I think this is a fun idea and Celine would sound fantastic on many of those songs --- however I saw some not-so-nice comments when Celine posed with a poster from the film. Some Freddy Mercury fans seems to not love Celine very much so that might cause some issues.

 

For sure, I could see people having a really negative reaction. If nothing else, I'd love to have a studio version of Love Of My Life (and I wish the version of TSMGO they released was better).

Agreed! Would LOVE a studio version of LOML and it's a shame we didn't get a better version of TSMGO but I'm thankful for the Billboard performance!

Sorry for a slightly off-topic post, but I saw Bohemian Rhapsody over the weekend, and ever since, I cannot stop thinking about the idea of Celine doing a Queen cover album someday! I know we all go back and forth on the covers debate, but she has always been vocal about her love for Freddie Mercury and Queen, she's performed multiple Queen songs in her shows over the years, and I think she is one of the few vocalists who could do justice to their songs. (Plus, it would be an excuse to re-record TSMGO and do that song justice with some amazing production and vocals.) Critics would probably say that she can't pull off true rock songs like that, and I'm not saying she should necessarily cover "We Will Rock You" on an album, but I think well-chosen songs from their catalog could be amazing from her ("Love Of My Life" :wub: ). If Celine were ever to do a full covers album dedicated to one artist/band, I think Queen would be the one to do.

 

I said in this very thread a couple of days ago that I had a dream she was announcing this at her upcoming interview. This would be an absolute dream come true for me too and she did mention that she would love to do this back in the For Keeps book so maybe just maybe one day, fingers crossed!

 

There are so many beautiful Queen ballads that she could do, it doesn’t have to be about the rock stuff, for example:

 

Who Wants To Live Forever

Too Much Love Will Kill You

Save Me

Spread Your Wings

These Are The Days Of Our Lives

You’re My Best Friend

Somebody To Love

Love Of My Life (of course)

In My Defence (Freddie Mercury solo song)

The list goes on, I’ve given a bit of thought to this, can you tell?! Lol

Yes, I love this! Your post from a few days ago is what prompted my post, because I was glad I wasn't the only person thinking about this! Let's write a letter to Celine to convince her, haha! I agree on settling for an EP, too. Now I am daydreaming about how great she'd be on those songs...

I think she’d be amazing at these songs!

 

Who cares what Queen fans think!! Being a massive Queen fan myself I would think it an honour for someone of Celine’s stature to want to cover them, a true testament to their timeless music. Singers like Shirley Bassey has even covered them.

 

I really wish she would consider it.

That would have to mean she actually cares about the music. It’s clear she cares more about clothing than the music.

I’m not against her breaking out and doing other things. I’m against taking on too much when it clearly comes at the detriment of her music releases and shows. Nobody here can deny the fact the final part of her concerts has needed a refresh for years. Having LCMM/RDMH and MHWGO in the same positions is an example. Do the clothing, fine, but show some respect to the craft that got her to where she is today. That’s my two cents.

I would love Celine to record something like this. Easy to sing, emotional, modern yet classy...

Of course she can do other projects, and I love all she does. What bothers me is the fact that she is showing so much passion for things not related to music and she seems not interested at all in her own music. I know the album is not out yet, but let's remember that even though 2017 tour was amazing in many aspects, she was promoting Encore Un Soir in French dates, and she only sang 4 songs from the album. She seemed more interested in being photograped outside the hotel than in singing her new songs. And I fear the same will happen with the new album, as has happened before with LMBTL, SA, D'elles, etc.

The thing is that even though she puts effort in the studio to record the album, she seems no interested at all in singing her new songs .
