I think what people need to remember is that, the vast majority of people who go to the shows aren't what you'd called hardcore fans. They just love & appreciate Céline's music.

 

This will have an impact on what songs they do during the shows. People want to hear the classics, the most famous songs & many may not know her more 'obscure' songs, for want of a better word.

 

I think some should remember this before slating every show for songs you may or may not want to hear.

 

There's a lot of negative talk on here at times, which I find really difficult to read. I also think it has an impact on those who are yet to go to the concerts, putting a bit of a downer on things.

 

If you don't like the songs she does & you're not at the shows, find your iPod or whatever & listen to your favourites or the songs that make you happy!

 

I am so happy to be able to see Céline again that, whatever she sings, I am happy. She could never in a million years do a show where she sings everyone's favourites. She'd be on stage for an eternity!!

 

As a 'fan base' we are so incredibly lucky. I think we should celebrate that more ❤️

This argument always makes me laugh. Going by this theory, songs such as "I Surrender," "Tous les blues...," "Destin," and "Regarde-moi" should have never been performed because they weren't singles. Yet, they are crowd pleasers, and people love seeing them performed.

This is when I miss what they did in 2013 with JDDMT/DMQS/Incognito medley. Why the hell they didn't come up with a French medley for the French leg of the tour? If they do one for the English shows, shouldn't they do the same for the French concerts? It's such a nosense.

True, but it doesn't help that Céline only tours every decade (in non-French countries). I really agree with you and I hope she'll do that someday. But it's better to perform "rare" songs when she tours more often. Especially on this tour (in the non-French countries) people wanted to hear the hits.

 

If she comes back next year or the year after that, then I would say perform songs from the new English album AND lesser known tracks.

But...whenever she sings a song that she already sang at a previous tour (Tous les Blues, Immensité...) people on here will be disappointed because the song in question 'already had its moment'and they'll 'wish she'd do x or y instead...'

I couldn't agree more with this!!

 

She told us this tour was going to be all the hits, and that is exactly what she's given us. It's not a tour to promote an album!!

 

People on here keep commenting on how she should do rarer songs but I can say from my experience at the Leeds show, where the atmosphere was electric, and cos of this it was only highlighted more for me, the audience losing interest slightly when she sung the lesser known songs. Certainly, where I was sitting the crowd lost interest when she sung RTD and LIAWN and it picked back up when she started to sing BOW. Also for those saying do more French songs, again, sadly, most people near me got up to go for drinks when she sung PQTME. So it's clear to me that the bulk of people who go to see her, go to hear the hits that she's known for. We are biased as we are die hard fans and really it's slightly selfish of us to hope for rare songs cos that would be unfair to the general public IMHO.

 

I have seen Celine on tour in the UK every time she has toured here since 1995 and this to me is the ultimate setlist BECAUSE it's based on all the hits!!!

 

I have gotta say that I've been a member of this forum for 10 years and although I don't often comment, I always love to catch up with all things Celine related on here but just lately I feel that the negativity is getting too much, it's like Celine can't win in some people's eyes. Shouldn't we as fans not just be thankful that she's still doing this for us cos she clearly doesn't have too.

 

I will always love Celine and though may not always agree fully with everything she does, for example the whole fashion thing doesn't appeal to me but as long as she's happy I'm ok with it and that goes for everything she decides to do with this new chapter of her life.

Let's begin with the staging and the opening : really? Have you seen "The power of love" video? Any school show is better. I know it was daylight.... but come on'! There are engineers and light experts or whatever who set up those professional shows and whose job is to think about it and adapt accordingly.Basically it was Céline in front of a black curtain !

 

Then the setlist ! The shortest one and she is like " Hey I'm Céline , last year I released my most successfull album in Switzerland of the decade (if not more) , so to thank you I'm not gonna sing one single song off it"

 

From one point, this is no more whining according personal tastes, it's just pure sense.

I agree, the concert just didn't feel right. The energy from the crowd, the staging, the timing, the setlist... but at least it was just one show.

And people here need to let others voice their opinions objectively without getting attacked. Just because it's not the "positive I'm obsessed and agree with everything Celine does", does not mean it's whining or complaining.

Welcome to Céline's contradictory world and her constant neglectful decisions against her own material. Bring on the Queen songs and more covers in her shows (if there are any untouchable songs in the setlist, those are the covers!!) but yeah, let's totally neglect her own latest album and most successful release in years in the country!

I for one say fair play to her for not just coming out and don't the same French setlist that she's been doing of late cos that would have been the comfortable thing for her to do. Given the fact this show was right in the middle of her French setlist shows.

 

Everyone here would have complained if she had just done that. As it was they got the bulk of the English setlist, a few French doozies including 'Le Ballet' with that hot dance so what's to complain about.

 

The fact was the crowd were asleep and of course the lack of energy resonates to Celine on stage.

 

With regards to it being daylight, I mean come on what the f**k can she do about that. How do we know that she didn't start earlier cos the curfew was earlier??

 

At this point I can see Celine can't do right in some people's eyes here and I really don't know what you want from her.

I agree with this... It was still daylight into the middle of the set - no lighting designer can help this! The crowd was dead it seems...

 

Glad she included "Le ballet" and I *hope* she adds it to the English tours as well!

 

Honestly though, I think she should've done "I Drove All Night" in lieu of "Dans un autre monde," and "Si c'etiat a refaire" in place of "S'il suffisait d'aimer"... "Encore un soir" should've been performed in the place of PQTMAE and she should've replaced LOML with PQTMAE in the encore... I think we would all be much more satisfied with this English/French setlist mix.

She was in Switzerland. She could have made it an extra special night by performing "Ne partez pas sans moi" instead of so many other English songs which were in the setlist. Also, if this tour was about the "hits," then "Encore un soir" definitely belongs in the set.

 

I am understanding to the fact that there are certain songs which "must" be performed. (That is unless she wanted to take a truly artistic approach like she came close to doing last year.) However, when random covers like "Black Or White" are performed in place of other songs, that is when the annoyance factor comes into play. Plus, the entire middle section of Switzerland's setlist seems so incredibly ballad driven and one dimensional. Ballad after ballad after ballad after ballad after ballad. The show needed more diversity in the middle. I'm not saying it had to be ballad, then dance anthem, then ballad, then dance anthem, etc. However, the set's mid section definitely needed more character to it.

"Ne me quitte pas" was performed during the first incarnation of the Vegas residency, "Celine." It was later removed. I honestly hope it never returns to any of her setlists. Her version of the song has never done a thing for me. Besides, there are other songs from the Sans attendre album which deserve to see the light of day onstage, such as what you said about "Attendre" and "Les jours comme ca." "Les jours comme ca" is one of my favorites off that album. I'm so glad I wound up buying the deluxe edition and not the standard edition!
