It's crazy to hear what they can do with her songs.

Memoire DAbraham is one of the songs I would love to see and hear a live performance!

Next to Cherche Encore I wonder why she never sang the whole deux album.

I agree, I strongly believe that one of the things missing in her career the last 10 years has been better arrangements or instrumental approaches on her songs. I hope Scott is taking notes. Same thing with the Berkee College tribute to her...they really brought new life into her songs and transformed them

But can we all agree the English version is the worst? The lyrics are so trite - completely changed the song.

So there's Pomme and Safia Nolin doing Celine cover shows at festivals, Ranee Lee releasing a full album of Celine covers in May (and doing an accompanying show at the Montreal Jazz Fest), Titanique is back in NYC for the summer for an off-Broadway run, and I see there's another Celine tribute show at Place des Arts in Montreal in May - Passion Celine.

I know there have been plenty of Celine tributes over the years, but I'm noticing more and more in places where she wouldn't have been found in the past, where she was historically dismissed. The arts world, it seems, is rediscovering her and finally starting to give her due respect. Love to see it.

I forget exactly where, but somewhere on this forum we had a list of songs about or mentioning Celine. (Anyone recall where?)

Man, I really wish she'd engage with these people paying tribute to her. A simple acknowledgement, social media shoutout, anything, really, in response to stories like these. There's so much lover for her out there, in English and French, from household names but also artists in other genres who you wouldn't normally associate with commercial pop (broadway, classical, jazz, country). I think it would do her a lot of good to embrace this rather than stay mum on it all.

I don’t think she even knows most of the time, and someone from her team has to show her these things which is why on the rare instance where she does respond it’s usually quite late. This is one downfall of Celine not being into social media, I wish she’d embrace the social media a little bit more and start liking other posts and commenting with fans. For example I see Mariah (who follows Celine on IG) but usually never likes many of her posts liked the Mother’s Day post, would’ve been nice to see Celine like other artists posts even.

Yeah, I don’t think for the most part she knows about these things.

Being sheltered has certainly kept her sane over the years but it hasn’t all been for the better.

I think she might keep a sly watchful eye. She responded quite quickly to that hockey jersey controversy and the Pepe-gate....whatever that was about, I forget by now.

I totally disagree.

 

While I think that musically, Celine's covers are mostly pointless ( meaning not a lot of arrangement change) and only stand out by her voice, Celine's version of "tu nages" has 1 major change to me compared to the original : they replaced the piano by a synthesizer.

 

This brings a mysterious, dark, misty atmosphere that fits right with the lyrics ( as a reminder : this is about coma or people who don't react).
