RosieBarron Posted August 6, 2012 at 05:02 PM Posted August 6, 2012 at 05:02 PM Hi Celinefans have a question is there anyone who can give me the places i can see in Canada who are Celine related i'm going there in september thanks verry much I went to see Celine in Las Vegas in June last year and in June this year. Last year I went to Montreal and Quebec City on the way home and this year I went to Montreal and Toronto. Last year we hired a boat and went on the Riviere des Milles Iles and around Ile Gagnon. We also went to the Plains of Abraham, Notre Dame Basilica and Charlemagne. This year we went to Schwartz's, Charlemagne, Nickels and went to see her star on the Canadian Walk of Fame in Toronto. I had lunch in a small cafe a couple of doors down from the house where Celine grew up in Charlemagne. The locals seemed very amused at the fact that two Brits had turned up. The bus driver who dropped us in Charlemagne also asked me why I was going there as to quote her 'there's nothing there!' Nickels was quite good fun too. There was some very entertaining graffiti about Celine in the toilets. I was unaware that 'Celine Dion supports military rule in the Middle East'! Most of the graffiti was very nice about her though.
couldawouldashoulda Posted August 6, 2012 at 07:45 PM Posted August 6, 2012 at 07:45 PM Does anyone know why Have you ever been in love is on both A new day has come and One Heart? Ah, you young ones. I remember it from the time. It is on both CD's because they had to fast track the OH album due to Chrysler sponsoring her Vegas show. They felt they needed a new album for the single IDAN. However, they still wanted to release HYEBIL as a single, so they had to put it on the new CD. They couldn't go back and release a single from a previous CD. That's just not done.
Davey84 Posted August 6, 2012 at 07:55 PM Posted August 6, 2012 at 07:55 PM Also, HYEBIL was also used in the Chrysler commercials... I think HYEBIL had everything to become a real Céline classic! It's soft, has a nice message, and some good notes. Unfortunatly a very bad video clip, zero promotion and a limited physical single release placed this song in the FLOP section http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th

Well first and most importantly.....what do you consider young? LOL! I'm old enough to remember that era, and I still like to think of myself as young, lmao! Anyway....This always perplexed me. I never cared much for the song in the first place. I mean, it's not bad, but it's not amazing. If anything, they should have put something like "The Greatest Reward" or "I Surrender" or "Prayer" or "Right In Front Of You". IDK why they chose HYEBIL.

Still young enough to be hip, cool and nowhere near 30!!! Notice I am also from 84 All this talk of being "old" brought back some fabulous memories of the days before iTunes and "leaks". There was something so exciting about getting to the record store first thing when it opened to buy her new CDs (or, in my case, cassette tapes). It would be an all day event. My parents would let me stay home "sick" from school because, clearly, I had to spend the whole day listening to the album repeatedly. I can also remember when radio stations (in NYC) would announce the time they'd premiere a new song. For example, I remember being in the car on the way home from the mall when "Tell Him" debuted. After that, I'd spend countless hours near my "boom box" with my finger ready to go on "Record" for the next time it came on. As frustrating as those times could sometimes be, I miss them!
Davey84 Posted August 6, 2012 at 08:52 PM Posted August 6, 2012 at 08:52 PM Haha yeah I know what you mean!! It had something special... Taping the top 40 on cassette and listening favourite songs! They can't imagine not being able to get a song instantly.. lol And watching the Top 20 Countdown on VH-1 on Saturday mornings - I was glued to the TV. It's so funny to think about watching those stations religiously, *hoping* she'd be on. We didn't have the forum to let us know about upcoming tv appearances!

