There must be a good reason.... Why don't you buy some vinyl and a record player - you can start a collection very inexpensively - and find out for yourself! Highly recommended. Baby Boomers always think its extraordinary when they see it, too. Records are all I use now at home.

 

SSD, SA, and 1f&4T arrived a couple days ago. D'eux was shipped seperately for some reason and will arrive today. 1f&4T is my favorite so far, and side 2 of SSD. I'm sure D'eux will be my preference once I have it.

 

Can't wait for the next release!! LTAL would be highly preferred to ANDHC from my perspective. Tho I wouldn't be surprised if both were released. Probs releasing the albums that have highest revenue history,

Haha well mainly because vinyl is the ultimate collectors item...

Vinyl is a very special medium, always been and it's special it's still out there.

 

The cd is truly dying, many of us don't even own cd players anymore.

Streaming replaces the cd... but nothing can replace vinyl

It's amazing. The other day I tested out an experiment I had thought of trying but had not yet....i had a friend with me as well who felt the same way I did afterwards.

 

I have a record player that also does CD.... I played the song where does my heart beat now...i started the CD and let it play thru the chorus.....then I (somehow magically) was able to play the song on vinyl immediately before the chorus and hearing both back to back like that was pretty astounding. The CD didn't sound bad, but in comparison to the vinyl it sounded like I was listening from a different room. The vinyl, i could hear her voice resonate on the chorus belts...close my eyes and it was as if I were in the studio.

 

I had always heard there was a difference in clarity and quality, but seeing it first hand all in under a minute really made it clear.

In that case you can always get a SACD player which highlights instruments you never even knew was in the recording. But of course you need the SACD's

Well according to you it sounds like you're in the studio with Celine on vinyl. Well in that same thought I'd thought I'd tell you that SACD shows you instruments and vocals you won't even get on cd or vinyl. I fail to see what's funny. lol

The only reason why you even can hear the added instruments and vocals are because ATW and ANDHC were specifically remastered and remixed for when they were released on SACD. The added timpanis in TPOL, the alternate vocal take in BATB, etc... They weren't like that in the original versions. It says on the back of the ATW SACD "5.1 Surround Sound mixes by Humberto Gatica." Meanwhile, I have a whole bunch of SACDs that weren't remastered/remixed and don't add anything new, one being FIY. It's not the format per se, but rather the remaster/remix that gave ATW and ANDHC such a new life in the SACD release.

It's crap. I was so disappointed. I was hoping they would take the time to work on the artwork of these releases and deliver the best photo quality for the pictures, especially on the front covers, but I was proved so wrong

 

The most noticeable one is D'eux, but even for Sans attendre which dates back as recent as only 5 years ago, the cover looks as if it was just scanned and zoomed from the CD version. Even Team Celine sent pictures of the album artwork with the the best resolution back in the day to fans and they could have used them!

 

The best one to me is 1f&4t, not great but at least it doesn't look blurry and cheap as on D'eux and SSDA

Unfortunately, in recent years SACD has become much more of a gimmick than what it was intended for. I purchase SACDs that are remakes of expensive 80s Chinese pop CDs and they don't add anything to the sound quality. But since I don't have the original CDs (which cost $150+), I have no other options.

2 good sacd releases or nearly 15 plus on vinyl.....pretty obvious. I don't like the two albums you listed enough to care. I'd rather listen to en concert, incognito, or unison all on vinyl than either of those two on sacd.

I just received the vinyls today from Amazon.ca. One problem that I'm noticing across all my vinyls (Edit: except SISDA) are a white powdery line across part of one side of the disc. I'm going to be giving them a clean before playing, but I just wanted to know if anyone else has this problem too.

 

Edit: I have a feeling it's coming from the sleeves because my SISDA discs don't have this problem and are stored in the plastic lined sleeves (so much better!)

Totally agree, the covers look so blurry :-(

 

Also, they could have taken a bit more time to create something special than just take the vinyl inlet and split it into 4 so it can show 4 pages of the CD-booklet.

 

The magic of vinyl is not just the LP itself, also the larger booklet.

I'm not very knowledgeable about vinyl but from what I understand it sounds better when it contains the original recording because vinyl has better sound quality than CD's. But in this case I doubt that because they were originally released on CD and I assume they just transferred the CD's to vinyl, so it would just be the same quality but I could be wrong. Is there anyone who owns the LP's who can confirm they are actually higher quality than the CD's? If that is the case I might buy them.

Weee! I'm so anxious to know what's coming next, and when! Do you think Sony will re-release some rare vinyls, like FIY? I would think they would release the best selling albums - LTAL, FIY, TATST, ANDHC. I hope we'll find out sooner, rather than later.
