RosieBarron Posted June 30, 2018 at 06:49 AM Posted June 30, 2018 at 06:49 AM I was there for the second show in Montreal as well - August 1st! I was also on the floor, I think about the twentieth row. It was one of those stupid things. I bought my tickets to the 1 August show straight away on the presale and didn't manage to get on the floor. I planned a road trip round Quebec to coincide with going to the show flying to and from Montreal. The week before I went team Celine sent out an email saying that tickets for the later Montreal shows were still available, so I booked to go to another show a bit last minute and got tenth row for the same price I'd paid for the presale tickets. 1 Quote
Javito Posted June 30, 2018 at 07:39 AM Posted June 30, 2018 at 07:39 AM Maybe that's a sign that the audience is bored as hell like us of the sequence LCMM/RDMH I actually quite like this concert! But the audience of the front section just.... Meh....According to a friend of mine who went last nite, most front row people r like middle age towards old .... Probably they r VVIPs...... And higher rollers.... Also during river deep some middle age/ old people starts to leave......(wtf)I believe theres only 1standing ovation at the end of MHWGO and thats it....My friend wanna stand up but no one around him wants to........ 我從使用 Tapatalk 的 F8332 發送 I really think people expect it to be big. Not only because the tickets were expensive. Because they know when céline do a concert it will be a big production like A new day/tcwt. Once you start with a big production people expect it to be consistent. Let's talk about love tour, A New Day, TCWT, Céline (2011-2014)- with holograms or special effects. Now that we are in the era of big prods. Even a local artists are trying to imitate international artist to have a big prod to give a full package not just with their voice but giving them a great full package show. It just that i really feel sad for her on keeps on saying "Are we good?".. "Are we still good?"... and you'll see some audience keeps on standing up, going down the stairs.. leaving like they didn't enjoy the show. Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
Critiaslux Posted June 30, 2018 at 07:42 AM Posted June 30, 2018 at 07:42 AM Another Chinese article about the first Macau show last night. They describe the show as both visually and audibly rich. 【澳門騷爆滿】Celine Dion壓軸唱代表作 Celine妹妹唔聽自己參賽歌 http://s.nextmedia.com/realtime/a.php?i=20180630&s=7018882&a=58382726 And that's what matters in terms of image: what the general public think and media writes. As unfortunate it is for hardcore fans it almost means that there is not so much incentive for Céline's team for a change. But at least her image is still stellar. 1 Quote
Javito Posted June 30, 2018 at 07:44 AM Posted June 30, 2018 at 07:44 AM Have they done a concert like Rebel heart tour/TCWT or U2 kind of like concert or just simple setup? It also depends on the music that they were singing (setlist) Sorry i don't know them but i know the girl stevie nicks? Because of American Horror Story: Coven I saw that season! ivo Posted June 30, 2018 at 07:49 AM Posted June 30, 2018 at 07:49 AM This simpel setup is just what Céline needs. I did not like the TCWT setup with dancers at all. She just does not need it and it is Vegas overkill. I like these last tours since 2013 Very much! No dancers please. 2 Quote Amsterdam 18-06-1997 - Amsterdam 14-06-1999 - London 10-07-1999 - Antwerpen 14-05-2008 - Antwerpen 21-11-2013 - Las Vegas 10-10-2015 - Paris 09-07-2016 - Arnhem 23-06-2017

If you criticize the set list, you can no longer be a fan and watch a bootleg, lol... someone told me that Don’t be silly, I never said he couldn’t watch a bootleg or be a fan! Of course he can, same as everyone else! It’s just after reading his comments about not being interested in watching “Vegas on wheels” I was surprised to read he had one show later, especially as there weren’t any changes 😁that’s all Edited June 30, 2018 at 07:53 AM by celine4evauk 1 Quote