JasonFromTheMoon Posted August 6, 2012 at 09:50 PM Posted August 6, 2012 at 09:50 PM I've been through this too and I'm seriously missing it! While I was listening to the cassette tapes I was always watching the inside parts of the covers - the photos, the lyrics and I was reading the publishing deets over and over and over again and it was just wonderful, like you're in some sort of a fairy tale and those records were the most precious things in the world, sometimes I even slept with them. It was really, really nice and far more exciting than now! Welcome to the "Loved Me Back To Life" era!http://s10.postimg.org/j8wfwy3ah/Fotor0101825542.jpg

It was really, really nice and far more exciting than now! Haha! I know! I slept with my Walkman when I was a kid all the time. I remember coming home from the record store when I was nine. I had just bought the cassette for "Celine Dion". I had a red Sony Walkman and it was one of those with only a fast-forward, no rewind button. Someone help me out here - anyone else have one like that?! Anyway, I remember sitting on my front steps, listening to it and reading the liner notes cover to cover. I can also remember being in 3rd grade and telling everyone how big she was going to be and getting laughed at! It's just such a different time now and even though I still love Celine as much (if not more) than I did 21 years ago, I feel like I had a deeper appreciation for the albums because I had to wait so long for them. Or, better yet, when I'd go to a store and see an album I didn't know existed - like, the once-in-a-blue-moon imports Barnes & Noble would carry. What better surprise than that?! Does anyone remember the Columbia House inserts we used to get in TV Guide? I used to search them religiously for albums!
celinedionfan1 Posted August 6, 2012 at 10:10 PM Posted August 6, 2012 at 10:10 PM (edited) I have to admit that I'm very old fashioned. I promise you, I'll be the first in line to buy Celine's new albums Still it's very sad that I didn't get to experience what you older fans did. Kind of feel like I was born in the wrong era, musically thinking. I hate all the crap that's produced nowadays, Celine is one of the few who still manages to make great music. JasonFromTheMoon Posted August 6, 2012 at 11:11 PM Posted August 6, 2012 at 11:11 PM (edited) I do buy the CDs still too, it's an expression of admiration and collectors passion more than old fashion, in my opinion. I've been asked why am I giving additional money for CDs that I'll never put in a player and that is what I've answered But I only do that for Celine and 3 others now in difference from the past when I used to buy everyone I liked's physical records. Anyone who knows me, even vaguely, knows about her. I make no apologies for it. Granted, I get the "crazy" comments and whatnot, but I'm used to it. I don't expect other people to understand. I gave up on that a lonnnnnng time ago!

mkh3482 Posted August 7, 2012 at 12:04 AM Posted August 7, 2012 at 12:04 AM I agree with both of you ! I am loving the fact that I'm "converting" my students. I teach students with special needs and one of my girls loves music - she's really into Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, etc. She's absolutely fascinated by my Celine wall in my classroom (well, it's a small bulletin board) and loves when I tell my ridiculous stories. Warms my heart to know I'm creating little Celine minions haha

I have all these old cassette tapes with fragments of songs, or songs from stations that didn't come in too well that sound kind of crackly. Also, some of the cassette tapes (Falling Into You, at least) didn't have the lyrics in the cassette insert . . . and it's not like you could google them! I remember being in stores where they sold sheet music and looking up Celine lyrics there. For the longest time, in IACBTMN, where Celine says "It was more than all your laws allow," I totally thought she was saying "It was more than all your lousy love." Another thing that's different is that when you went to a concert, you had no idea what songs she was going to sing or what it was going to be like. I think that's part of why people screamed so much when they heard songs they loved . . . you didn't know that was going to be the next song. And while I would so love to see the Vegas show, I think it would be less exciting, because we know the whole setlist; we've even heard her introductions to the songs . . But it is wonderful to have all the scoop about her TV appearances now . . .I'm sure I missed tons in the old days. Did anyone else get calls from friends and relatives who would say things like: "Turn on the TV! Celine's on Oprah!" (that totally happened to me multiple times. love my family and friends!)

You're totally right, but that's more of a technology thing. Back in the FIY days and earlier....there was no way to find out the setlist. Magazines really didn't print that kind of information. Around 1996/1997....the internet became much more prevolent, and there was suddenly a source to go to, to find out these things. Now That it's 2012...the internet has become completely mainstream, and every artist's setlist is basically completely public. Isn't it weird how much times have changed, even from 15 years ago?
