Celine Dion and recent comparison with Adele

Well then, perhaps Celine needs a bit of an image overhaul.

I just don't think a "lifestyle brand" or whatever it is Aldo was going on about a while back is it. In fact, that's the complete opposite of IT.

That would be going in completely wrong direction - even worse than the whole perfume thing (which for me was a massive turn off; that's about the time I stopped following Celine because I felt it was a massive sell-out move. And it took me a good decade+ to get back into the fold, so... Please Aldo, no Celine-branded linens or potpourri or anything like that. Please.)

 

I don't think the perfume was a sell out move because she truly seemed to believe in the product.

It has nothing to do with the type of song.

It's about the person who sings it.

 

If an Adele would have sung 'Breakaway' on that tv show, the whole world would report about it, and the whole world got excited.

 

And it would be played everywhere.

 

If celine would have sung 'Hello' nobody would care, not 1 radio/tv station would play it, and it wouldn't get played in a club.

 

It annoys me that every fart that comes out of Adele is amazing, and that like really everybody likes her just because everybody likes her.

It has nothing to do with music or songs anymore.

Exactly, Adele is very over-rated. Her range is limited and she lacks power. on the physical side of it, she is neither sexy nor attractive. 100% agreed. Adele is just so average to me. But i guess she used her ordinary looks and voice to sing the praises of the underdog, so i guess that's why ppl buy her stuff.

Ummm...I am overweight lol so that point is moot. If it was taken out of context, I wasn't the only one. Be more careful with how you word things because the way it was written projected that the reason people would turn on her in addition to being all over the place was that she was overweight. And reading back, I'm not the only one who took your post this way.

The thing you said about Adele is true. That newbie should have paid respect to Celine and to add insult she said she can't wait to go to Vegas to see Britney (of all people) but failed to mention Celine (the Queen of Vegas, and who sang her song btw (rolling in the deep). She purposely tried to snub Celine. That's just wrong!

What i didnt like was what you said about Celine and Lara Fabian. That Celine was getting a taste of her own medicine. Lara Fabian and Celine are contemporaries but Adele is a newbie to the industry who needs to pay respect to Celine who paved the way and did the most amazing things in her career Adele can only dream about.

The quality of a voice is not only about range. She has a very nice tone, great colorful and resonating high notes and good control. I wish Celine had this kind of control when she sang L'Hymne A L'Amour: it would have been perfect. And there are studies that show how Adele's voice is soothing to people...

I like Adele, and I love her newest song. I think what she and Celine have in common is singing emotional love songs that touch people deeply and are also hugely popular. Given this, it's inevitable that there'd be some comparison. There are also lots of differences -- Adele's songs are more personal; she's more of the singer-songwriter type; her vocal style is more raw, gritty, a different effect. Celine, while also projecting a lot of emotion, is more of a performer, more focused on creating spectacular shows, and with a more impressive voice in terms of technical range and power.

 

They're both immensely talented, in different ways. Let's enjoy both.

Saying that Adele will be turned on BECAUSE she's overweight IS insulting. Which is exactly what your initial post stated. And comparing Celine's live version of l'Hymne" to Adele's studio version of a song is absurd

Just because you used a different adjective doesn't mean that your statement meant something different. Fat, overweight, whatever it was that you said...you were using the woman's physical appearance to make your point and talk her down. Whether she's famous or not, or whether or not you know her, it's a rude thing to do. Only once you were called out did you try and defend your statement and try to turn it around and twist your own words to try and make us think you meant something different. Your statement was very blunt and straight to whatever point you were trying to make. It was disgusting and if you don't see that using the way someone looks to try and prove a point is wrong, then there's unfortunately no getting through to you. Actually no...but thank you for psycho-analyzing me without charging a co-pay. I only became overweight over the past couple of years, and I've never been bullied for it. Nor have I made anyone else feel inadequate for being overweight. I've never used someone's physical appearance as a means of proving a point that would negatively reflect on the way they look. That is rude, insensitive and disgusting.

 

You didn't ONLY say that Adele was overweight...I will quote you again...

This came off as you using her body as a reason for her career to go downhill. There was no assumption. Your statement was very blunt. How else is one supposed to take that statement?
