Claudette Posted September 29, 2009 at 10:52 PM Posted September 29, 2009 at 10:52 PM I didn't even know that exists that! Special Celine's singing on Ellen's Show LOL! Thanks for the link! I've never seen it before. They obviously recorded it the same day she did ''Taking Chances'' and ''Because You Loved Me'' on the show. http://i993.photobucket.com/albums/af51/ClaudetteRobinson/esme.jpg

Right now I'm doing video with high notes from Fade Away but I'll do also high notes from RDMH. I agree, she sings better RDMH at nowdays. She is more connected with audience on that song than in 90's I think. And vocally, her current tone is better for the song than that one from 90's.

The Montreal one had the word Valentines in the description so type that in for your search. In Houston, her voice cracked, and I also recall another performance where her voice cracked, but can't remember. She also did it in Kansas City at the Sprint Center, but it wasn't as amazing as Malaysia or Valentine's Day.

And she doesn't sing them live in the show. I understand that she needs to protect her voice but I'd like to here it live again just one time to show to all the haters that she's still the best! I get your point and, yes, she hits all the notes; however, she doesn't hold them out nearly as long as "the recording". The only thing that comes to my mind, being a professional singer myself, is that because she can't hold the notes out as long as she used to be able to do (and you know, she's 40 and they're high notes that are being held; it's understandable), she lip-synchs them so that the casual fans aren't disappointed. Those of us who have been her fans for 19 years or more (such as myself) would much rather hear her sing live and sing the song a bit differently than the recording. However, those casual fans who paid their money would rather just hear it sound like the recording. Silly, I know.
Tyler1991 Posted October 5, 2009 at 07:46 PM Posted October 5, 2009 at 07:46 PM I disagree. The only note in that rehersal video she didn't hold out as long as normal was a note that is normally 2 seconds long, and she did it 1 second. Big deal. Not to mention that it is a rehersal and she isn't going to put 100% into it, as she would a normal performance. Additionally, look at the rehersals from before the tour starts. She held the TLYM ending note in identical form to the Vegas playback. 19 seconds, only one breath. Even the Rosie O'Donnel (1997) live performance was 17 seconds and had two breaths. Not to mention that in Vegas at the end of her run she always held the I Surrender ending note between 12-17 seconds (usually about 15). Although I do find it interesting that while rehersing RDMH she was lip syncing with no vocals. LOL. I do remember hearing someone say that for the first part of the tour, RDMH was lipped to the same playback that was used in Vegas. At least it was live for MOST of the tour, including the DVD tapings.

However, those casual fans who paid their money would rather just hear it sound like the recording. Silly, I know. I disagree with you too. She IS ABLE to hold high notes for a long time, like ABM big note but she must do her very best in order to it. It's demanding for her but she can do it. For example, she lipped ABM throughout whole tour but she prooved she can sing it on the first concert. If she did her best she could hold TPOL note. Maybe even she could sing whole IDAN and TLYM. Tyler, I have a bootleg from Vegas where she's holding wnding IS note for 18 seconds but if we counted whole "I surrender to you baaybyyyyyyyyyyyy", not only"yyyyyyyyyyyy" it would be 20 seconds. So sustained voice for 20 seconds in voal run, it's amazing for 39 years old woman (it was 2007). And she can belt powerful G5-A5 which she did on tour. My video with high notes from It's A Man's World prooves it. But that's right, we would like to hear hard songs live, even little bit worse than CD, but normal fans expect from her perfect and flawless vocals.
Claudette Posted October 5, 2009 at 09:12 PM Posted October 5, 2009 at 09:12 PM (edited) I doubt that TLYM was live in that video. Why would she sing that song live but lip RDMH. Plus TLYM sounds exactly like the playback version. Celine never seriously sings a song during rehearsals/soundchecks. RDMH was live and that's why she doesn't really sing it in that video. You can see she is just joking around. RDMH is also a very demanding song so it does make sense to not actually ''really'' sing it during rehearsals...Another thing: that is a dress rehearsal, so it would make sense to make sure that all the playback songs are good to go and everything is working. couldawouldashoulda: I highly doubt that Celine lips songs because her voice is not as good as it used to be. Celine has been lipping TPOL and TLYM since forever. I'm pretty sure Celine can hit a note just as good as in the 90's if she wants to. In my opinion, she is sometimes even better than in the 90's... OK I was wrong TLYM was live in that video. Whish we could see the whole rehearsal. But I bet she was just playing around with all the songs... Scramasboy Posted October 5, 2009 at 10:54 PM Posted October 5, 2009 at 10:54 PM I think she wants the average person fan favorites to be absolutely spot on each time, and they are, the way she was doing it anyway. The "average person fan" wants to hear the big-arse powerful TPOL endnote! The average person fan wants to hear Celine do the TLYM ending full in one breath, etc. And I get that, I mean she could take her lipped songs out and we would have a concert the size of Mariah's [this isn't me hating on Mariah fans just fyi, or M herself] and it would be all live and we would be none the wiser, or whatever, but I think she just wants everyone to be pleased and I didn't mind sitting and listening to those songs while WATCHING HER THERE IN FRONT OF ME *excited moment* because if she didn't do them, then I'd be like *whatever* but I was happy to have that extra time to just look at her. Those songs are like icing on the cake for me, because she could have easily just had a 17 or 18 song set and I still would have paid good money to see her. http://68.media.tumblr.com/0215da4dacb45f3375c9bf63cb89e9c3/tumblr_o3edqjdnpP1s2lrfeo1_1280.png
