phoebekins Posted September 13, 2016 at 01:02 AM Posted September 13, 2016 at 01:02 AM and I don't like Céline being used to make fun of - because she knows Céline will do goofy and act like a clown if she pushes the right buttons. And she perfectly knows how to get Céline there! And Céline should be told that she must stop the Sia and Michael Jackson out of nowhere singing. She must say no to these games. Someone should tell her not to make a fool out of herself. Stay professional. I actually agree. She is such an intelligent and interesting woman. I think that Céline has way more smarts and awareness than people give her credit for. I also believe she has more of a take-charge personality that people realize. I'd like to see that side of her come out more. I think it's been dormant all these years... let's let it out, baby!! Just my humble opinion. And I agree, the Jimmy Fallon thing was great. But now, these games are getting a bit old and it comes off as juvenile (the games, not her). She's a funny person, and she's game to cooperate, but I think that should be discouraged from now on. CelineAndRene Posted September 13, 2016 at 04:33 AM Posted September 13, 2016 at 04:33 AM I really get the feeling Ellen doesn't like celine very much at all.... Agreed. She was nice to Celine at Divas Las Vegas and the 2004 interview (on tape), but since 2007 Ellen has been incredibly awkward and bluntly rude to Celine. I think all the years on her show has gone to her head a bit. I don't get excited when Celine is on her show anymore. 1 Quote "...It's the circle of life. You gotta look forward. LVCeline Posted September 13, 2016 at 05:34 AM Posted September 13, 2016 at 05:34 AM A few thoughts after seeing the Ellen stuff. I've said it from the beginning, I don't think her and Ellen have any chemistry. I've found all three of her appearances cringe-worthy. I love both of them separately, just not together. Ellen had always been very awkward at interviewing guests, even though she's very funny. I have also found her impromptu singing on Jimmy Fallon and now Ellen to be cringe-worthy. She looked so scared and uncomfortable both times, and the results haven't been great. She's extremely dry on those belts, like she needs to warm up. I know it's just for fun so I take it with a grain of salt, but as much as I'd like her to do carpool karaoke, I feel like it would be the same kind of results. Ellen looked super annoyed at celine during the one segment, like she was running out of time but celine kept going on. It was uncomfortable to watch, at least for me. Her performance was very nice, I loved her outfit, but this song is for sure My Love part 2, and it's going down the same road as far as live performances. It feels contrived to me. Her facial expressions seem very exaggerated and it's distracting for me (think Oprah performance exaggeration). As much as I love celine, I don't think her American talk show performances are pleasant at all to watch. The difference is night and day when you watch her on French TV shows. She seems so much more comfortable and at home, which is no surprise. I think it's partly celine, she keeps herself in a kind of bubble so she's like your grandma when it comes to anything current. She just seems out of touch to me and comes across as awkward when she's out of her element. 4 Quote

The think is, it was not enought time to flip the conversation for something more exciting, actually I blame Ellen for it, she couldve used the second half for talking about her new album, she doesnt even mention it!!! Like she was embarrassed to tell america about new french stuff, I just dont get it,Im pretty sure if Shakira or JLo released their spanish albums she wouldnt hesitate to mention it, how weird 4 Quote http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/320x240q90/853/qwz9.jpg

And besides, most US talk shows try to be funny with silly games and Céline wants to be a good sport playing along... even if English humor is not her forte. And when she goes to French shows, it's all about her - and not a quick segment where she has to be funny at all cost. And this is to her advantage. 3 Quote

All I can say is that I think in American shows she just doesn't have enough time to talk and chit-chat, so she does feel uncomfortable because she cannot develop her speech like she's been doing lately during the summer tour Jokes aside, I miss her interviews with Larry King. I think she felt at ease with him. And I think the recent Today Show interview with Kathy Lee wasn't bad at all! She stole the whole show almost, the poor Kathy was barely given the chance to speak all the time 3 Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
Brandon Posted September 13, 2016 at 11:40 AM Posted September 13, 2016 at 11:40 AM I'm sure most people changed their preconceptions after Paris! Most people are not even aware what Celine did in Paris. We're talking about the general public in America. Just basic, provincial people; they are not tuned into the haut-couture scene in Europe. For most of them their world is contained within the limits of their city or state and cable tv is usaully limited to local and american scene wow she looked so radiant, so .. i don't know, fine , the short hair looks great and I am even gonna say .. yes I will .. I kind of like... the outfit a bit more now.. she looked so in her comfortzone. Did not see the grudge from Ellen to Celine and Ellen was just professionally asking questions, it wasn't a long interview but Celine was talking most of the time and she was so calm and sparkled.Of course I did. Ellen could barely fake a smile. She has such hostility towards Celine. And Ellen, that aging old fart's time is up!lol what grudge i am sure there is no grudge or else she wouldn't have her on her showThat's not true at all. You don't know how TV works. It's not entirely up to Ellen who she has on her show. There's a million things going on in the background and contracts etc. money and lawyers and obligations involved. France (and Europe in general) don't have this (bad) habit to see and treat the host like it was a star. The guest is the most important person and the host doesn't take all the place. Shaun Posted September 13, 2016 at 11:47 AM Posted September 13, 2016 at 11:47 AM Celine would've known about the "rap section" before the show was recorded. Celine (through Aldo) is trying to maintain her profile and little features such as this do just that. Popular Post scielle Posted September 13, 2016 at 01:03 PM Popular Post Posted September 13, 2016 at 01:03 PM Awkward or not, all this is serving its purpose rather well. This kind of stuff is engineered to go viral and Celine has been trending on Facebook on and off for the past 5 days, thanks to this and the SU2C appearance. And she's getting all sorts of love for it on social media, blogs, press. And the tone is more '"well this is hilarious, she's a legend and such a good sport" rather than "this is hilarious, she's an annoying weirdo". So, much as many of us have seen her do Sia, MJ, Rihanna far too many times, the general public is lapping this up. 8 Quote

Celine (through Aldo) is trying to maintain her profile and little features such as this do just that. Twitter and Facebook general public love this kind of thing. I agree. I think Celine is much MUCH MUCH smarter than people give her credit for. She might have been surrounded by the best people but you don't get a 35-year career by being naive. She's sharp and knows exactly what she's getting herself into. And that's one of the things that I think make her so special...the fact that she manages to be so genuine and vulnerable at the same time as being sharp as a whip. She knows who Ellen is and what to expect and even if you look at it entirely from a business perspective, it wouldn't be to anyone's advantage for this TV appearance to go wrong or give the wrong impression. Ellen wants to do a show that gets high ratings/viewings and Celine wants to promote her song and the new chapter in her career and life. She knows that people like seeing her goofy side and she plays this very very well. Besides, if anything, her rapping (along with the Jimmy Fallon impressions) showed that she can do pretty much anything. I mean the woman can sing a phone book!!!! 4 Quote
