chocolatechip15 Posted January 23, 2014 at 01:50 AM Posted January 23, 2014 at 01:50 AM (edited) I've recently become a bit obsessed with 1F,4T -- really sitting down with the songs and trying to understand them for the first time. . . what a beautiful album! Quite underrated, really . . and just further proof that JJG is a musical genius. Lyrical poetry, beautiful melodies . .. I ADORE Je Lui Dirai. What a joyful, beautiful song to a child -- and fits Celine so perfectly. The lyrics and the upbeat melody and Celine's sweet sincerity convey so perfectly that joyous optimism and hope about a child's future; all the things the parent will tell him and wants him to know . . I especially love "Que la terre est si belle et le ciel est si grand" . . .It's such beautiful poetry, and something about the flow of the words (the "si" and "ciel" maybe") is just amazing. And the love expressed in this song: "Qu'il est beau, que je l'aime, qu'il est ma vie, ma joie" . .. RC's probably embarassed by it now, but one day, I think he will love it.And I also LOVE Mon Homme. Incredibly beautiful song, and presumably an ode to Rene. Something about the melody and Celine's singing in the chorus is incredibly moving -- it's like it comes it from deep within her, and is so deeply felt. ..And again, such beautiful, poetic lyrics. The most amazing parts, I think are: "C'est mon homme, mon ami, qui pardonne, celui qu'on choisi" -- and "c'est mon homme, je l'admire/mon ozone, l'air que je respire" -- the emotion, the color, the incredible sound of her voice . .it's unbelievable. These songs never really get attention, but I think they're some of her best. Honestly, if I listen to too much Celine singing JJG, I actually find it hard to start listening to some of Celine's English music -- especially the older stuff. Much as I love it, some of the English songs do start to seem like bubblegum pop compared to the JJG songs, and a lot of the English music just doesn't have the same level of deep, personal emotion. Prima_Donna1 Posted January 23, 2014 at 06:42 AM Posted January 23, 2014 at 06:42 AM I feel compelled to say this. I am tired of the American bashing that happens on this forum. I dont really like it when it comes from the U.S. members as well. Sure, I have said when it comes to talent and music the US sucks, however, I am greatful to live in a country where I am not in slavery, or where there is no opportunity to find a job. Ok! We still have work to do but compare to other countries we are well off. I am not saying that our country is perfect, but I am glad to be an American. 3 Apprends-Moi tes Secrets...http://i789.photobucket.com/albums/yy180/miss_daly2881/post-1110-0-56076900-1358706235_thumb.jpg

Hey, first of all american music and talent don´t suck. I thought Elvis, Mariah and Guns were americans.... CelinesDIVO5 Posted January 23, 2014 at 11:42 AM Posted January 23, 2014 at 11:42 AM (edited) Just because the US has had it's problems in the past 10 years does not mean its not still a beautiful place. There is so much wonderful history here. And so many beautiful places to see and experience. We have tons of passionate people fighting for what's right and for what should be right for people everywhere. We may not have many traditional to home customs, but that's because most people that settled here in the early years were immigrants and they brought their own traditional customs with them. Wonderful customs and traditions that have been passed down to the American generations of families for years and years. The US is a melting pot of people with ancestry from all over the world. I think for the most part, we welcome these things with open arms and to me that's what being an American is all about. There are certainly places that I don't care to visit, but it doesn't mean I have anything against or think badly about that place. You're still welcome to come tho'!!! "Dionfanalways" explained what "neck of the woods" meant before I got a chance to. She gave you the correct explanation! I sometimes forget to not use local slang. Sorry about that, but I guess you learned something new that might be useful one day! I love learning new expressions, and that's probably why I'm a language teacher! 1
dmeredith Posted January 23, 2014 at 01:18 PM Posted January 23, 2014 at 01:18 PM Well "dmeredith", there are the people who do and the people who don't lol. I just meant that people speak down about the US these days lol. That's all! I knew what you really meant "littleames". As a teacher, I hear people say negative things about a particular school and then another person will say a lot of wonderful things about the same place. I even hear that from people that live in the area that I live in sometimes. Of course, I live in a huge area. So, it depends on which area of town they're talking about. I guess it's whatever experiences one has that makes them judge. I also think that you can make a place what you want it to sometimes be. The key words there are "can" & "sometimes"!!! Home is where the heart is, right? By the way, I might make grammatical mistakes in Engish (although it's my native language). So, forgive me if I do, 'cause I'm not an English teacher!!! One thing I like about the forum tho' is that we're able to get to know so many wonderful people (who love Celine) from all around the world! It's fun!!!! 1
