Got an email from BST Hyde Park today announcing that the two male concerts are sold out but there are still tix available for all three of the female concerts. Something I found interesting...further down in the email it says to join Barbra with Bryan Ferry, Kris Kristofferson and more. However, with Celine it just says “with her special guests Claire Richards and Josh Groban.” There’s no mention of “and more” or “with more guests to be announced” like they used to say.

I really don't get why Céline only has 2 acts and I am still praying those won't be the only ones! Why does F&TM have 14 acts?!

Is the organisation no thinking out of the box?! Do they think Céline fans only want to hear ballads? It's a real mess IMO.

 

I would have loved to have Texas as a support act for Céline!

I was checking out the previous years of BST on Wikipedia. Many of the opening night artists only have 2 supporting acts. So it may just be something about it being the first night of the festival. Maybe they start things out slowly?

I’m also remembering reading that Celine specifically asked Claire to be one of her support acts after hearing tracks from her solo album, My Wildest Dreams. And Josh Groban tweeted “Anything for Celine” which implies that he was asked by her to perform. Perhaps it’s not the organization, BST, that gets the support acts but the artists themselves?

So, we know that doors don’t even open until 2pm for general admission. So probably no music until at least 2:30-3:00 and that would be on the smaller stages. Claire Richards has her start time listed as 5pm on her website. Whether that’s true or not, who knows? Let’s say she does a full hour on her own - she’s certainly got plenty of songs to sing between her album and her years with Steps. So she performs 5-6pm. 45 minutes for a change in musicians/set up. Josh Groban comes on at 6:45 and does 90 min on his own - he’s a big enough act to justify that. So he performs from 6:45-8:15. Another 45 min and Celine comes on at 9pm and does a 2 hr show til 11. That could very well be the day if they don’t utilize the Barclaycard Stage or the SummerStage.

I totally can see where you’re coming from. Me...if I go to a concert I want to hear vocalists - people who can SANG. Although I’m not a giant fan of Josh Groban, I happy knowing that at least he’ll be pleasing to my ear. As for Claire...there’s not a track on her album that I don’t like. I’ve been listening to it practically non-stop this spring. Celine should be so lucky as to have an album like My Wildest Dreams, imo.

 

For you though, keep in mind that many of us from the forum will be there and will be posting - I’m in Diamond Circle and will be getting there at 1pm for the early entry. I (and other, too, probably) will be posting what the situation is like. You could always hang out near by at a bar and “pre-game” and watch the message board for when more people start showing up and then rush over maybe?

To be honest, I would rather do some shopping and sightseeing and after that, enjoy my first open air Celine concert! ;-)

Although I’m a little worried as to why there are still tickets available across all price tiers for Celine, is this not selling well and that’s why they can’t seem to tempt any big names to support her? I could understand if it wasn’t attracting that many die hard Celine fans though as a lot of her fan base are older and wouldn’t like the idea of standing all day. However, apparently Barbra’s is almost sold out and I would’ve expected her fan base to be of the same frame of mind.

 

Or is it lack of support acts that’s not drawing in an interest but on the other hand if it wasn’t selling that well, you would think they would pull out all the stops to add someone popular to the mix to draw in the crowds.

 

I’m confused by it all, would’ve thought this would’ve sold out months ago tbh.

My friends have received their gold circle tickets and theirs say enter by the west entrance whereas mines says south entrance. Is this just to avoid congestion at the entrances, do we think.

Setlist will be Asian tour with Think Twice added and one or two new songs

Don't expect more or you'll be disappointed.

 

I trust all the 'fresh' ideas will be used for the tour and they're not going to give away anything 2 months in advance.

From my research into photos and vlogs, it looks as if the stage is rather high (taller than people) probably so artists can be seen from waaaaay back. It looks as if there is a giant gap between the stage and the barriers for the diamond circle - to be used for security as well, I’m sure. So I don’t know how close you can get to the stage but if you’re diamond level you have early access and can be right up at the barrier. That’s what I’m planning. I get incredibly claustrophobic (can’t really even believe I’m doing this) so I want to be right at the barrier so I can see a wide open space in front of me and ignore the 64,999 other people or so behind me. lol

 

One year, they had a catwalk that looks as if it went through the diamond circle right up to the front of the gold circle but I’ve only seen that in videos for one year (the Taylor Swift/Bieber year.) Everything else just had the stage.

 

So, if I only want to watch the performance of Celine, could I come to the park at 8?

They will release a schedule closer to the event. According to the official BST app, it will be updated with timing by June 20th.

Didn’t I read somewhere in this thread that there was another artist set to open the festival and Celine stepped in when that artist pulled out? If so, they haven’t had as long to plan as other artists and it could just be that many artists already have their tour stops booked for the year and aren’t available on the date.

Anyone know if there are any fan meet ups for this show? I have a Diamond area ticket and am going alone but would be cool to have someone or a group to tag along with. Also does anyone know what hotel she is staying at this time - will she still choose the Dorchester?

The Lanesborough ( always stayed here in the 90’s ) and right across the street from Hyde Park.
