The Forbes number is just a percentage. Celine is close to 1 BILLION USD , especially when you factor in all of Renes fortune now that wasn't left to his 3 older children.

That article showing Celine's worth at $700 million also shows how shitty the GRAMMY awards have become in recent years. It says Celine and Mariah both have 5 GRAMMY awards in total and yet Beyoncé won 5 for her debut album. Ummmm OK.

My husband works in show business and he shared with me some interesting details.

 

First of all, celebrities usually bring home about 30-40% of their tour gross. A big tour is quite expensive to organise, actually, with building a stage (in case of world tours there are at least 2-3 stages), transporting it from one place to another, lighting, sound, dancers... So companies as AEG Live or Live Nation end up getting most of the profits. After all, they are the one who take all the risks, not the artist.

 

Now, Taking Chances World Tour grossed $280 million from tickets sales. What Celine must have got is about $100 million. But that's before taxes. I think (not sure) Celine pays taxes in the US since she lives there, so her tax rate must be about 40%. That means her net salary was $60 million. I know there were a lot of T-Shirts, cups with her name sold, but according to my husband artists usually don't get much from that.

Also, some percentage goes to the manager, but in case of Celine that was Rene, so we don't reckon it.

 

With A New Day it's more complicated, since they didn't have to move the stage, the theater was built and ended up being used not only by Celine. I read somewhere that the original contract for 3 years in 2002 was worth $100 million. Let's estimate she ended up getting at least $150 for the whole deal, which is around $100 million after taxes.

 

Add to this her Celine Show, mini-tours, private concerts. I think it's quite safe that she has earned $250 miilion in XXI century from touring (including merchandising). In the 90s the number must be significantly lower since the tickets prices were not as big, there were a lot of dates cancelled during LTAL Tour and so on.

Now add to this number unknown sums from her contracts with Sony on albums and singles.

 

Celine IS NOT a billionaire or even close to be one.

But she must be Top 3 richest female musicians.

I do believe Madonna is the richest one, and third place is probably taken by Beyonce.

And I cannot at some of you quoting Forbes as a reliable source of information - that article you're all referencing, it states that she's earned $260m from Vegas yet her fortune is only $380m? So she's earned $120m from everything else?

 

On the Canadian Rich List for 2014, she was cited as the 101st richest Canadian in the world with a fortune estimated to be $721,446,865.

We're talking about a woman who has worked her #ss off putting on a Las Vegas show, releasing a French album, recording songs for an English album, appearing on numerous televised events, is raising her children, and still dealing with the loss of her husband and you seriously called her "lazy"?! That's absolutely ridiculous! Maybe you should show her how it's done since you're apparently extremely knowledgeable of what it takes to be an international singing sensation. Also we need to remind ourselves that vocal cords - like every single part of the body - age. Comparing Celine 97 to Celine 2017 is really, really unfair. But it only shows how perfect she is that any imperfection seems like a big deal to us.

Someone's worth etc isn't just about how much they've earned in a year etc. It's about how much their properties/assets are worth etc too. No one knows exactly how much celine is worth - except her accountant. People can only surmise. Like others have said, Forbes is only part of her wealth.

What does net worth mean.

 

Net worth is "take home" money. Forbes' numbers are an estimated net worth based on revenue they have calculated on their own from ticket sales, album sales, etc. Therefore, their numbers are revenue based. They have no way of truly knowing how much she actually has.

 

Not to mention her own personal assets. Properties, vehicles, life insurance, her vocal cords are surely insured on their own. Her awards are worth money as well.
