Dancing_Queen Posted September 18, 2017 at 07:25 PM Posted September 18, 2017 at 07:25 PM I mean, I just paid US$275 a pop to see Paul McCartney at MSG last night (and those were the ~mind-tier ticket prices), but you know what, I don't mind.I don't mind because, well, a) it's Paul McCartney! but also b ) he really gives you your money's worth.Like, he played a 3-hour, nearly 40-song set last night. And the concert before that, and the one before that. And when I saw him several years back, he did the same. Back then he was in his late-60s, but now he's 75 and still doing it!And I mean 3 straight hours, no breaks, no 'costume changes', nothing. His band gets breaks, when he does solo piano or guitar stuff, but not Sir Paul. He's just up there like a spry Energizer bunny, running around that stage with more energy and staying power than most kids 1/3 his age. I mean, can you imagine Celine ever doing anything approaching a 40-song set?! I went to see Paul McCartney a few years ago. He was good, but the thing I remember most is that his set was way (and I really mean WAY) too long. I know many of the songs he sang, but I'm just a casual fan and by the end I was like 'really? another one?'. It sounds weird, but everyone in my group felt the same, so it wasn't just me. Now Céline could do a 5 hour set and I'd be totally here for it, but realistically, the length of the tour shows is perfect (the first show was probably too long for casuals). I do agree the Vegas show doesn't give you enough bang for your buck, though again, for many casuals it may be enough... 4 Quote

Javito Posted September 18, 2017 at 08:58 PM Posted September 18, 2017 at 08:58 PM (edited) There's absolutely no basis to believe she would do a world tour on 2018, when she has no new music planned to be released until later in 2018... What is she going to perform then, what is she going to call the "tour" again, "live 2018" and perform again the same old thing bunch of hits??? There's only so much "hits" tour with no new music that she can do. Edited September 18, 2017 at 09:00 PM by Javito 5 Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
Brandon Posted September 18, 2017 at 09:33 PM Posted September 18, 2017 at 09:33 PM (edited) She could if she wanted to perform a special show, she has the drive. But she would never do it. Because it's not cost effective for her.Un membre de la team céline a dit qu’ils préparait quelques choses degrand pour 2018 !!!!I won't hold my breath I went to see Paul McCartney a few years ago. The fans will most definitely stay for the longer set list, and I can assure you, no one will be complaining. See, this is something I'll never understand - and I'm a casual fan too. The idea of "well, I don't know the song so I'm not interested in hearing it live" just doesn't compute in my head. Most of the shows I go to and love, I don't know the vast majority of the songs played. That's precisely the beauty of it. I'm not interested in merely hearing the same stuff I've already heard on some record. But what you say highlights an important point. Much as we here like to protest about how Celine's shows - especially Vegas - are same old, most of the audience consists of casual fans. To them, Celine doing some deep cut from her back catalogue might elicit the same "really, another one?" response as yours / your friends' to Paul McCartney doing anything outside of the immediately recognizable Beatles catalogue. That, I'm afraid, is the "good problem to have" that comes along with being a legacy (ahem "legend") artist. Lots of people come because it's a bucket list item, not because they're an up-to-date fan aware of / interested in the artist's catalogue beyond the most obvious & recognizable. 3 Quote

Just wanted to clarify my post: I didn't have any problem with him singing unknown songs. I actually enjoy discovering new songs at concerts. I really just had a problem with the sheer length of it tbh. When I attended my first Céline-concert last year, I knew about 30% of the songs and look where that got me lol 2 Quote

Yes and no.I was obsessed with her around the time she released 'All the way/A decade of song', but I didn't even know she was a native French-speaker at the time (no internet lol). I only discovered with 1 filles & 4 types (still my fave). But then she completely lost me with Miracle, which I thought was the lamest thing ever. From then on I followed her from a distance, only to re-discover her around the end of 2015. And "I will never be the same one" 😁 3 Quote

I became a fan, I hate to admit, because o my heart will go on. My parents bought me the LTAL album for my sweet sixteen birthday, and for Christmas in 1999 I got All The Way. I followed her somewhat closely throughout the 2000's and got all the English albums the day they were released. But it was when I went to the theater and heard Through The Eyes of the World that I felt like I KNEW her. That's when she reeeeeeeeeeally got a hold of me. Then in 2011 I discovered her French work. So it's been a twisty turny road for me, too. anyway, back on topic before the mods warn me about it...I have been on a real live 2017 kick lately and no kidding, she was so beyond amazing this Summer!!!! 2 Quote L'immensite de mon amour pour Celine! Worst English album in my opinion. I think Miracle was a special project for Celine who went through her own roller coaster of emotions when it came to becoming pregnant. She wasn't looking for any type of a chart topping album, it was just a personal project for her. Miracle was an incredibly special album for me, but only because the timing was absolutely perfect. It was released at the exact same time I was pregnant with our first child. I listened to it non-stop while I was pregnant and into our son's first year. I could see how it would be a hard album for others to connect with though. I would drive around listening to it in my car and just cry tears of joy. Those darn pregnancy hormones! lol Now that my boys are older I don't listen to the album, but it definitely holds a special place in my heart and conjures up beautiful memories. And to keep on topic - I miss this summer tour so much!!!!! LOL I wasn't able to attend any of the summer tour dates, but my gosh - it was EPIC! So excited to see what next summer might bring. In fact, there may be an announcement on this not too far in the future (aka November).Interesting praying you are right on this one. Now if you hear anything about a Vegas DVD please let us know. You've always been really helpful with dates and such so that's why I am praying maybe you will also hear something bout that eventually as well They did the (backstage) photoshoots last year and this year.Didn't know this thank you for that info! Worst English album in my opinion. I don't think it's bad as an album. It's just not my cup of tea for everyday listening, as I am not a mom. A lot of fans fail to remember that this was not meant to be just a normal release. It was part of a concept project, targeted at a specific audience. As for what it was, it performed well. In the US alone, it peaked at number 4 on the Billboard 200, and has been certified for over 1 million copies. Not bad for a collection of lullabies and a book full of babies. 3 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay
