I understand why she has cancelled her shows it's been hard on her to sing. But I've said it before- I'd pay the same amount of money to see her come out in her bathrobe, sit on a chair and read the newspaper out loud lol. I also wouldn't care if she lipsynched her entire show. I just would want to be in her presence!!

I would do the same. Id pay to see her come out in a bathrobe or sweatpants, read the paper , lipsynch songs, the phone book , I don't care. For sure what I would really love ( other than listen to her sing of course) is to have her sit in a chair and just let her talk about Rene , the boys her family, for whatever amount of time she wanted. LOL Just to be there would be enough

Yes Billboard please!

But who knows...

Hope they let us know something

Going O/T one moment... well her voice did start to deteriorate in 2004 and never became like it was (so no it def wasn't the husband, at least not in that way (more in a stress kind of way) and the timing of the tick/Lyme's cause does make sense..)

Anyway, I hope Céline recovers swiftly and returns to Vegas in May. Preferably with a bang at the Billboards.

I adore this video!!! Can’t believe I’ve never seen it before. What was this performance for? Do you know of any other videos gems of performances like this?!

Makes me wonder about all of the magnificent Celine performances we’ve never seen footage of before. Especially before cellphone videos were so easy.

I always wished A New Day... live in Vegas received a better CD release. Her voice was not in top shape on that live album.

The best I’ve ever personally heard her sound live was at the Vegas show premiere in March 2011. It was crystal clear, rested, and powerful. I was so happy to be there!

I also wanna hear those Phil Spector recordings!

The stress, food, smoke, pollution, hot and cold

Those things has a big influence in the voice

And a woman after the 40's star loosing their voice

A big example is Diane Ross.

And don't forget, the voice is their instrument

And believe is not easy for an artist

Nothing new in the Paris Match article. The heading says "Céline is in good hands according to Claudette".

And then they say exactly what Claudette said on TV the other day.

I hope Celine takes all the time necessary to fully recover and she deserves it she doesn't owe anyone, anything. But a part of me is really seeing that a Celine post Rene is alot more fast to cancel a show than a Celine with Rene by her side. Nothing against what I'm saying it's just something I've noticed. Not saying she isn't trying to cope and go on, but I feel like Rene as hee manager gave her the extra "push" to go on the past and now I feel like she's probably more fast to cancel a show then when Rene was around.

She herself even said that the mantra he lived by was. " The Show Must Go On".

Most importantly, I wish her all the best and hope that she takes AS LONG as needed to be ready to come back, when she decides she's well enough to return we will be there with more standing ovations than ever before!

I was just in Vegas and man oh man was I depressed about not going next week to the bday show  We had two weekend trips planned and both were in Vegas and Arizona so I was feeling pretty sad this time! My hope is that Celine Dion recovers well and that she gets better because that's the most important thing right now!!!

It was really really nice meeting you :)

Yeah Vegas is depressing right now. They just changed the Caesars Palace sign from Reba to Jerry Seinfeld. I'm sitting in my room, watching it happening, hoping they would celebrate Célines 50th but nope.

The Press

For 15 years, for Celine Dion, returning home is to land in Las Vegas. In 2003, Rene Angélil and she chose this city of Nevada, its millions of tourists, its electrifying energy, its desert landscapes and its poker tables to make their life there, not only to make a career there. Yes, Celine is a Las Vegan. At night, she rules the Strip. During the day, she broods on her three children. Let's talk about ... Vegas.

While Las Vegas is still dreaming, her extravagant mayor Carolyn Goodman is awake. She worries about the health of her most famous resident in the world. The day before (last Wednesday), Celine Dion canceled the performances she was to give in the next month, since she suffers from a disorder in the ear for which she will have to undergo an operation.

"Let her take her time and listen to her doctor's recommendations, we love her health," says Carolyn Goodman, in her huge office in Old Las Vegas.

Two hours later, in the middle of the crystal, Caesars Palace-like slot machines and Persian rugs, is Ramona Almirez, an admirer who has seen more than 500 Celine performances in Las Vegas. One show out of two. Always in the first rows. That is to say, the price of $ 400 to $ 500 each time.

She is also concerned about the health of her idol, whom she meets regularly after performances to exchange and take pictures.

"Of course, I was going to be there for her birthday [March 30] ... But honestly, I especially want her to get back into shape," says the resident of Nevada, a retired scientist.

Her friend Christine Despins, a nurse who works a lot of overtime to regularly see Celine on stage, began to worry about "her" singer at the beginning of January.

"Ramona and I noticed something was wrong," she said, showing a picture of them with the star, backstage, a few days after the New Year.

