I always found a lot of her French album here in the states , like a FYI stores

Oh Mariah is a non-factor. Her doing well or not is not criteria to say whether Celine did well or not.

 

Regarding the chart success of LMBTL I still consider it a decent seller (not amazing as you do), but I'll also say that it IS amazing that Celine managed to sell an average amount of copies given the fact she in her 40s and almost banned from mainstream radios.

Well, she's frequently compared to Mariah in pretty much everything.

 

It is pretty decent for an English release. But in this day in age, that's alot. It's sold more than Miley Cyrus's Bangerz, Ariana's albums, Jessie J'attendais album, and plenty of other younger singers like Neyo and Imagine Dragons. It also sold around the same as Lady Gaga's ARTPOP.

 

For Celine, that is terrific sales, especially compared to so-called mainstream artists. She could've done far better though if she has the chance to keep going with it.

Truthfully, my one real wish for this album - whatever the music turns out to be - is that they release it in the US. And other non-Francophone markets. Acknowledge that Celine has a loyal, caring fanbase for the French material outside of Quebec, France and Belgium. It makes me so sad that the rest of the world never really got to know Sans Attendre, d'Elles, etc. All such great work, yet Sony insists on pretending it doesn't exist beyond a handful of borders. Like somebody said in another thread - it's like the her French career is taboo outside these few markets. Why not embrace it, celebrate it, and acknowledge that she's even more of a legend in French than she is in English? I just don't get why they don't leverage that. Boggles the mind.

 

I didnt know they were any problems releasing Celines french albums worldwide, I mean even in my small country I never had any problem to purchase them straight away after release, Im surprised its a problem in some countries

Most people in the US do not think about her Francophone career or discuss it (and the average person has no clue she was basically a child star. They know she started young, but do not really get the level of success she had so quickly).

 

It's really too bad. Her Francophone career is legendary. I wish the US took more notice of it.

 

In the beginning of having both careers, the choice was deliberate. It gave her more freedom to start in the English market. No images were really associated with her. A blank slate. Who knows why it continued. I am sure it was thought out. But I still wish her French albums were easier to get here (iTunes has almost nothing).

it's this one night performance that makes it special, recording it might ruin the whole thing. Look at How Do You Keep The Music Playing, it's also lost its charm on the album as it was the duet that made it special.

Yeah I do know what you mean. It always seemed to me that Rene was a bit scared of Celine trying something new and moving with the times. Almost "if it's not broke" type of situation.

And I think we all agree that when they halted the album to change direction (partially!), then they should have gone the whole hog and released the lv concept first, then continued recording to make the entire LMBTL album like the first half.

 

I have high hopes with Aldo, and Celine, with the next 2 albums. I think Celine is beginning to realise that we don't expect perfect live vocals night after night, that she can have fun, that she is still relevant within the music industry, that she can have great ideas, that she can write her own songs. ETC! We just want her! With the woman she is, her talent and ability always shines through.

Think she's finally realising and believing the fact that we stand right by her.

One final thing hoping Aldo listens to celine and her ideas. Just thinking about Celine wanting to open with MHWGO and Rene saying no.

I can't even imagine a top notch artist of Celine's caliber being told by their manager what song to sing first and what to sing last. That should be between Celine and her musical director, not her manager. I could never understand Rene out stepping his boundaries into the artistic presentation of her shows. It's just strange to me that a manager has this kind of input. Can you imagine Madonna's or Adele's manager shutting down their artistic ideas. I don't think so!

I don't think it would be bad to have L'hyme à l'amour on the new French album. Céline sang it before and she can still sing it in the future (and not necessarily because of the Paris tragedy). It could be about René as well...

A documentary called "Celine face à Dion" will air on French TV "France 3", evening of December 21, 2015. It will be 1,5 hours long and will feature interview of Celine and reports about her career in French and International ! Stay tuned !!!

LBTL would have been a much bigger success in the UK, she was very little time for her, maybe if it obtained a single in the top 5 for her, I think she would get easy, plus promo for it was very little, maybe because of his concerts in France.

That's she's an open book and she married a much older man and she comes from a big family and that she is French Canadian, not American! Sorry, I couldn't help myself!

I wish she would release it as a charity single, separate from the new album, to donate proceeds to victims' families, as others have suggested. It was a beautiful and moving tribute but I understand the sensitivity to milking something from a tragedy.

yes , on 1 hour 30 minutes , we should have at least one or two minutes of new stuff...but those minutes are precious, rarity means quality .
