Javito Posted June 8, 2018 at 11:29 AM Posted June 8, 2018 at 11:29 AM I've been a vinyl enthusiast for many years, but after carefully examining the details of the new pressings with several artists (not just Céline), and especially on the printing and photos aspect of it (no complaints about the sound), I am quite disappointed with the quality of many of these releases overall, so I'm mainly waiting for my favourite titles to be released on this format (aka ANDHC and All The Way and Taking Chances lol). I want to be excited about this, but when I see the poor quality of the photos and the front/back covers -when they're not blurred they're grainy, and/or with pale colours used- as if they had scanned and zoomed the next CD copy they had on the table, I lose all interest on them 2 Quote "Hush, now... Kev x The original 1996 edition will still be better than the one that's coming... mark my words Thing is, even though I really appreciate all this vinyl fever back today, it's hard to make the best version of an album on vinyl today when they accumulate hundreds and hundreds of titles they want to release now, when they didn't do it back on the day when each album was released, that they had the time to dedicate the attention to each detail, and most of all, when they had all the original masters and photographic work of the artwork of each album. Now they either have to look for the original photos/files containing the best quality of the photos, and if they don't keep them, they just scan the pictures of the CD version and resize them to adapt them to the 12x12 inch size of the vinyl jackets, but of course this is not the same as doing the whole process when the album was originally released... Some are nicely done still, some show some care and attention to detail and respect the original artwork and graphics used. But some others don't even respect the original fonts used and put anything they come up with. Lazy! I have to admit I'll be a bit disappointed if they do the same thing they did with the French releases, and just do 4x4 reprints from the CD booklets.