"She then canceled some shows, but she still came back one evening, when Adele came to see her. She should not have. It certainly has not helped her situation, "says Christine Despins, also a resident of Nevada.

If the operation at his ear works, the diva will return to the Colosseum stage from May to June. For now, no other show series in Las Vegas has been announced. Celine Dion's contract with Caesars Palace expires in 2019.

Does the Quebec singer think of changing theater? Or to stop singing in Las Vegas? Radio silence from his team.

On the other hand, the mayor speaks herself! She can not imagine that the star would leave Nevada. "I do not even want to answer that question! It's not a possibility in my head. It will not arrive. She has a wonderful life here, even though I know she misses her husband every day, "says Carolyn Goodman, whose professional card is a poker chip.

Céline led the way

"I'll go where you'll go." That was the business philosophy of the Angélil-Dion clan. Instead of dizzying on international tours, why not settle in a theater? People will move to see Celine. Because they are millions to love him. Because it's Celiiiiine, as her sister Claudette would say. A risky gamble, because, at the time, Vegas still trailed a reputation of end-of-career city. But this time like so many others, the tandem played the right card. He was there when the city began to reinvent itself. He was part of the "new" Las Vegas.

"Céline is unique because she has a huge career in French and English. No one else has this power of attraction. This is one of the secrets of his success. It allows him to attract tourists from all over the world. I repeat: very, very few artists can do what it does, over such a long time, "says AEG Live Las Vegas vice president, John Nelson.

From the start, it was a success of the thunder. The Colosseum, a hall built for the Queen of Charlemagne among others, was crowded. Nightly. A hundred nights. Three hundred nights. Nine hundred nights. And vlan, the record of Elvis Presley was beaten. Celine Dion is now approaching 1100 performances.

The whole city has benefited from the success of René and Céline, according to Mitch Garber, former CEO of Caesars. "You will not find a person in Vegas who will say otherwise."

In the "city of the game" and the "capital of vice", three theaters can now host the biggest international stars: Zappos Theater, Park Theater and the Colosseum. In residence, there are Jennifer Lopez, Lionel Richie, Rod Stewart, Britney Spears, Shania Twain, Cher, Mariah Carey and many others. Lady Gaga will land there by the end of the year, from the top of his hallucinating shoes.

"All of this, new venues and artists, it's because of Celine."

Brock Radke, a journalist with the Las Vegas Sun daily for almost 20 years, agrees that these stars would never have appeared before Hurricane Dion. "There was a bad aura around an artist coming to Vegas. It was like admitting that his career was downhill. "

He adds with pride, "Celine has allowed us to reach another level in entertainment. Think about it: the most famous DJ in the world, Calvin Harris, is here every Friday night. Bruno Mars, the biggest pop star at the moment, has been here regularly for two years, "says the journalist specializing in arts and entertainment.

About the tourist attraction that this city represents, the ex-dragon Mitch Gerber speaks of a radical change: "In 2006, 65% of the income in Las Vegas came from the game. Today, it is only 35 %. The game has become a secondary reason for tourists. The main reasons are entertainment and retailers. "

His life in the community

Since the end of last fall, Celine Dion has recorded her fifth album in a row at Studio At The Palms, located in a casino hotel just three minutes from the Strip. Again, the list of stars who have pushed the bill is category A +: Beyoncé, Eminem, Michael Jackson, Usher, Katy Perry ... And also, among the regulars, the choir of a very popular church in Nevada.

When producer and multi-instrumentalist Zoe Thrall talks about Céline, she puts a hand on her heart in memory of René Angélil. "A gentleman so intelligent. What a loss. "

About Celine, she has only sweet thoughts: "His voice is such a rare gift. I have a lot of respect for her and I do not say that because you are here. It's so rare, "says Zoe Thrall, who argues that the recording studio is among the best in the world.

Celine Dion lives in the upscale Lake Vegas neighborhood, located fairly close to the Strip, but so far away from this ocean of bright signs and incessant sensory bombardment. It's quiet and peaceful in Lake Vegas. There is a pedestrian minivillage where life is good. A delicatessen, a plaza, a lot of gelato and a bistro that plays French songs. Everything is arranged around an artificial lake. And, yes, it is possible to kayak.

A gatehouse, however, prevents tourists (and journalists!) From visiting the private community where Celine Dion's residence is located. His sister Linda, godmother of her three sons, and her husband, Alain Sylvestre, also live in this wealthy neighborhood.

The Quebec touch

These are not the only Quebecers who followed Céline in Nevada. The singer has her province tattooed on her heart and she hires a lot of Quebeckers.

