comingback Posted August 8, 2016 at 06:59 PM Posted August 8, 2016 at 06:59 PM How can it be a rumour? If it was true, I think there would be the ad out there... It's simply amazing ( and funny) how french speaking people and non french speaking people perceive her french works. "1F4T" and "D'elles" were conceptual, whether you like it or not. Especially the latter. The first is considered as a concept , not because of the lyrics, but for its "unplugged" sound and the way it was created, most of it was like "home made" , there were few people involved in this project. Mostly 5 people did everything. I still think "D'elles" was a great project (or could have been) , a very introspective one with a good idea from the start ( to gather a bunch of only female non writers, that's quite special) , with lyrics Céline can relate to. But what works on paper came out mostly bland musically beside few songs. I can understand Céline when she says she loves those 2 albums though. Despite the fact that all her french albums have a specific tone, I see them as a "whole". What one of them lacks, another one has and the other way around. SSDA , for example, is beautiful but it came out of nowhere. There's no background and as a whole, it's not genuine at all. First, I'm not quite sure this album would have existed if it wasn't for "D'eux" success. Then, lyrically , it goes nowhere. There's no link between the songs, that's not biographic at all. Céline singing "Zora sourit"...? Ok...? Nobody has figured it out what "Papillon" and "L'abandon" is about yet...( first you have to understand what she sings in the last one... is Mylène Farmer singing?). "Sur le même bâteau" doesn't serve any purpose and even JJG didn't want to give her that song..."En attendant ses pas"...what a cute and lovely song but singing " While waiting for you, I paint flowers on the doors"...you can't sing that in french! hahahaIt looks like I'm bashing this album but I like it very much, don't get me wrong. But beside the highlights of it, I don't think Céline likes it more than another one. I've never heard saying a thing about it. They are beautiful songs but that's it. While she's moved with "D'elles" and is fond of "1F4T". All this to say that I simply can't put her french works on a scale. Well, Papillion is about a love, that set her free like a butterfly.L'abandon is about relaxation and enjoyment in life.Zora sourit is about a islamic girl in France, who must cope with the foreign/french culture (France/Quebec situation as immigration countries).and While waiting for his arms I draw flowers on doors (is a metapher that her lover is welcome anytime) Quote
Moleque20 Posted August 8, 2016 at 07:13 PM Posted August 8, 2016 at 07:13 PM SISDA is a masterpiece. It may not have a deeper background like Delles/SA, with songs about motherhood, the female nature, dead fathers, ode to mothers, or lullabies but it is an amazing album. It was released in the middle of the Titanic-MHWGO-era, but somehow JJG protected her and her voice and they delivered a gem to us. 7 Quote Les étoiles tombent une à une. Mes émois sont de saturne.

Critiaslux Posted August 8, 2016 at 10:09 PM Posted August 8, 2016 at 10:09 PM ALPHB is the last song of the Standard Edition of the album. Its ending phrase is ''Dis au Bon Dieu que c'est dimanche, et qu'il peut venir te chercher...'' which brings me back to her very first album (and first song on it) ''La Voix Du Bon Dieu'', not only because both songs mention the ''good god'', but also because of the reference to the word ''dimanche''. It was part of the chorus in the song ''Les Roses Blanches'' which went like ''c'est aujourd'hui dimanche...''. All this gives me the impression of a full circle! La Voix Du Bon Dieu is the first album that marks the beginning of the collaboration of Celine and Rene, while Encore Un Soir is the one that marks the end of it. Very well thought actually. I do not know if we outthink this but Celine and Rene being very superstitious, why not ! 😄😉 1 Quote

Ordinaire it's... ok. A La Plus Haute Branche it's terrible. Reallllly bad... What about the others? Nothing until now. Also, I really miss some Elodie Hesme and David Gategno songs.... To me it sounds a little different then the one in the voting round... 1 Quote I didn't know love until they loved me back to life because somebody loves somebody!Le temps qui compte pour Celine est maintenant!
LukeD Posted August 9, 2016 at 08:08 AM Posted August 9, 2016 at 08:08 AM (edited) No other French album has explored love and human nature the way SSDA did. The coherence of it, both musically and lyrically, is clear to me. And D'elles is a masterpiece. Especially from a lyrical standpoint. Too many beautiful songs which Celine interpreted in the most bland, rushed way. Edited August 9, 2016 at 08:12 AM by LukeD 2 Quote
Javito Posted August 9, 2016 at 09:26 AM Posted August 9, 2016 at 09:26 AM 1F&4T it's her best album. Love the songs, love the cover. I particularly love the alternate cover with Céline only...Céline and her ponytail That's the one I use for my copie. They were even creative designing this album booket allowing fans to choose between 2 covers, and depending on which side you open it, the booklet starts with pictures of Vegas or Paris 2 Quote "Hush, now... ehild Posted August 9, 2016 at 11:25 AM Author Posted August 9, 2016 at 11:25 AM It would appear Best Buy and Barnes and Noble may be carrying all versions of this. However they list it as available September 2. Not sure if it's because it would be an import but still pretty cool! https://www.google.com/search?q=encore+un+soir+deluxe+edition+cd&client=ms-android-hms-tmobile-us&sa=X&biw=360&bih=560&noj=1&tbs=vw:l&tbm=shop&srpd=4190463266853062491&prds=cdl:1,cid:7889382434283483303,num:10,paur:ClkAsKraX2gyQHssBb4xC7ebTA-r50dJInXhLLylcVPj_Mxy8hf0GCPdQvJ_9flRi9SXlE_HKk_HFSP_2p3U_xtntcWuRtQ5K6acXDju9j3xVn4AfJKZ3a9MrBIZAFPVH70nAZnmz9U_DcpalVegKZgoWcnmhA,sgro:oo&ved=0ahUKEwjCtoy8m7TOAhWBmx4KHU1zCQUQ2SsIEQ 2 Quote ~Liz"Please don't make your career your life. Leo Posted August 9, 2016 at 04:10 PM Posted August 9, 2016 at 04:10 PM "Sur le même bateau" sounds like the chorus of JJG's "Fermer les yeux" released in 1994. I never understood what those funny noises and ad-libs Celine does throughout "L'abandon" mean. I think they kind of spoil the softness and sensuality of the song. Whatever Celine sings, I think people should be able to relate to the song so that it means something to them. Who can relate to "La Diva" or "Je ne suis pas celle" or "Des mots qui sonnent" or "Destin"? Very good songs though. Going back to the thread, everybody can relate to "Encore un soir". Quote
