And while Celine sounds good (I don't think she's opera that's why I say good not great) in this song... It's not my favorite. I so get what you mean by that she doesn't mend like with/when she sings with Bocelli. Pavarotti is amazing, and so is Celine... But it doesn't mean they'll sound stellar amazing together. He's a deep rich opera singer, and she's a high/full suprano poppier (I say this kinda ish-y cause she ain't pop like "today's" pop if you know what I mean) so he's trying to sing opera, and she's trying to, but with Bocelli its kinda opera, but it's not so rich... They just mend and mingle cause they complement each other. I hope everyone gets where I'm trying to go/get with this Weird because reading all those reviews about Céline/Pavarotti duet makes me think you all think Céline is out of her place. "I hate you then I love you" is originally a famous italian pop song, that's not opera. Céline's vocals are superb and she's not trying to sing opera. On the other hand, Luciano sings it in an opera way which is not relevant at all and only shows his talent was limited to opera ( unlike Bocelli) To me, Pavarotti's singing is quite ridiculous in this song and not convincing at all. The teview quote is biased because the journalist assumed that opera is better than pop and Céline sounds "weak"... but in that song, tha's Luciano trying to sing pop, not Céline trying to sing opera! As some people pointed out there, it could have included so much more and been so much longer! The hardest thing I found about making the video was selecting a variety of clips that wouldn't result in a video that lasted for several days. Anyway, I decided to make a second video in an attempt to compensate for whatever was lacking in the first. You are probably all very familiar with most/all of the performances, but if you'd like to watch, here is the link. That was an amazing one, too -- but the '97 one is the full song (Home for the Holidays cut the 2nd verse), and the '97 one was also done in a higher key, which (to me) just sounds especially stunning. I was 14 but remember it like it was yesterday. I was so excited to see Céline headlining such an event. And of course her vocals were amazing on the night. I chose this clip because I suspected there would be fans who hadn't seen it and when I decided to use the song it was the first performance that came to mine! I thought most of us here would have seen the majority of videos by now but each time I read this thread I discover something new! So I hope the compilations reveal gems to other fans too. For example, I've only recently rediscovered the Kodak theatre concert and can't believe how amazing she sounds. And as for the At Last performance - her voice is like crystal! I love it! But had never seen it before and have no idea where it is from! I suppose she has done it all now but I'd love to have her back here in the UK headlining a show like the royal variety again. imagine she did Glastonbury!
