It seems TC has refused the offer by TVA of participating at Le Banquier with Julie Snyder... I really don't understand why. I like Julie and her interviews and I thought and still think she's one of Celine's friends. She was really moved at the funeral and in the interviews about René... so why's that? :hmm:

 

 

Many French-speaking newspapers and magazines have been saying in recent months that Céline and Julie have never been real friends and that Julie was actually a good friend of René.

Yes, I've been reading them. But in all the shows and the interviews they did together, I really can't say it seems just a "forced" relationship. They were enjoying their time together and having fun. I don't know... I just don't like thinking it was "fake"... :unsure:

This is true. Sure had me fooled!

If you want to see "forced" interviews just look at her last couple of interviews with Ellen lol.

I would lover if she never did an interview with Julie again.... I find her incredibly annoying.

I think it's great Aldo is doing his own thing. So far it's going great.

It doesn't necessarily mean it was fake, Celine can be polite and have a laugh with anyone. But I honestly think it's all down to Aldo. I'm glad he's not just following in Rene's footsteps. He's making his own decisions. Good for him.

Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....

I agree. And so far as I know, there was just one author who wrote 2 articles saying Celine and Julie weren't that close. Seems like idle gossip.

 

Celine always seemed to have a great time with Julie and be very comfortable with her. I think this is an irresponsible journalist making a mountain out of a molehill. Celine was on Le Banquier twice in about 8 years. I'm sure they wanted her many more times, but she's a busy person with other priorities, so they can't always say yes.

 

Also, one of the articles said that filming with Julie tends to be very long and expensive because she's a perfectionist. Given Aldo's cost cutting history, I think that's a lot more likely to be the reason than Celine saying she doesn't want to do an interview with Julie.

 

Incidentally, the 2007 Banquier is one of my favorite Celine shows ever, because she and Rene *both* are having so much fun - pure fun, not designed to promote aanything - just to make Julie happy and have fun with a game.

Wasn't there some story that Julie Snyder couldn't do interviews and her Le Banquier anymore because she was divorcing her husband?

 

I don't really know what the story was about, but it was some type of breach of contract or conflict or interest or something. Something to do with her husband being in politics.

That story went away because they got married again. Now they are not together again, so isn't she in the same boat all over again?

 

If that's not the case, then this is probably Aldo's doing. Aldo does things differently then Rene. Rene also must have known that Aldo did things a little different. That must have been one of the reason why Rene personally chose Aldo to take over when he was gone. He knew that Aldo could take Celine's career to a different place.

 

I don't think for one second that Julie and Celine's friendship was ever fake. Celine just knows that business is business and she has always been able to separate the two. If you were always afraid of hurting people and walking on egg shells, you would never grow, you would never learn and you would never be successful. Change is what keeps a career going, so her team are changing things up and getting out of there comfort zone of working with the same people all the time.

 

This doesn't mean That Celine and Julie are not still friends. Julie has said in the past that she talks to Celine on the phone all the time. We don't know what Celine does in her personal down time. Maybe her and Julie hang out all the time and are really close. Just because they seem to have cut ties business wise, doesn't mean that they cut off there friendship aswell. The two things can be separate.

ya ya, i don't want to hear it again, Celine is talking ok most of the times... she makes an effort in France with the accent , it's ok. In Québec , she goes more Québécois ans it's ok too. That Banquier program was something else . :giggle:

I had no idea Rene chose to be buried in his wedding suit. And the discussion of 3:20 gave it all even more meaning. It was such a lovely, moving, interview.

Condor I love you thank you!! Even though I did go to school to learn french it is still kinda hard for me at times so this is an absolute life saver! I do hope you can do the other interview as well too!!

Just because Celine isn't planning on doing movies in the near future does not mean she's going nowhere. Celine is a singer after all, so singing should be her main focus. I personally like that she is choosing to focus purely on her music at the moment.

 

The acting part might happen at some point, but if it doesn't, I really don't think it's a big deal. I am not really a fan of the whole crossover singer/actor thing. In my opinion that is reserved for people who don't really have a whole lot of musical talent, so they fall back on acting as a second talent. A few examples would be, Hilary Duff, and Selena Gomez. They fall back on there acting, which is there stronger talent of the two talents.

 

Celine is already an amazing singer and doesn't really need a fallback talent, because she's already so talented at one thing, that she doesn't really need to do the other.

 

We all know that Celine can really do anything she sets her mind to and she would probably make a good actress, but it's something she doesn't really need to do. It's kind of more like something she might try one day and I am all for it if she chooses to do film, but her choosing to stick with singing for now definitely isn't a road that is leading nowhere that's for sure. :)
