The only article I've ever seen that said he was fired was from "La presse." Isn't that a French tabloid?? Everything else says he "stepped down." Vito says he made the decision to leave after 23 years with them. That would have been in 2003 as he joined Sony in 1980. I think he gave himself a 5 year plan when he made his decision and then left in 2008. Otherwise the math is all wrong.

 

Seems like he started with Celine in 1985 since he says it took her 5 years to enter the American market. And then 1985 + 23 = 2008.

In the second one, she said she still uses an old walkman. Celine, iPods are so much better. Trust us. Let RC show you how to use one, and you'll love it! :)

Yeah I was like, hey never saw this one, lol! I swear I heard something like that also?? (the museum reference)

We know she uses the Walkman but do you think this has just become part of her image, you know, the 'I can't use technology' line? I think she is more plugged in then we think. :)

Also, I think she really did want and have a vision for a LMBTL video because of the way she talks about what she sees at the beginning of the song.... :mellow: :down: :cry: :unsure: :huh: :teary: :teary:

I always tell my staff in my office I can't use technology and don't use FB, etc. I just say that cos I don't want them to look for me and add me and I don't want to be their tech support. People lie all the time for different reasons.

I think for sure she exaggerates some things, like her un-plugged-in-ness -- but she was using a Walkman in the behind-the-scenes from Celine: Une Seule Fois last summer.

Celine wasn't signed to CBS/Sony until 1986 though, and Incognito was her first album with them, released in 1987. Either way, even off by a year or two, I don't think he was fired.

Vito Luprano was laid off by Sony in 2008, so it wasn't really a "choice." http://www.celinedio...d-vito-luprano/

 

But I guess they did it at that time because there wasn't immediate work for him with Celine's albums completed.

 

Besides some "issues" between him and Sony, I think I also read during that time there was something between him and René. And Vito also sounded kinda bitter in a (written) interview from that period. He actually agreed to do an interview for the Dutch fanclub. Bu it was also around that time and suddenly I heard not nothing from him. I had a feeling he didn't want to have anything to do with Céline & Sony anymore..

Here's a nice video showing Celine's history on the Adult Contemporary charts. I never realized quite how many of her songs hit this chart --- like, If There Was Any Other Way made it to #8?? Who knew? I've NEVER heard it on the radio.

 

Also, I'm pretty sure this is from LuisMa's YouTube channel. Still miss him!

I really love this performance of "Immortality".

 

I love how the Bee Gees introduce Celine, "Now we come to a magical moment... Our guest star Miss Celine Dion".

I love it for its simplicity, and the song is beautifully performed !

This is an awesome video, for a few reasons: Julie Snyder attempting to interview Eric Burrows in English is hilarious.

 

We don't see Suzanne often, but she seems adorable and a perfect companion for Celine. She told a funny story about them being so used to traveling alone that the first time they had a bodyguard with them, they left and forgot the bodyguard ("Whoops! We forgot the bodyguard.").

 

Did anyone understand what Patrick said? It sounded like Julie asked him what was most stressful about the tour, and I thought he said something about Rene in the answer, but it would be odd for him to call his father Rene.

 

Manon's gestures and manner of speaking are sooo much like Celine's here.

 

And of course this has the clip of Celine and Bryan singing Everything I do. . . I read somewhere that Rene was so impressed by Julie's chutzpah in secretly recording the performance and pushing Bryan's management to release it that he started working more with her.

Does anyone know if there is a full version of the Lete Indien episode with Celine on youtube? I can't find a full length version anywhere. Also, Does anyone have the video of Celine with Rene in the parking lot with Celine showing Rene her wet suit?

Thank you for sharing this, never seen that particular performance with Bryan.

 

I would love Celine & Bryan to do an album together, just like the collaborations between Barbra Streisand & Barry Gibb, and also Alison Krauss & Robert Plant. It would be amazing for Celine to do some proper rock songs as well as new ballads written by Bryan.

That's strange. I wonder why she did that? Maybe she's trying to meet Celine :sofunny:

Funny to note she *only* had about 1000 pairs of shoes at that time. And also that she said she found MHWGO incredible when James Horner played it for her.... riiiiight :P

 

And that last part when she talks about being hungry !! LOL :sofunny:
