TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – While Canadian pop superstar Celine Dion attracts full public attention with her first-ever performances in Taiwan this week, Taiwanese-American cellist Judy Kang (康瑋倫) has been sharing the spotlight.

Kang was born in Taiwan, started studying music at an early age, and emigrated with her family to the United States when she was 16. She was the first to graduate from the University of Southern California with both piano and cello as chief subjects, the Central News Agency reported.

On her 27th birthday, she was invited to audition for Celine Dion’s orchestra, which involved a drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, and she was chosen out of a hundred candidates, she told a news conference in Taipei Friday. Since then, she has been playing the cello with the pop diva for four years.

During Wednesday’s concert at the Taipei Arena, Dion introduced Kang to her Taiwanese audience.

According to Kang, the star once met her parents after a concert in Las Vegas and thanked them for allowing their daughter to join her band. Dion was a true professional and a friendly person, CNA quoted Kang as saying.

Dion – and Kang – have scheduled concerts in Taipei on July 11, 13 and 14.

Not right after the show. She'll probably fly out early Sunday morning (before dawn)... just like she did in Macau, Singapore and Taiwan....

No she has always flown to the next location straight after the show except for Jakarta. I know for sure

I was at tonight's show in Taipei and she is in top vocal condition! Top shape. She really felt the energy from the audience towards the end and her speech was completely from the heart. It was flowing beautifully, her accent was normal and none of the silly face gestures and accents she puts on the scripted interjections. This was truly a special memento between her and her fans. One I will cherish forever. And OFRI was insane. She has still got it. Made me so so proud!

LOL that;s not headvoice guys that is natural full voice that's why she is alittle bit struggling,. But nevertheless the high part!! WOW almost like years did not pass for celine.

 

Are you a professional singer? Or why do you know that?

I’m delighted the Asian fans are finally getting the chance to experience the pure excellence of Celine live in person! Although, part of me wishes she was doing live TV promo right now to promote her upcoming release, with her voice this strong (and only getting stronger). I hope her voice is in good shape when it’s time to tour the publicity circus.

 

P.s CHFILWY sounded immense! Her rich full tone throughout the versus was stunning in that arena, and her climb up to the top register was very impressive. That famous melisma she’s known for doing on that song is among one of the greatest vocal moments in my opinion (1993). The fact she can still do it over two decades later is a true testimony to her talent, and her long lasting vocal preservation which the other two great Divas (WH+MC) never did.

To know that doesnt necessary to be a professional singer... it is knowledge and yours is wrong.

Can't get over how incredible she looks. Whatever she's doing she needs to keep doing it.

And just love how she never ignores her fans, she always makes time to at least great them, even if quickly.

 

Pepe was riding with her again. Is he her assistant or just her bff? It seems he is with her everywhere. We don't see her hanging out with Barnev, Elis, or Kevin off stage.

Okay maybe not *embarrassing* but from watching the FIY performance to the I Can't Help Falling In Love, the difference in her voice it's a bit awkward to say the least. Makes you wonder what's going on on with her voice in a matter of minutes.

Well, she doesn't go from weak vocals to great ones in a night.

Fiy is playback recorded weeks ago... so...

What I just realized is that I like how Celine improvises in the last part of IACBTMN... but right at the very end she should switch back to the original "And if we"... followed by the six piano notes then the backing vocals' "ooooohh"... that's like one of the most iconic parts of the song. Celine going back to the hotel. This time she made it a point to come much closer to the fans. I like how instead of signing autographs or taking selfies... she shook hands with the fans. That's more touching, sincere, and personal, I think.

Maybe its for a Netflix documentary like Lady Gaga did.. We also know Madonna talked with Netflix for the same thing.. Maybe they asked Celine too!

 

Following earlier’s Red Heads’ post regarding the possible realization of a tour documentary that would be broadcast on Netflix, the official Céline Twitter account has followed NETFLIX and NETFLIX CANADA.

Coincidence?! A wink to the Red Heads?!

 

 

Out of subject but i really like how the Red Heads are posting like this is their news when they posted it on july 11 but in fact i was the first to talk about that on july 9 lol

That performance of Can't Help Falling In Love...it has completely blown me away. Such power and control and so beautiful completely acapella. I want this to be plastered over Youtube and reaction videos. It's incredible that she can sing like this, better than ever.

 

Well I think we can conclude that she's definitely capable of singing way better than she does most of the times, and I'm not sure if that's something I should be happy about or just angry/mad at her -_-

 

Okay, she's saving her voice and taking care of it, but to what extent, and for what purposes? She rather give us a flawless album with out of the world vocals, otherwise, I don't understand this different "voices" she uses (or the polemical abuse of playback) :whee:
