CelinesDIVO5 Posted September 12, 2019 at 08:31 PM Posted September 12, 2019 at 08:31 PM (edited) What lesson? A lesson should have been taught to that nobody songwriter if Celine and René had completely scrapped the song from the album. They changed the album title after all the fuss but that wasn't enough to the amount of disrespect and false accusations that the guy unfairly threw to Celine. The lesson should have been taught to this guy, not the other way around. It was him who needed to learn to be thankful and not a lier; Celine did nothing wrong here. Omg, one of her best in her entire English catalogue? I'm happy we all have so varied and different tastes here, because I couldn't disagree more with this song haha Even the snoozefest When I Fall In Love which I barely listen to is more pleasant to me than WAAF At that point, contracts with the songwriter had already been signed to have this particular song included on the album. It was supposed to be the title track from the beginning stages of the album’s conception. It was too late to just not include it. Was not so impressed when first heard the studio version, but when she sang it at the 2013 Paris concert I fell in love.Same with Immensité and Si C'Etait A Refaire. How lovely that when she sings live certain songs they are more beautiful than the studio output: maybe the arrangement or the acoustic. 3 Quote

Si c'était à refaire was great in concert, her voice was stonger on it. it was so good. i want to see it live. It was not there in montreal in 2016. I would wish to see this in the courage tour. It was supposed to be the title track from the beginning stages of the album’s conception. It was too late to just not include it. They could’ve dropped the song if they wanted, they just didn’t want to. Celine and René liked the song, why it beats me. If they were obligated to include it and they no longer wanted it, she would’ve never sang it live during promotion which besides LMBTL was sung the most if you don’t count Barnevs little moment to shine with “Incredible” in The Vegas show 1 Quote
Javito Posted September 13, 2019 at 07:44 AM Posted September 13, 2019 at 07:44 AM (edited) At that point, contracts with the songwriter had already been signed to have this particular song included on the album. It was supposed to be the title track from the beginning stages of the album's conception. It was too late to just not include it. I highly doubt that. You give up the rights to a song so that someone else can record and release it, or you either license a song to another artist. But rarely have I seen a clause where you sign a contract specifically saying where and when a song has to be released, unless it is about a "compilation album" reuniting songs from various artists and then you do specify "this song is to be included in the album xxxxx in tribute to xxxxx to be released X.XX.XX", but those are the few times when a contract says where the song has by force to be included. You get the rights over a song but the when and where this song will be included is subject to change, plans and last minute changes happen all the time in the final tracklist of an album and we've seen how many times songs that were supposed to be released on a specific Celine album, they were finally rejected and were not released until they leaked. So they could have scrapped WAAW on their own right and they had enough reasons to do it. Unless they specifically agreed each other that this song was to be released in the album named *Loved Me Back To Life*, november 2013, but I highly doubt that. That's not an usual practice in music contracts unless it's a song that someone has written *specifically* for an artist and an specific album. Which is not the case with Celine, never has been. She either uses the songs she receives on her imminent new album, or then she saves them for the next one, or some simply get never released. ryba Posted September 13, 2019 at 10:02 AM Posted September 13, 2019 at 10:02 AM (edited) I think Celine loved the song so much, that she wanted it to be on the album. That’s why she also sang it live many times, even in 2016 in NY (where she made sure to mention the songwriter lol). She could have sang LMBTL instead and put the spotlight on Sia rather than on Merriweather, but maybe she just felt like singing WAAF. Edited September 13, 2019 at 10:03 AM by ryba 1 Quote
Chantemoi Posted September 13, 2019 at 11:33 AM Posted September 13, 2019 at 11:33 AM (edited) So...no new music tomorrow. The Friday before the tour starts. I give up. I really want to trust that Celine and her team have a plan...but I’m starting to worry. Time will tell. Funny, because I never expected anything after FOMO, and I’m not disappointed. I think it’s pretty clear: they are keeping everything tight-lipped until the tour starts. After that, there’s a chance we’ll get MORE than 1-2 songs, but literally nobody from her team has said anything to support that, so my faith in them is fully intact. “The new approach” also applies to their promotional strategy. I’m no marketing expert, but I can get behind them trying something new out - if other artists are using a similar approach, it’s not failure on her team’s part to mimic that. couldawouldashoulda Posted September 13, 2019 at 05:21 PM Posted September 13, 2019 at 05:21 PM I see her team has posted on social media. While it’s showing and hashtagging Celinenunu, it says “Celine starts her world tour next week and after that...” then a wink face. Perhaps they’re trying to tell us a single will be released? I know it doesn’t mean that 100%...am just wondering. I’d think they’d release some sort of first single in September. Especially since they say FOMO was just for the fans. It reminded me of how they released that photo of her in a FOMO shirt before she performed it in Vegas. Quote
