Celine Dion and recent comparison with Adele

I don't think comparison is necessary for both artists...To put things into perspective...CELINE is already a legend while Adele is a legend in the making...I always say this that Adele is actually enjoying Celine's success from way back then. The reason why critics do usually compared Celine and Adele is because of the impact Adele had on her second album 21...so did happen with Celine's third English album Falling Into You...it was huge I even remembered Billboard used to describe that the album sold every second. I respected Adele with her success because she truly deserves it, one of the reason why she is selling as well is because the generation of today found music to be of less quality until Adele came and save the whole industry! Her success is really spectacular but Celine is already a Legend...no need to be compared with any artist because she doesn't need to prove to the music industry anymore...she had been in the top and she stayed there for quite a bit!

 

And as she said "I don't need to prove to the music business anymore because I've done that. Now am at the peak of my life and I am slowly climbing down one step at a time." What I love most about Celine is that after all these years, she stays grounded!

 

Lastly, French Celine is far more great compared to the English Celine....the emotion she put into her French songs are real!

Adele isn't successful because of her songs, no, that's not THAT. If Celine had recorded them, they (nor the albums) wouldn't have had such a big success as Adele has had. Celine could sing them, could make them even bigger but that wouldn't change the fact that her name is Celine Dion. Adele just has a cool factor which Celine doesn't...

Adele is 27 years old whereas Celine is 47 years old. That's why Adele's songs get airplay and Celine's songs don't.

That's a really wretched thing to say. Not to mention totally false...She's actually thinner than she was during the "21" era and her weight is almost NEVER mentioned. You also have women like Kelly Clarkson who gained through per pregnancy and had one of the most successful albums of 2014, all while putting critics to shame as she showed herself to be comfortable with who she is. Melissa McCarthy who is constantly being praised for calling out fat shamers and also Amy Schumer who is always promoting being comfortable in your own skin. As someone said, Beyonce is still successful (whatever some other poster here might say). Celine/Mariah have been successful for a long time. Celine was top Twitter trend recently. If she releases an album, I'm sure it will still be top1 in the world at some point.

 

And Adele is playing it really well too, much better than Celine did. She's taking her time, her last album was 4 years ago: she will not get on the nerves of people that easily. Plus Adele is a 'cool' person. She sings sad/cheesy songs, but she's not overly cheesy when she speaks, which makes 'being a fan of Adele' less shameful than being a 'fan of Celine' actually.

If you read my post again you may see that I do not call Celine fake per se. I said in some moments or with some aspects of her career she seems fake to me. Portraying a certain image that will sell more albums. J

 

This is the case with every recording artist that has signed a contract with a major label.

 

From Celine's fixed teeth to Adele's fake eyelashes it's all about passing a certain image that will make the artist appeal to the masses.

The industry didn't turn on Celine because of rumors of anorexia. If that was true, she would have been finished a long time ago. She stopped charting singles because the industry changed, as did the format of music on the radio. Also, just like her contemporaries, was forced off the radio due to ageism. Now that is a real thing. Adele won't be shunned because of her weight, and you bringing it up just kind of made it seem that you (at least a little bit) think that would be the case.

In one week, she became album of the year in the US crushing Taylor Swift's whole 2015 sales. 1 million of albums sold in the second week: that's huge!!

Adele's new album sold more than it would normally have because she prohibited any digital streams, samples or whole songs of any of the songs, thereby forcing people to buy the album.
