CelinesDIVO5 Posted August 6, 2017 at 06:48 PM Posted August 6, 2017 at 06:48 PM Yeah thanks for that. I know he already had a career before he worked with Celine. But if he is talking about working on the current show a 5 minute spot would not make for a very fulfilling working life no matter who you are working with. Surely he would want more in his life than that. Depends on how much money he's making for those 5 minute spots lol 1 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay
scielle Posted August 6, 2017 at 06:51 PM Posted August 6, 2017 at 06:51 PM Well, I for one am glad I got my fix last year because that tour was much more up my alley than this one. But the absolute best thing about this year was seeing Celine go out and have fun, meet people, experience new things. Hope it's not just a summer / Paris phenomenon going forward. Well, that and Le Ballet. Never mind Pepe; she could just stand there wearing a garbage bag (ha!) and sing it and I'd be over the moon. It's been my favourite Celine song for years, so thrilled she brought it back to the stage.Oh, and Refuse to Dance, too. If there's one song in her back catalogue that I always wished she'd bring back, it's that one. So bravo on the song selection front. 5 Quote

Seeing Celine on home soil was amazing and in the context of what had just happened made it all the more poignant. The crowd was amazing. Plus I just love Quebec generally, it was the trip that just kept on giving. And I did Paris on my Birthday. Was great having Celine in the UK again though this year and I enjoyed the shows in Lyon and Bern. I have however found some of the off stage stuff this year an annoying distraction from the tour. Not that I object to anything Celine has done, I think just some things have got out of control in the press and sometimes on here and that slightly detracted from it. Although I would say that that healing process was continued into the shows this year too. Whilst the main purpose of the shows this year was to entertain, there were a lot of genuinely emotional moments where she was wearing her heart on her sleeve and you could still feel her grief. 5 Quote

Yes, absolutely. But I think the overall tone and aim was visibly different. As it should be.Last year was special and something I don't think we'll see again, not only because it was so soon after losing Rene, but also because she really didn't feel beholden to keep doing the same old hits. She went to the songs that were personal and resonated with her for one reason or another, and I don't think we'll ever get that again to the same extent. She probably feels she needs to give the general public the hits or people will walk away feeling they missed out. Whereas last year she was very much in the "f*** it, this time it doesn't matter, this is for me and Rene" frame of mind. And I loved that. 4 Quote

Totally, so many of the songs last year she has chosen for the lyrics and how they applied to her life at that moment. It was also interesting to see how some songs such as 'Je T'aime Encore' took on a new and unexpected meaning. Was very powerful. There was a section of that this year in the French shows and in the original English set list, and that part in Lyon was one of the best bits for me of this tour. But last year that was what the whole show was like! Edited August 6, 2017 at 07:29 PM by RosieBarron 2 Quote

ivo Posted August 6, 2017 at 07:51 PM Posted August 6, 2017 at 07:51 PM I think this last tour and the 2016 tour can't be compared. They were totally different. Last year was amazing, i attended the final show in Paris. As exciting as the setlist was I kind of missed some songs like for example JSP. Don't get me wrong, the show was amazing but I can imagine that for a casual fan the setlist was not what they wanted to hear. This year it was Celine on fire again, very nice to attend a full english show for the first time since 1999. For me this tour was as good, maybe even better, than 2016. I have attended 3 French concerts over the years, the first one in 2008, the second one in 2013 and the third one in 2016. For me the 2013 concert was the best french concert I attended. It was simply amazing! Glad to be finally able to attend an english show this tour!!!!! 5 Quote Amsterdam 18-06-1997 - Amsterdam 14-06-1999 - London 10-07-1999 - Antwerpen 14-05-2008 - Antwerpen 21-11-2013 - Las Vegas 10-10-2015 - Paris 09-07-2016 - Arnhem 23-06-2017

Davar Posted August 6, 2017 at 07:59 PM Posted August 6, 2017 at 07:59 PM I don't really get you guys what you see wrong with her hair in London? I think it was the best hair she had of all shows, really with volume and spot on! Probably you prefer the flat look she had on Billboards last year? If only she had looked THIS way on Billboards 2016 and 2017... Because it's not flattering for her face shape at all and it wasn't in then and it certainly isn't in now. Quote

