I keep seeing people say "nothing new..." However, this is her first time being really public in Australia and New Zealand in almost 10 years. Not new to us, because we spend so much time on this forum, and watching every single thing she does. The public in these countries haven't seen her in years, so it may be new to a lot of them.

The goal of the interview was to re-engage the average Aussie fan who loved her in the 90s and who has maybe occasionally seen her pop up in magazines, not for us 50 or so die hard fans who want to know every detail of the new album. This interview was about getting sold out shows today when they go on sale.

 

Absolutely loved it. Was produced so respectfully with the background music and the reflection on all her albums.

 

The tour was talked about by the presenters after the interview in about 2 more minutes of banter between the 4 presenters of the show. I will try and upload that bit.

Exactly, this interview was for the general Australian public who thought Céline had disappeared from the face of the earth after Titanic...

Pretty good job of covering her life and career in just over 10 minutes. I love the interviewer too.

I would wish for not only filming but also releasing the tour as we all know what happened this past Summer with filming. We all had high hopes from seeing the extra cameras and then nothing.

Outrage as Celine Dion tickets 'sell out instantly'

 

Kiwi Celine Dion fans are shocked and upset after tickets to her Auckland shows seemed to sell out straight away, with scalpers quickly advertising tickets on resale websites for hundreds and even thousands of dollars extra.

 

The 'My Heart Will Go On' singer is coming to Auckland for two shows in August this year. Pre-sale tickets sold out earlier this month, so many Dion fans were eagerly awaiting general ticket sales, which launched at midday today.

 

However, many were deeply disappointed when they went to purchase and were notified that tickets were immediately unavailable.

 

One Motueka woman was left particularly heartbroken after trying to buy tickets to surprise her mother.

 

Kat Bradley told Newshub she and her sister had already booked flights and a hotel to for the surprise trip, and were waiting on the site from before midday, ready to purchase concert tickets.

 

"I got my husband home from work so he could help," Ms Bradley says.

 

"We searched and refreshed and refreshed and it just kept coming up none available.

 

"We saved up to buy certain tickets because it was Celine. I've been dreaming about this day for so long. "

 

Ms Bradley went to see if she could purchase any from re-sale websites, and was shocked at hike in cost.

 

"Tickets that were $119 went up to $400. I can't afford $400 a ticket. I don't think the flights and hotel are refundable either, so I'm gutted. But I guess it's a tip to Auckland for the night."

 

Many commenters on the event's Facebook page have expressed similar disappointment.

 

"To those who bought tickets and are now selling them for insane prices on Resales: you are just being inconsiderate and selfish. It's so upsetting that so many genuine fans may miss out now," one fan wrote.

 

"WTF!!!!! I have sat here for an hour since 12 on the dot even put time aside for this out of my day. Its sold out before they even went on sale???," another said.

 

Anne Changaiya posted on Twitter asking Celine Dion herself for prices to be dropped.

 

"It's looking like [only] the rich can go to your concert here in Auckland," she wrote, posting a screenshot of four tickets being sold by a scalper for over $25,000.

 

Frontier Touring spokesman Brent Eccles told Newshub the speed of sell-out was simply due to crazy demand, the likes of which he's never seen before. He says there were tickets for all seating sections for the show available at midday when they went on sale.

He agreed re-sale sites are a "real problem" in the industry, and says they've been "lobbying the government for a while".

 

"It's becoming a problem where we can't control the sale of our own tickets," Mr Eccles says.

 

"We put measures in place for that not to happen, but there are lots of unscrupulous people out there with sophisticated technology who take advantage of it."

 

He says he would love to think action might be put in place after today's social media uproar.

 

"It's been going on for a number of years now and nobody is taking it seriously."

 

Dion performs at Auckland's Spark Arena on August 11 and 12.

Those resellers should be punished.

That’s horrible, fans have to pay way more than the initial price on the original selling site? Crazy.

I really hope there will be done something about that. The government is mentioned... hopefully they will come up with something protective in the near future for upcoming shows of different artists.

Overall, I liked the interview, Celine looked absolutely beautiful. Would love to hear something new but it served its main purpose (to make people buy tickets) quite well.

I guess she didn't have to be "re-introduced" to the Thai public with this interview? Just saying. Yes this was a wonderful interview. No cut away to back footage and just them talking. Actually, reselling at a higher price than face value is outlawed in some countries. Belgium being one of them. So it's possible.

I don't think we can compare. I mean 10 years ago, the whole aussie leg was postponed @ last minute due to Céline 's sickness. Who knows how many asked for refund?

Yes you’re absolutely right! But still...the shows were just postponed for a few days and the tickets were 60-65% sold! I find it really low...I’d have understood something like 85-90%

 

Plus, then Céline had a brand new album back then! Now she’ll sell around 100k tickets without nothing new! QUEEN has been missed

I think you misunderstood me.

 

It was indeed low but we don't know the % initially sold. Maybe it was that low from the start. I don't know.

 

A few days or not, not everybody can make it. And it's precisely because it was a few days that maybe people had already other things planned. And on top of it, some shows were on the week end and rescheduled during the week...
