dion's bridge.

Streisand was first introduced to Dion's music several years earlier, by tennis player Andre Agassi.”

Now, I am curious of the radio edit version of this song.

Celine on catwalk for Chanel (1996) and even Trump appears (he is everywhere, scary).

This is the clip that got me into investigating Céline’s activities at the Mar-a-Lago!

So I started watching TTEOTW in hd yesterday and (sorry but) after the first 20 minutes I decided to change the disc and instead watch the full Boston concert. The documentary was just too boring. Seeing her goofing around and singing into her shoes on stage was just not interesting.

About the viewing experience of the concert: I had to force myself to watch the first half of the Boston concert. The lipped hits and fake expressions were terrible to watch. It wasn't entertaining. But the second half, when she started singing Alone and The Prayer gave me chills and reminded my why I am still her fan. I like when she is natural. I had the impression that during the first half of the show she was just solely focused on how she looks wanted to come accross as the hot sexbomb in the pink dress, which totally took the audiences and even her own focus from her biggest hits, their sentiment and meaning. All the magic of the songs was not there. But that came back in the second half.

It's interesting to reflect on watching this since I haven't watched it in a very long time. I'm really excited to read your opininions and experiences as well. Also, I realised that I, as a fan, am totally interested in seeing her and her team in action thinking, creating, discussing, and not just goofing around all the time.

Um, well you should know that this interview was years back. She said the track wasn't high quality enough, in part because they didn't record together.

That's interesting. I find both of them rather boring, maybe in Boston's case because the post-production they put on her vocals just wears me out. But sex bomb...interesting...because that pink dress she wore is nothing special. Now that you mention it, I wonder if she does find herself attractive lol...she certainly acts that way based on her body suit stage movements in the Courage tour.

It's just odd because her songs are rather matronly on the whole. I think "Eyes on Me" can be done in a sultry way, but can't think of others atm.

Her pink outfit during TCWT was so sexy. It really suits her great figure. The one on Courage Tour, the red dress (the current one) looks ehhhhh. I think the first red dress back in Sept 18 2019 was better.

She should not wear sexy outfits when singing her classic emotional ballads. It just doesn’t fit and outshines the songs too much. She should look „slutty“ during fun uptempo numbers :D Edited by ryba

Did anyone see Celine’s pride playlist 2020 on Spotify? Do we think she actually chose those songs herself?

There were some sufficiently obscure, and ofc some in French, that make me think it’s possible.

Is it a good playlist?

Yeah I always wonder if it’s something she took the time to do or does one of her team really do it. Oh well, the world will never know.
I have had the time of my life following this woman! Much love.

I'm convinced whoever does it is not the same person running her Instagram account.

I'm pretty sure Celine uses Spotify, probably even more so now with this downtime.

She knows more than some of you may think! :giggle:

What I meant was, if someone else created the playlist, it wasn't the same as her IG person. I very well think she could've created it! But indeed we will never know until it gets reported.

Oh she's definitely plugged in I believe. I just don't know why she denies it so much.

Not sure if Spotify has the same exact playlist, but here’s her YouTube Pride playlist. Not half bad. I was thinking it could actually have her fingerprints on it...

Yes, it's exactly the same! Might be missing one or two, but it's the same. I thought the same, thanks to the Serge/Mylene/Scissor Sisters/Pierre Kwendi....

Never imagined Celine might be listening to Camila Cabello these days lol. Mika was also a surprise..but I can totally hear Celine singing that song in a car in her falsetto voice or at a random moment.

Hey guys, here is something that I have discovered, and being a Celine fan, I find singing techniques quite interesting, so I thought you guys might enjoy it as well. Her channel is really good and she offers free professional tutorials and also reacts to singers. It would be pretty cool if we would get her to react to a Celine video!
