Celine really needs to liven the show up! New videos featuring Celine... Cool visuals.... And I know not everyone agrees but I want to see the return of dancers.... Not too many but it is Vegas after all!

 

Her outfits need to look More modern.... The outfits now seem as if they wear her....

 

I think the problem is... Her latest material is more upbeat and modern (TC/LMBTL/EUS) and this show does not show her album direction.... It's like it's two different worlds.... When In fact it should go hand in hand!

 

If her new English album is to be like EUS as Celine has said she wants it to be..... This show needs to dramatically change!

 

Yes everyone gives great reviews about the show but come on.... It's Celine Dion .... Doesn't mean it couldn't be so much better..

 

Always felt the new Vegas show was a step back from what she has done before.... And the direction she was going for before the twins... Her albums follow that direction.....This show certainly does not!

That show has been lacking a direction from the start, just the same way the album LMBTL did :giggle: It's all a mess of random songs put together, to entertain the same random audience every night.

 

They seem to cater for, and think, the lv audience want classic 90's celine. Nothing else. That the audience only know the songs from then, and haven't even heard of the OH/TC/LMBTL albums. That's probably why they introduce covers of songs they think most of the audience will know, cos they won't know other celine songs.

Maybe after the success of the summer tour even celine will realise it, how much she and the audience enjoyed those rarer songs, and she'll take a few chances. I know someone said Scott had said celine wasn't interested in her english songs etc, but I honestly believe if she listened to her albums she'd change her mind. She'd fall in love with certain songs again, and remember why she wanted to record them. The enthusiasm would be back.

 

The LV audience want a classic Celine, or is it Céline who insists in remaining classic there? :innocent:

Who knows. Even if she wants to be that way, she still has a lot more classic songs on her past albums which would freshen the show up no end! Someone needs to remind her 😂

Everytime someone on here meets her even for a few seconds, tell her how much you love a certain song. Maybe it'll get her remembering we love other songs too, and you never know it could get added! 😂

My heart will go on is slowly getting better. Last night was better then what is has been being. There was still a little rasp but it was much better!

In my opinion, they should "divide" the show in three parts: modern and upbeat (pop: ANDHC,LMBTL,EUS), classic and dramatic (the great ballads), and party (Songs like kiss, unison etc.) with good interludes and mindblowing visuals Edited by ryba

Ok someone on fb just said that she closed with TSMGO and SOTR was out. She changed into the silver pant/gown outfit for the song. So 4 changes for the show last night. At least there is some tinkering with the set going on. :giggle:

Look at her previous vegas show. Great stage (before it's bigger). Great Lighting. Stunning Visual (not like screensaver). Now, they should do this again and change the setlist.

exactly I don't feel that there's big production,its like a regular drag queen show in vegas

i think to really judge the show, you have to see it live. i prefer the french repertoire but i'm sure that the Vegas one must de fun to see. she have a big orchestra, this is so great, her last french show was much better because of that. Edited by québecflower

It IS possible to incorporate modern songs and sounds with an orchestra. For example, to this day, the song "Fade Away" still has a current and modern sound which could easily be heard on radio. With the right arrangement by Scott, the string section alone would be bombastic and blow everybody away. The crud that was created for this song during the "Taking Chances World Tour" was just a joke. A few other 'modern" songs in Celine's discography which could easily be given a great sound with the Vegas orchestra are:

  • "Somebody Loves Somebody"
  • "A cause"
  • "You And I"
  • "Eyes On Me" (added to the acoustic medley)
  • "L'étoile"

Wait so does this mean that she ended the main set with LCMM/RDMH? Changed into the blue dress for MHWGO left and changed again for TSMGO?? That seems like A LOT of wasted time.

Most of the visuals you posted were never used, or they had a very short life in the end, unfortunately. A New Day started with a 100% creative vision in the views of Franco Dragone, but near the completion of the show in 2007, it was far from what Franco Dragone envisaged.

 

Need to remind here that Céline's band demanded more prominence in the show because at the beggining they were completely hidden from view and they felt ignored, so Céline's management (call it Céline or René) proposed/demanded Dragone to leave her band a space on the stage so they had a visual presence. So most of the theatrical components of the performances were scrapped in favour of leaving a space for Céline's band on the stage.

 

In the end, the show was more of a traditional music concert with visuals presented in the great LED screen behind, than the theatrical concept that Franco had in his mind at the start of the show. I don't want to imply that there were disagreements between Céline/René and Franco but the show in 2007 was clearly different from the concepts that Franco had for it in 2003 (and that you can see in the 2003 program of the show btw :thumbsup2: ). For example, those beautiful giraffes that would walk around the stage were never used in the show.

 

Look at her previous vegas show. Great stage (before it's bigger). Great Lighting. Stunning Visual (not like screensaver). Now, they should do this again and change the setlist.

I do remember that there was talk of some disappointment by Dragone over the songs that HAD to be included, causing others to be cut.

 

Weren't the giraffes supposed to be included in the radio remix of "A New Day Has Come" that was never in the show? That's why they ended up in the "Incredible" video ;)