CSCfan Posted June 30, 2018 at 08:40 AM Author Posted June 30, 2018 at 08:40 AM (edited) A problem I have with her tour setup is that they try to have it both ways; doing both arena’s and stadiums. A lot of artists do either a stadium or an arena tour and design their stage etc accordingly. So for a stadium havin a large stage and set-up and when doing an arena, a smaller intimate set-up. But with Céline, it’s the same set-up and it just doesn’t work. Take last year’s tour...that stage was perfect for venues like the O2, but it was terrible for stadiums (like the Gelredome). The stage’s width was small and there were big spaces between the stage and the side tiers. Next time they should either do an arena or a stadium tour OR have 2 different set-ups with them. For the LTAL tour I think there were 2 heart-shapes stages, one smaller and one bigger. Well I guess I just felt curious about the comments with her voice getting better and she being more interactive with the audience and it's true, her voice in Macao is way better than before How she changes from a tired, extremely nasal and twangy voice that goes almost slurring the words, to a clear, powerful voice within a couple of days or the next day, that's a mystery to me still Must depend on her mood on each day? Unfortunately I don’t think these days we can expect a “standard improvement” or “it will only get better which each show”. I still think she has trouble with her ears and I think it (her hearing/voice) can be a different each day. So it may have been very good yesterday, but she could have trouble today. It would explain her erratic singing quality. But we’ll see how it goes the next few shows... Anyone else, believe that she keeps going back from wireless mic to wired mic alot, not only cause she likes the cord? In her most recent interview with Larry King after she had the twins he asked her about if the Vegas environment is still difficult for her to sing in, and she said, "no". And went on to say because of the custom humidity bubble on her stage directing on her. She then said, " you have to be careful tho, microphones don't like humidity that much, but it's okay if we have to change a mic every night we will". I wonder If there's a reason to go back and fourth between the wireless and wired microphone, she says she likes the cord but if that was the only case you would think she would have stayed with the corded mic all time, but she seems to try to go back to wireless alot and AGAIN back to the corded one randomly after using the other one for a bit of time. I’ve explained a while ago the main reason why she’s using a corded mic and in particular this Shure microphone: it sounds better and softer in her (in-)ears. Her previous Sennheiser/Neumann microphone made her sound better, but she didn’t like the way it sounded in her (in-)ears. And this Shure one (which is the most used mic in the industry) has always been her favourite. Also because it’s corded, there’s less chance for malfunctions and technical errors, coz it’s directly plugged into the system and is not dependable on wireless tranceivers or other stuff that can interfere with the feed. She uses a wireless version of that Shure mic for songs which she’s unable to perform with a corded mic (like MHWGO, in Vegas). Sometimes she’s also using a wireless Sennheiser microphone (without the Neumann head). Don’t know why.... maybe she’s required to because of a certain deal, or that she feels better/comfortable enough using it. Did the seater left???? What a shame. It is the front row. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Those seats were left empty 10 min after she started, but 50 min later 2 hardcore fans asked security to let them occupy them and it worked; they stood up and cheered and live streamed the last part. Also, people left early simply to avoid the que and catch the ferry back to Hong Kong. Quote
Javito Posted June 30, 2018 at 09:21 AM Posted June 30, 2018 at 09:21 AM (edited) I agree with adapting the stage set up to the type of arena/stadium, but same goes with the songs setlist. She insists on bringing the Vegas concept on tour for the third consecutive year with a simple production and that's not going to work much more, especially if she keeps rising the tickets prices. And same applies to the songs, she insists on singing most of the hits and what they think the audience wants to hear, but she constantly ignores a portion of the audience -like us- and the young fans who have become fans with ANDHC albums or One Heart and they want to hear more of those songs. What about this section of the public? Céline's audience consist not only of middle-aged or elderly people who don't move a finger during the whole show, no matter how hard Céline or René believe(d) this, and someone needs to shed light on them on this particular. There's also a good fraction of that audience wanting to dance to her songs and stand up from their seats and have some fun, and I say this because I witnessed this the last tour on London in a house that was totally on fire with every uptempo song she performed there. So a combination of her classics + more of the new songs from 2002 and on would be a perfect balance for both kinds of public, but suffice to say that she only sings I'm Alive and a cut (awful imo) version of ANDHC from her albums released after 2000 (not counting the most recent song Ashes because it's not included anywhere in her discography). That's just two songs representative of what she's done since 2002. Is that fair to all kinds of public? Does it make justice to herself and her repertoire? Nope, not at all. Based on this setlist it's as if she hasn't done anything worth to sing since 15 years ago or worst, as if she was embarrassed to sing the songs she has recorded from 2003 and on, and that's not fair nor true. Watching this setlist now I'm so glad I attended last year's tour, because she risked much more and combined all what I say: the classics and her old hits but without ignoring that portion of the audience that knows her discography and included both old less-known songs (Refuse To Dance, The Colour Of My Love, Misled) and also some of the more recent songs, but known only for the fans (Love Is All We Need, Treat Her Like A Lady). So someone in her team needs to undeceive Céline on this and tell her the world is not going to end for combining more of the new songs and include more of her unknown material in her shows while she combines them with her hits. Or she needs a manager so bad to tell her this. Edited June 30, 2018 at 09:31 AM by Javito 2 Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

She didn't do it in 2013/2016/2017 why would she just for this short tour? In 2016 she didn't even changed clothes, and that was THE BEST SHOW EVAAAAH!! Of course when you start a big production of course it will stuck in our minds and expect it to be consistent. Now in this era. You need to deliver a great show. A full package with dancers , etc. in short. It should be big production. If céline wants to evolve (like she always says that when doing records) she needs to be consistent with a big productions like TCWT whether she’s vocalist or what. She or they already started it. We are not in the 50’s that when doing a tour.. the main focus is the voice. Absolutely! European people would not understand how frustrating Asian people feel! 4 Quote

They keep failing when bringing live her uptempo songs. TTWII is also far from the album version, it lacks its energy. And countless more songs followed this list: Eyes On Me, Shadow Of Love... Solution? Play the backing track of the original album versions and problem solved. The digital protools and sound effects used in these kind of songs are key to the success of a good live version brought to the stage... It was so emotional and the best moment of the past tour, having Céline at the heart of the arenas surrounded by her public from every angle. And it's not because I attended, but I think 2017 tour was one of the best crafted tours she has ever done. The opening and closing songs were perfect (those new intro vocals in TPOL ) and she captured a very good balance of hits + rare/new songs.
