"Courage" album - Official Topic

Maybe if/when the article is published online, we'll just use Google translate...

Google translator rather will not work well in this case.

Always interested lol. Maybe you can just highlight the most interesting parts that are said, rather than a full translation?

It's not that simple, this text looks like it was written for... National Geographic :) The narrative is very "vivid" in many places, so you have to translate the whole here. Look at this example, this is how it starts:

===

Friday, July 5, 2019. Dusk falls, and almost the entire Hyde Park, with its 150 hectares of area, rumbles from the bass. Last concert on the summer stage is coming to an end. Céline Dion is in a canary yellow dress, the fourth creation of the evening, after a fancy sapphire gin with large buffs, a green dress and an extravagant red ink sequin suit. As a farewell, Céline sings a cover of John Lenoan's hit "Imagine", bows and disappears behind the scenes. There are shouts from the audience: "We love you Céline!", someone is crying with emotion. The concert staff start directing everyone to leave. The view is amazing, because the spreading audience - 70,000 people - floods this part of London in almost one moment. Sidewalks are not able to accommodate such a crowd, columns of people occupy part of the road. Buses and cars try to avoid them, traffic jams begin to form. Rickshaw drivers have noticed the opportunity to earn and luring people with loudly played Dion hits (rickshaws, illuminated by disco lights, with speakers installed are recently a tourist hit in London). And without it, the whole street shouts the words of her songs. You can see that people missed her. The only concert this year in Europe is clearly not enough. After all, we're talking about an artist who, with a record number of over 200 million albums sold, can be compared only with such music giants as The Beatels, Abba, Queen, Michael Jackson or Madonna. That July evening in Hyde Park, nobody knows what Dion is up to. How long will her fans have to wait until she reappears on this side of the ocean again.

So I'll try, but I don't promise anything :)

Friday Night; one of the biggest night time talk shows world wide and i assume she’ll be plugging the album and performing, one West coast appearance and with the tour and such she’ll be #1 NO problem, thats all the US promo she needs, especially if she does a “segment” on his show. Was hoping she’d do a proper interview on James Corden but oh well Edited by AdrienneM

Wow good! So I’m guessing since she will be in Montreal around that time, she’ll do a couple New York shows like Jimmy

Fallon. And hopefully the week after she Does the Los Angeles circuit.

I hope she’ll perform ANY song but “Lying Down” but I know it will almost certainly be “Lying Down”.

I think the Thursday night show would’ve been a better broadcast to get on. Reason being it airs during the midnight hour when the album is Already released, and IF she has a memorable moment like she did with him like last time when she did with that impersonation game, it’ll give the media time to create buzz about her the next morning, now she’ll appear Friday night and then the weekend falls with all of the other shows off until Monday.

  • Vocal enunciation is often very sloppy. It doesn't destroy my enjoyment of the album, but I feel she's been getting steadily worse when it comes to her English-language pronunciation. I was listening to the CD1992 album a couple of weeks ago, and the difference in how much care she took with pronunciation on that album and that stage in her career vs. more recent output is huge. I guess at that point they were much more concerned about making her vocals appealing to the masses to establish her career, and now they just think "She's MF-ing Céline Dion - she can do it whatever way she wants and people will like it!"

You don't even have to go that far back. On Loved Me Back To Life (album) she pronounced the words much clearer.

  • Change My Mind: Love it! The only fault I see is that I really think it would benefit from another minute to extend that last section and give it proper

After listening to the album several times I'll have to give the earworm award to Change My Mind...even if it wasn't one of my favorites at the beginning, it is the one that I find myself humming to all day long.

I think she might struggle to get #1 with this, given the Frozen OST will now apparently be released on 17th.

Céline Dion, music's greatest ever singer, the biggest-selling Canadian artist of all-time and most successful female live act ever - what's not to love?

I caved and gave this a listen - I found a site that has the songs uploaded to stream but you don't have to download them.

Fingers crossed she does! Would be great if you shared your estimations for major marks in terms of sales.

Hope she will give us many different songs from the album.

Like she did with LMBTL.

Think there are better songs, and maybe easier to sing haha

I am extremely happy that:

a.- There are no covers at all.. no covers dude, no covers. I think that, in an english release this is the very first time since Unison.

b.- No songs about moterhood.

c.- No songs about any of her sons, or her mother, or her family. (Which I respect very much)

d.- The songs for René (impossible not to expect them) are quite good: PF, FTLTIL.

e.- The song for Pepe is ok : NW. (I invented that :P)

Now, I can not stop thinking about Rene's absence effect. I am starting to think that, it seems to been postive (please don´t kill me).

But I will avoid speculating...

What I like about the songs for Rene is that they are so broad about loss anyone could get the lyrics to touch their life. I don’t miss the lullabies either.... No “buttons to a sleeve” corny songs! Lol

I am feeling bad about this, but I have to agree. I think Rene had lost his direction when it came to her English career and this became quite obvious with LMBTL. They changed the concept of the album, they did not know what to do with it, receiving the song from Sia came off as a last minute addition, and they then changed the album title. Even during promo for the album Rene seemed confused. I remember Katie Couric asking them to explain the album title, WAAF, and all he had to say was ''it is, you know, the opposites''. :wtf: This showed there was no depth to this project, nor an artistic direction. I sense he was being very much satisfied with the Vegas show? I can only speculate. I wish he was with us still, but I have to be objective and say that Celine seems considerably more adventurous. I mean, his favorite song from TC, a record that was supposed to be edgy, was ASFY. That says it all, I think. Edited by LukeD

Really the only time on the album where I thought her vocals were noticeably strange are on For The Lover That I Lost. It literally sounds like her jaw is wired shut while she's singing. I still really enjoy the song, it can be overlooked, but I think it everytime I hear it now.

Oh Yes the high note is a must..... and another thing I'm unconsciously doing is with Baby, everytime the "I don't want to wait, I don't want to wait" comes up I always finished it with a blend of Annie Lennox "I don't wanna, I don't wanna, I don't wanna wait in vain" from her Bob Marley cover of Waiting In Vain :giggle:

Is My mind playing tricks on me or do you think there's something to it :hmm:

I think Rene’s mind may have been slowing down back in 2013. He didn’t seem like a well person on that Katie Couric interview.

It’s almost Cher-eqse.., I love the melody and lyrics of the song so much tho. I wish she used more of a simple voice in that one but STILL

One of my favorites!

Yes, unfortunately it seemed like the beginning of the end that year, he wasn’t as sharp. The man will always live on tho as a musical genius / manager of a lifetime.

For sure. Definitely one of the most revered people to ever grace the recording industry. That brain was incredible. The common sense, his knowing nature and ability to nurture and be compassionate are qualities that rarely blend together for a man who was as powerful as he was.
