Source? The "Taking Chances" album booklet.

 

I wasn't expecting Celine to fly to Portland or Nashville to perform the song. However, her damn team could have created a cool graphic with the line to celebrate the eclipse. Hell, Bonnie Tyler performed her hit, "Total Eclipse Of The Heart," during the event. Her song soared to #1 on iTunes on Monday, knocking out Bieber, Imagine Dragons and so many others.

 

Total eclipse of the heart is a way more popular and well-known song than “shadow of love” though. It is a song that people would think of automatically relating to the event. I doubt how many Celine fans even would think of “shadow of love” relating to the solar eclipse.

I only thought of Total Eclipse of the heart. I didn't even think of shadow of love at all.

The thing is that most people don't know the song Shadow of Love. Only really die-hard Celine fans (and, honestly, I'm about as die-hard as they come, and I didn't know that line you quoted). But every time someone said "total eclipse," I was all, "Once upon a time I was falling in love. . . " The Bonnie Tyler song is very possibly the first thing many people think of when they hear the phrase, "total eclipse."

 

Oh, and also the line from the Carly Simon song -- "You flew your Lear jet up to Nova Scotia to see a total eclipse of the sun" -- they were playing that on the radio in honor of the eclipse and it was in my head All. Day. Long. In fact, it's in my head again now!

Celine should be on Games of throne and battling to be the queen. The sound of her voice could kill the white walkers and the dragons...and enchants the rest. Long live the queen.

I always thought people were making fun of her for saying "take a kayak" but I don't see the funny part in that video. She's completely right.

Maybe it's a language thing :giggle: it wouldn't be the first time I misunderstood something in english

Well, it's making the rounds again.

 

Just look at all the respect in the quotes/retweets and replies. 12 years ago people laughed; nobody's laughing at Celine now! Pretty much universal love.

After all those years I honestly still don't understand why people make fun of that take a kayak phrase. Can someone please explain it to me? Was it cause she just got emotional? Or because taking a kayak would be a ridiculous idea? I really dont get it... Edited by ryba

it was in another time, it was chic mocking Celine . And being too emotionnal was not cool, better be sarcastic and . dark and suicidal.
