I'm beginning to despise these private functions. LOL I get their purpose but still..... Hopefully someone will upload something to YouTube. What on earth did we ever do before this miraculous invention existed? :giggle:

I just read that. Why in the world don't they just keep stars like him in jail and make them serve the time they earn? He could have killed someone. The freakin county police is posting tweets about him and his mugshot. Then you have the replies of " I love it, he doesn't give to f**ks"

It frustrates me.

 

AND they just had a press conference about it....is that for real?

I feel compelled to say this. I am tired of the American bashing that happens on this forum. I dont really like it when it comes from the U.S. members as well. Sure, I have said when it comes to talent and music the US sucks, however, I am greatful to live in a country where I am not in slavery, or where there is no opportunity to find a job. Ok! We still have work to do but compare to other countries we are well off. I am not saying that our country is perfect, but I am glad to be an American.

Just because the US has had it's problems in the past 10 years does not mean its not still a beautiful place. There is so much wonderful history here. And so many beautiful places to see and experience. We have tons of passionate people fighting for what's right and for what should be right for people everywhere. We may not have many traditional to home customs, but that's because most people that settled here in the early years were immigrants and they brought their own traditional customs with them. Wonderful customs and traditions that have been passed down to the American generations of families for years and years. The US is a melting pot of people with ancestry from all over the world. I think for the most part, we welcome these things with open arms and to me that's what being an American is all about.

I have to say, I agree with both of you to some extent. The problem, really, has become everyone else wants to force their own beliefs, religious views, political ideas, etc. onto everyone else. I love living here but I can't stand the closed-mindedness of some, and growing up in the south I found myself biting my tongue quite a bit lol. (Don't get me wrong, I love being southern but there's some things about this part of the country I'd rather didn't exist but it's still part of our rich history/heritage) This country is made up of immigrants, each with their own values. And I love that! I love the melting pot idea and that we can each live our lives how we choose to live them. At least that's the idea this country was founded on. The original immigrants were fleeing religious persecution but it seems we're getting awfully close to repeating history. Some things have definitely been lost in translation as time has gone on. I realize this is only a small part of the US's problem, we have a lot of work to do. And I don't mean to bash the US, each country has it's own issues. These are just ours. But we, as Americans, have to address these issues head on if we're going to make any progress. Everyone is very passionate about their own beliefs and the only thing that seems to happen is heated arguments about why point of view a is better than b or option d is just plain stupid.....and so on. I think that's where a lot of the "bashing" comes from.

 

That aside: this country has a lot of beautiful places to see, gorgeous natural beauty, and historical landmarks. I can't speak directly about Canada as I've never lived there (although, I've considered it at times lol) but I know it's some place I'd love to visit (as I would so many other countries as well). Despite each country's problems, they each have their own merits. So before moving, I'd do pretty thorough research. Make sure you can live with the bad that country has to offer along with its' good. I'm partial to the US, though but only because I'm from here.

But here's a random thought, I had. We all know Celine is an open book and we all pretty much know her, for the most part. But I wonder if there's sides to her we don't see, that she doesn't show publicly (only to Renee, her children, family, or inner circle for example)? Before anyone goes there, get your minds out of the gutter: I don't mean that side of her that she only shows Renee. :giggle: I guess a good example would be: the flowers she sent Britney on her opening night. Of course she wanted to wish her well, etc. but I wonder if, secretly, she said to Renee (or someone) "I doubt she'll be there long".....more in a funny, secretly catty way, not in a mean way. :hmm: Anyways.....just a random thought I had.

I think everybode has a nasty side, i do too. But i can't imagine how she could keep a secret, she looks like always surrounded by people.

We always have people in and out of our house but my husband & I always find time to steal away somewhere and have small talk lol. And even if she did say it in front of someone, it would be the people in her inner circle that have been around for years.....that she trusts not to go running to the National Enquirer and put something out there that's out of context. If walls could talk.....

Of course she does and I think we would be shocked by it. It's only natural. It has got to be hard to be so "good" all the time so she probably just let's it fly at home!??? There is a saying, 'it's always the quiet ones' not saying she is quiet but her image is of a "goody two shoes" so yep, she's probably wicked at home, not mean but could be catty and such. Hell she probably drinks and smokes 8 packs a day! Lol! who really knows the truth... :giggle: (sorry just rambling on..............)

I went there a long time ago. Actually I just got back. I dont feel tardy... She brings out the grrrrranimal in me. What can I say. I should say thanks to the administrators for not banning me... :innocent: THANKS

Americans are not the only people to force their beliefs on people, religious or otherwise. In fact there are some forum members that try and force their beliefs of Celine on others lmao.

I just want to know why they wanna talk that big talk, but refuse to release numbers lol? Are they waiting on them to grow before releasing them? Is that a strategy or something?

 

 

I thnk it's just buzz. It gets Britney Spears in the news.

 

The numbers that Billboard has (thanks for posting,You_Su_Phu) which to me is a much more accurate reflection of the market, show that Dion and Elton John have outsold Britney Spears (at least in terms of money brought in)--and it also rightly notes they have been there for years. So, it is even more impressive (to me anyway)--the newness of their shows have worn off, but they have settled into high ticket sales and continue to do well. (Also, $717,267!? that's amazing).

 

If Britney Spears is resorting to this kind of marketing, this early on, it can't be good (this is not be bashing her. I grew up with her music, and I do plan to see her show in Vegas). I am surprised they would inflate the numbers so quickly, because with so much hype without the numbers to support it, I would think it would hurt the show in the end. Or it could lead to just more press (as in, she was really outsold, and this leads to her doing interviews to support the show). It's all just marketing gimmick. Kind of awesome that neither Elton John nor Celine Dion had to resort to that, still out sold her, and have been doing this for years.

 

Sadly, it seems like the entire Britney Spears in Vegas adventure has had problems from the beginning (in terms of press coverage). Like I said though, I will still see her show--but I just wouldn't travel to Vegas to do so. I have gone to Vegas to see Celine Dion, and because of that discovered Vegas has amazing shopping and has so much more to do than I had imagined (as a non-drinker, non-party type). So, not only do I get to see Celine Dion in concert when I go, I discovered how much there is in Vegas--thanks to Celine Dion's ability to draw a group of people to the city. So, I guess success is just how you play with the numbers and how you define it.

 

Math can be funny that way, especially once marketing gets involved :)

We'll see if Britney even finishes her 2 year contract! I'll be surprised if she does. She's only done a few shows - there's still a buzz about her being there. Doubt she could be there for as long as Celine and still sell out the venue. Time will tell.
