Anyone know where I can watch the video of celine backstage I the 90's where she lost her voice and couldn't continue with the show, and you can hear the audience singing for her? I've only ever watched it once. She's spoken a few times about how "that night they sang for me."

 

There are clips at 5:50 and 7:05 on this video. In between, she talks about how, when she left the stage unable to sing and very upset, Rene told her there were two choices -- they could stop the show, or she could tell the audience what was going on and that she needed their help. Being presented with two choices, it seemed like a less serious/upsetting situation. And she was so impressed/touched with how the French audience knew all the words to all the songs, especially considering she had not had a career there like she'd had in Quebec, where she grew up with them.

Still love this performance, though, because of the vocals -- I remember when this happened in 1997 -- I taped the whole show on the VCR (back in the day) and fast forwarded just to find the Celine parts. Watched this song over and over and over again.

The trumpet was supposed to be metaphorically mimicking the male part of the duet, and in 1996/97, if you hadn't heard this song...you were living under a rock. But listening to the words, I could totally get what the female was saying even without the male part being sung. They're all honestly common things that a girl says to her man in a relationship.

That's not the clip I am thinking of. My one is you see her sitting just off stage and you can hear the audience singing. Thanks for posting this though, was nice to watch it.

i will never understand team celine lol

they never released the dvd, even saying at some point that they would release both for us to see the evolution of the concert ..

i believe that because this trailer came out in 2004 ( when she had her regular hair back) the still photo has the long brown hair

From what i know she did some concerts in Jan.1998 in Melbourne with a set list and costumes similar to the Falling Into You Tour, but also including The reason and My heart will go on

sb: coming back to your music, you already said that the album D'eux was the album of your life, could you chose one song that you would put in a box, so that the future generations can discover you? Wich one would it be, if you had to chose one or two on this album.. I' kind , i say two to you..

 

cd: very nice of you...sure that i like them all, i've chose and recorded them, but :JE SAIS PAS , you know when it is said in the song ...détourner des rivières, narguer des lois, je suis pas victime, je suis pas colombe, pour qu'on m'abime, faut que je tombe, je sais prendre un coup, le rendre aussi, river des clous, ça j'ai appris and all over the song , it is said, i can do it all, but life without you, i don't know (part of the song) for me that song, it is really me, i can do a lot of things, i'm really strong, All of it because of all the people around me, giving me the strenght to help me stand up again. But without them, this person, i could not do that. i'm lucky to have René in my life, he is the one who gave me the backgroung for all those songs i sing. All those around me, my family, some friends and René have filled me with a lot of things, and everything that comes from me when i sing, it's coming from them also, i learned from them. I took the best from every one. Who i am today, it's them...

Thank you for the translation! She is so sweet and sincere! It's one of the most touching things about Celine -- how connected she is to the people she loves . . . and it even gives an extra meaning to the phrase "D'Eux" -- her belief that all that she is comes from them [the people she loves]

I don't remember it well, but it was from the deux tour and she was so emotional during the song, and cried at the end if im not wrong people were singing for her, i think the footage was given to something 'telethon style', it was on youtube at some point but i can not find it anymore anywhere

It was supposed to be released together with the one we have, so we could see the evolution of the concert.. i remember this well.. but it never happened, i think the only ones who saw were the fans who attended a concert that she cancelled last minute and they put this dvd on the big screen instead =/ unfortunately we have only 2 or 3 pictures of it =/ Maybe one day.. who knows.. I really hope so

They interviewed so many people you hear mentioned, but almost never hear interviewed directly -- Manon & Liette, Guy & Dodo (they're mentioned in her biography as friends in France who owned a restaurant where they spent a lot of time early in her career); Eddy Marnay talking in English (never heard that before!); David Foster talking about Dreams to Dream (he said Celine's version was spectacular! David - share it with the world!!)
