Too few know about her rendition of the song..for me it's the best one. I wish she had done the *full* version, since her voice was in such awesome shape that day. 1 Quote

PuraVida Posted February 10, 2021 at 03:10 PM Posted February 10, 2021 at 03:10 PM This song reminds me of some of the more laid back songs on Courage. Why do I hear a country vibe to it? Anyone else? 2 Quote

I know the album, "One Heart," gets mocked a lot, but I find it to be one of Celine's more pleasant albums. The only change I would have made to it is including "All Because Of You" instead of "Have You Ever Been In Love." 1 Quote

This would be one of my favorite songs from her if they removed whatever instrumentation they used to make it sound country. I think it'd sound perfect without it. I came to the album because I was thinking what kind of songs Celine could use that would fit the vibe/freshness/bass/dancing she displayed in her Jamaica Jazz Fest performance of Treat Her Like A Lady....like what songs could be built around that to stay on that vibe. The only change I would have made to it is including "All Because Of You" instead of "Have You Ever Been In Love." I've always loved One Heart - it's just a fun, enjoyable album that has some great material and doesn't try too hard - there's a very appealing ease about the whole thing. In His Touch and I Know What Love Is are two of Céline's strongest ballads (and I know that's saying something!), and both Naked and Reveal should have got more exposure - either one would have been a stronger single than Stand By Your Side, which is a song I really like but was way too predictable and easy to write off as a single. Adding All Because Of You would have been a good move - one of the first things I did was remove Have You Ever Been In Love from my copy of the album (at least in terms of how I ripped it to digital); as far as I'm concerned the song doesn't belong anywhere but on A New Day Has Come (and it's one of my least favorite tracks there, too). 2 Quote

You think “Faith” sounds country? I think it actually has a 90s Phil Collins sound to it. Not entirely, but there's an element there, some instrument/instrumentation I can't place or something I don't have the musical vocab to name exactly. Banjo? How some of the guitar sounds are done? Maybe it's just the general pace of the song too. Like I said, can't put my finger on it. Quote

Is it the electric guitar that just sounds like the notes are being played by sliding the strings instead of plucking them? PuraVida Posted February 12, 2021 at 07:44 AM Posted February 12, 2021 at 07:44 AM (edited) Is it the electric guitar that just sounds like the notes are being played by sliding the strings instead of plucking them? Like I said, my music vocab isn't very precise--I don't play instruments, but that could be! Also, the acoustic guitar being played--then with strings come in over at 0:33. Not sure what string instrument they used, but strings over guitar reads very country in my mind. Then at 0:35 the way Celine sings "WANT you near" with the quick slip into a more falsetto/head voice sounds, with a bit of twang. She does that effect throughout the song. That seems more country. And at 1:29 the instrumentation that kicks in there, and at 3:28 the sound effect used reads kind of country to me. Edited February 12, 2021 at 07:45 AM by PuraVida Quote

I Drove All Night! Posted February 12, 2021 at 02:44 PM Posted February 12, 2021 at 02:44 PM What's with the weird reverb on this lipped performance? It seems to cut in and out throughout the song. I can't imagine it was intentional... right? Quote
I Drove All Night! Posted February 12, 2021 at 02:52 PM Posted February 12, 2021 at 02:52 PM Oh no... the performance above led me to this cringey "performance".... Do you ever wonder what the discussion between Céline and René was like after a performance like this? "Yeah, you don't have to tell me what I did wrong there. I'm just going to erase that from my memory." 1 Quote

Her microphone was not turned off as it should have been and it has been aired with the sound of her microphone on underneath the studio track. 1 Quote

smw Posted February 13, 2021 at 09:37 PM Posted February 13, 2021 at 09:37 PM Since Celine is on a break, I'm enjoying so many other artists who I love. How amazing that Celine got to record a song with the Bee Gees. For a lot of music lovers, that's the coolest thing Celine Dion's ever done. And it's such a beautiful, timeless song. Rene and Celine were so wise to have her record with some of the greats... like Anne Murray, Barbra Streisand, the Bee Gees, Pavarotti, Bocelli, etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gms2njBw8Xw 1 Quote