I think we are seeing her happier in a way when she's in Paris. She's out more and we get to see her do stuff we aren't used to see her do. Sure she's happier that she has been for a while but it doesn't mean wasn't this happy before René got sick. Her life was just different. She had her husband and her kids to go home to. Now she has her kids but no husband to fulfill her life. She undoubtedly loves spending time with her kids but also need to do grown up stuff. I think today she's doing things that she maybe always really wanted to do but since maybe René didn't want to and that held her back (just speculation) 6 Quote

That humming has been for me one of the best surprises of this show, and the best opening she has done for a tour The tour is over and I still can't get enough of that humming. It all started the 21st in London  Because it's not flattering for her face shape at all and it wasn't in then and it certainly isn't in now. To each his own! I for one think that in 1997 Memphis it didn't suit her at all and make her look old, whereas today in 2017 it totally fits her and makes her beautiful! Javito Posted August 6, 2017 at 08:33 PM Posted August 6, 2017 at 08:33 PM The only thing that this tour has been missing is a new single out. God knows that if she had premiered a new English single whilst performing in London or yesterday in Glasgow, people would have been nuts and reactions from the press would have been scandalously overwhelming, with the popularity she has achieved in Europe during this tour. Just like they did with LMBTL in Québec in 2013... But the ship has sailed now 4 Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

That was something I had to fulfil ! It's so exciting going to see Celine / looking forward to it , travelling to exciting places all adds to it ...... Then boom after a few hours it's over ...... But somehow we have to be ok ...... I'm sure there are lots of other people who are a mess ! I saw lots of people crying at the end of the show last night ! I think I'm just focusing on the fact , she will tour again / maybe next summer ?? I know in my heart I will always travel to see her ...... So it's never over then ...... Only for a while ...... Until then we have all the deranged Celine news on this forum to keep us occupied !! 😊😊😂😂 5 Quote http://i66.tinypic.com/2dk08jn.gifRIP Rene Angelil xx Sending Love and Prayers to Celine

sfbaysinger Posted August 6, 2017 at 10:29 PM Posted August 6, 2017 at 10:29 PM I do think it would have been a smart idea to premiere a new single like LMBTL during Une Seule Fois. But i also think it's fine the way things went. I don't think Rene ever wanted meant or intended to hold her back from anything she ever wanted to do. What I think is that it's a DIFFERENT kind of happiness. Kind of like how you can't compare apples to oranges, you might like them both but at different times/moods and for different reasons. I don't think she regrets a moment of her life with Rene and the kids, but now that that's gone/done, she's finding a different, other kind of happiness. Perhpas this kind, this brand, this flavor, suits some, the more outgoing, nightlife-ish kind, while the old way and day suited the more family type of people. Neither one is wrong. This is what I wish all forums and public communities could get, we differ, but neither opinion is WRONG. It's differe.t Why do we have to judge or label things, good bad, right wrong, etc. Now, about the difference between this and last year, I first of all never saw either live. Second, i too do not think they can be compared. Here is this concept again, because this is about preference. We have no right to argue or tell someone else what their preference should be. Truth be told I did like last year better. But, there were also amazing things about this year, too. I LOVED, let me say that again, LOVED sooooooooooooo many more songs from Encore Un Soir album than last year. I never ever ever thought we'd hear Si Cetait a Refaire live, but boy did we! Thankfully. I also loved the humming at the beginning of the power of love, soooooo amazing. A vous, what a crowd pumper-upper, I know that's not a word, at least it sure did seem to pep up the crowd. L'etoile was also one I did not think she would do. What I did like about this tour was that there was both a French and English leg this time. Last year, while I have no doubt she could have handled both, I think it was just easier, mentally and emotionally, for the focus to only be on her native tongue and not have to worry about conveying in English what she really needed to say. This year, I think she was more than ready. The fact that TCOML was cut kind of interferred with that special section in the middle of the English set, but Recovering kept in mostly in tact. I did love that Je Sais Pas was done this year as well as On Ne Change Pas. I missed those two last year and am still missing Destin but let's not get in to requests I/we wish she had done as I/we have several. lol 3 Quote L'immensite de mon amour pour Celine! L'amour existe encore pour elle!
