Didn't we have an English album 2017 thread somewhere? Can't find it.

 

Anyway, I really, really want Celine to sing a Rufus Wainwright song. Such a brilliant English-language songwriter, yet Quebecois enough to really 'get' her. Awesome lyricist and with a sense of melody and dramatic, operatic style that would suite Celine perfectly. :wub:

Random question... does anyone have a good close-up of Céline's second engagement ring? It's the ring she wore sometimes during the beginning of the FIY tour and can also be seen in the JSP and NPO music videos. It looks like a three stone ring with a pear cut center stone, but I'm curious what shape the side stones are. Thanks in advance! :flowers: Edited by I Drove All Night!

She actually has at least three if I remember correctly...

 

The first one can be seen in this performance of Misled at Jay Leno in 1994... I believe it's a thicker gold band that wraps around one brilliant cut diamond (though I've never seen a HQ photo of it). This was the ring Rene used to propose to her. I've never seen her wear it after they were married:

The second one is the one I'm looking for an HQ photo of, it can be seen in the JSP video. It's a three stone pear cut:

 

The third one is a cushion cut three stone stunner with a thin micropave band (I adore this one too!):

And then of course we're all familiar with her wedding band, a brilliant-cut eternity band, she wears this one in Live in Memphis:

So I guess, instead of replacing the ring, and being completely insensitive to René, seeing as he took the time to pick the original ring, she got a second one. I've always wondered what that first one looked like... 😊

Yes, from what I've seen of it it's definitely not her style lol.

 

 

There's an interview she did with Jay Leno in 1994 where she had just recently gotten engaged and she actually tells the story of the engagement. When she shows the ring you can tell she's a little "shy" about it... doesn't want to show it off. I can't for the life of me find that stupid interview now!

No, it looks bulky. She has slender fingers, the first one looked out of place. I have similar fingers, and I can't wear thick bands, they look ridiculous. There were a few rings I liked, but in the end, i picked a thin white gold band with a pear shaped emerald, obviously not half as big as Celine's haha.

 

It's just perked my interest, so I went looking. If you go to page 278 of the rare pics topic, there are a fair few with what looks like that ring... ;)

In the Rosie Odonnell interview, I want to say '96 when she had the short, kind of caramel coloured bob, they do give you a close up of her ring, where she shows the camera. If you can get that video in hd, you might be able to get a clear screen shot...

yes you're right! I just looked and it's still hard to see what the side stones are... but I have a feeling there are other photos from that photoshoot in Monaco that would have a clearer picture. Thank you!!!! :flowers:
