Is Melania Trump Channeling Celine Dion? Beyonce?

The first lady is wearing quite the hat.

 

Is she channeling French Canadian songbird Celine Dion? Vengeful diva Beyonce in Lemonade? Or Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface, as some social media users have suggested?

First lady Melania Trump stepped out in quite the statement hat on Tuesday in Washington D.C., welcoming French president Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte to the White House. Trump paired the white wide-brimmed topper with an asymmetrical belted white dress by Michael Kors, as first reported by CNN’s Kate Bennett, for a look that read fashion outlaw.

The spotlight is on Trump this week as she fulfills the first hostess role, welcoming the Macrons for a state visit and the administration’s first state dinner tonight.

The hat was an odd choice but one that spoke volumes; for one, first lady Trump seems determined not to come across as a victim in the wake of the tawdry allegations against her husband. She is the proverbial lady in white, the innocent, perhaps, in the Washington, D.C. s*** storm. The hat was also a reminder of her fashion chops, that she’s not afraid to stand out from the crowd in a $51,500 Dolce & Gabbana coat that costs more than what many Americans take home in a year, or to buck tradition and wear European designers while serving in the role of American first lady.She did just that on Monday, when she appeared in another outlaw look, a Dolce & Gabbana black tuxedo cape, when first greeting the French couple and welcoming them to town. Traditionally an after-5 look, the tuxedo cape during the daytime also made her stick out from the rest of the Washington crowd. (A superhero cape?) She wore the cape over a black Givenchy dress that put her famous legs on parade. The outfit was a little Melania (Dolce & Gabbana), a little French (Givenchy) and a little subversive, suggesting that all is not as it seems in America’s house.

We’ll see what she chooses for tonight’s state dinner.

I remember before that melania trump wants Annie Horth to be her stylist. I remember it was mentioned here in this forum before..

I'm watching the making of 1 Fille and 4 Types, and all I can think of is, that whatever she does next... I hope she has as much fun doing it.

She had concept for that album, a team of people all going in the same direction... They knew what they were doing. that’s what’s missing in her albums lately.

I was watching this video from her last tour, as usual suprised by how great she is. This last song was incredible. My French is now good enough to understand the lirics, however at 5:00 she says that she loves something or someone. I didn't quite understand what she said, could anyone please help me? Thanks a bunch

I can't believe they wrote a caption under Céline's photo that says "Céline Dion performs in Nice, Italy"!!

When did Nice move to Italy?? :-D

Jesus, it only took NINE DAYS for her to record TAST in Miami!!! I didn’t know that. And the result was (as usual back in those days) absolutely impeccable and perfect!

 

And she also recorded SSDA that year. She was absolutely a machine recording perfect songs in one take in the studio! :wub:

 

9 days guys... Phewww! That’s quite impressive to say the least. And look at us now, waiting for albums that are 2+ years in the making! How come?

I don’t think they book a studio for her for a whole week (for example) anymore. So she’s recording over several months. Also, they keep receiving songs rather than deciding on all songs beforehand. Lastly, having one or two producers for the whole album, and not four or five, makes it easier to get the recording done over 1-2 weeks. Easier to organise them to be available etc. It’s the same for D’eux surely? That must have been only a short recording time too.

Dont forget that 85% of TAST was already released / covered songs. She only really had to work on maybe 2 or 3 new songs where as things like Adeste Fideles or O Holy Night could be an in and out quickly done recording as its already there waiting. Im sure SSDA was recorded early that year and part of late 97. It is impressive how she recorded it during a world tour however it was probably recorded when Celine was in between legs. I feel that she tries to record DURING vegas runs rather than in between them now which yes is silly but its how it happens

At the time, Céline was the TOP priority so everyone made themselves available when Sony said so.

It doesn't work that way anymore. No more rush to release something RIGHT NOW as it was the case when she was the it-girl (or hit-girl).

I study French and I was doing my homework. I had to write the woman has 14 children and she comes from a large family.. Really , a Celine Dion fan not know this , too easy! I am still laughing at the coincidence. after all I only heard her say this like a million times in her inerviews in French.