"I feel that for key positions, of equal competence, she has a preference for Quebeckers," says its music director, Scott Price. Celine speaks English perfectly, but I think when it can happen in French, she likes it. "

When Scott Price plays in Las Vegas, he occupies a room at Caesars Palace. Among the thirty musicians, several others do the same. "It's funny, but when I've been outside Vegas for a while and come back to Caesars, it's really like I'm going home," he says.

Living on the Strip four months a year, it must be ... something, right?

"Yes, it's something ... I would not say otherwise," laughs the first violin, Philippe Dunnigan. On the other hand, the hotel rooms are so huge that it's still not that bad. It's not James Bay! And they give us per diem, in addition to having access to the cafeterias of the hotel. I even bought myself a small fridge and a hob, so when I'm tired, I'm eating. "

He is not tanned. Especially because he has the chance to work with "the great Celine Dion". This phenomenal voice that "has no limit", in addition to the laughter it causes and tears too.

"It's like a racehorse. When that goes, this case is not stopable. "

Whether it's him, Scott Price or the two faithful fans of Las Vegas, they are unanimous when it comes to telling the time when the diva has touched them the most. Last January, a hot woman came on stage to kiss Celine and talk to him. The video (filmed by Ramona Almirez!) Became viral and went around the world.

"If I come so often to see Céline, it's because of her interactions with the public. It's always special, she improvises. Like this: she was so kind to the woman, it was very touching to see. She's a real nice guy, "says Ramona Almirez, from the Philippines.

All the people met greet the authenticity of the singer. The Celine of admirers is the Celine they rub shoulders with. Celine does not play, she is. And it's one of the secrets of his longevity. "We do not change," she has sung for 20 years

Let's chill. You're the one jumping to conclusions.. if your reading skills were on point, you'd realize that i never said Rene would "make her go onstage ". I said that in the past he had pushed her and tried to support her to go onstage in her tough times. I know that she cannot perform, so don't make it sound like i said she was playing hookie. But nobody can deny at least with Rene at the helm the CANCELLED shows were handled better. I mean thats just a fact. Now please DO NOT put words in my mouth.

You sat there and said : shes alot more fast to cancel a show.

In 2017 she cancelled 1 date. Due to her back spasms. In 2016 she cancelled one night when rene died and was right back in Vegas after. She cancelled 4 (i think) dates in November due to a viral infection (which is important and she cancelled even more in 2011-2014 than she did now) she cancelled in 2018 her Vegas shows in January due to a serious viral infection, which once again is important. Shes cancelled her March shows 6 days in advance because she needs important surgery (the surgery is a matter of her lifeline, her talent, her whole life) which no one can deny her of.

I came off as a little more... aggressive than i meant

What i meant is that she isnt doing what you are saying. You said shes faster to cancel when its almost the opposite. You said rene would push her but these are completely different circumstances, he would push her during AND to keep going when she felt like it was all a waste of time. Shes suffered a viral infection and Autophony, both no one would push her for because its serious.

You came off as ignorant as you kept saying he would push her when its completely different circumstances and you aren’t taking those into account when saying she cancels fast. Thats all

The Vegas overexposure and abuse of her voice during lots of years... The constant touring and performing during the latest years was also too much. Always pushing for more and more and more shows and tours...

If Adele being half her age or younger singers have to cancel sometimes and they don't even perform half at the pace Céline does, imagine how insane Céline's performing habits have been since decades, with around 1,500 shows done only in the last 15 years.

I always said it was an abuse for her and would end up damaging her voice... The body has memory of its habits. Hope that surgery is handled with the best procedures and care, and more over, hope she reconsiders for the future her incessant performing activity, either in Vegas (now really hoping it comes to an END) or anywhere. I'm sure we all want more albums to come from her, and with a damaged voice, neither concerts nor new albums will come

It isnt her voice thats damaged. PET can happen to literally anyone. Children, Adults, The Elderly, Animals..... Her voice is fine (ish), its her middle ear not closing that makes her unable to hear properly therefore making singing extremely difficult, talking too.

Amen! No need to sing there each year. Have a well deserved rest, bring out beautiful music and take all the time you need. Vegas has had its time imo. Time for a new chapter and first of all, time to think about yourself and your health, esspecially your precious voice.

Do you think it’s better if they do a show that changes every year. Every year they will change the look of the show, the setlists, etc. Like updating it or improving it like what they did back in AND.

Have you noticed every time they do a new show, the audience gets so excited? Because there’s changes. They love to see new changes.

2011 (new show) (only setlist changed) (audience are alive only in early year of shows)

2015 (revamped show) (more changes)(better setlists) audience are more alive now compared before.
