I wonder if anything on the album will change following René's death, such as the album cover or title?

 

How would people here feel about having a picture of Celine & Rene as the front cover? Or maybe on the back of the CD...

I was wondering if she will write something special for Rene inside the booklet of the CD, she always likes to write a message in those and especially that she professed her love for Rene to the world doing that.

I am positive Celine will write something about Rene in the liner notes of both, her French and English album and all her albums to come in the future. Remembering all the important people that touched Celine's life has always been very important to her. Celine never forgets to thank those who have made a lasting impression on her life and she never leaves out those know longer on earth.

 

This will now sadly include Rene and Daniel. These next two albums will be very hard for Celine to complete and put out there and I know that her words to Rene and her brother Daniel will be very emotional, touching and from her heart.

I was just thinking about something. This new French album will be the first release after the tragic loss of René. All the media will be more focused on Céline next few months. Maybe there will be a bigger interest in this new album in United States than in previous French albums. And not only in US but also in other non-francophone countries.

True. But we had previously the statement, that the album is ready + the lady from France Bleu Radio who said that the single sounds amazing - so she heard it. in any case we are going to hear it. I just wonder when.

Something tells me we're not going to be hearing anything about the album until after she gets back on stage at Caesar's. Plus at this point it's pretty much anyone's guess as to what will happen and when things will get released etc.

That's what my gut tells me. It'll be out by the time the tour comes around but my gut tells me it's probably delayed...

I just hope Aldo works with Sony to get this properly released outside of French-speaking countries. There's bound to be a lot of interest, and truthfully, one doesn't need to understand the lyrics to 'get' Celine in French. Yes, of course, her French songs have always been more lyrically substantive than the English ones - it's understandable she's more attune to the nuances of her native language than one she started learning at ~18. But the emotion is there regardless.

 

And I think it would be a massive mistake to ignore the US market.

 

Wiki tells me French is the 2nd most studied and 4th most-spoken foreign language in the US & 10+ million people claimed French ancestry in the last census. That's a meaningful market Sony! Don't ignore it!

 

It saddens me that fabulous albums like Sans Attendre, D'Elles, etc. are so hard to get in the US. I'm not asking for wall-to-wall promo and marketing spend on Sony's part - but at least make them available! There are definitely takers out there and Sony is making it so hard... even D'Eux, the best-selling French album of all time! And you still have to make such an effort; you really have to know what you're looking for and actively look for it. Sony ain't making it easy...

 

Why not put her French music on Spotify, Amazon Music, Google Play... if Sony doesn't expect people in the US to buy it anyway, then at lease let them discover it via a streaming service. It's really a shame that so much of Celine's best work is so difficult to get here in the US. I think it would be such a revelation for many who are only familiar with her English material.

I dont think so. The following album of A. Bocelli, Romanza sold like 20.000.000. It is the best selling italian album, so it is also a non-english album that sold twice as D'eux.

Yes but as you said, it is a compilation, a sort of best-of compiling songs previously released. We can probably say that D'eux is the best selling non-compilation non-English album of all time.

Somehow and thinking with a bit of a backseat, pushing back the album a little bit does not sound unreasonable.

 

Releasing it now may be found by the media and the public as too soon (as jumping into the marketing waggon instead of the usual grievance period - even though we, fans, know this is not the case). And at the same time Celine might not be ready to promote the album.

 

Releasing the album a couple of months later but still before the concerts in Europe may be a good idea: the press and the public will be waiting for her comeback with fresh memories and she might then have the strength to sing live the new Jean Jacques Goldman song.
