A thought just hit me. What if the recent YouTube uploads are a secret countdown to the new single’s upload date? After they get through “Celine Dion” and “Unison,” maybe the new single will be a celebration? She has about 8-10 days left of English album uploads (if you exclude the skipped ones: “A New Day...Live In Las Vegas,” “My Love: Essential Collection,” and “The Collector’s Series - Volume One”). The timing would come right near the end of her time in Vegas.

 

That would suggest there’s logic or reason to any “strategy” they have. Which of course they don’t. It’s one bumbling mistake after the next. It’s been this way for years.

The team has executed a brilliant strategic pivot (which is no small feat!), she's a hotter commodity than she has been in a long time, and it's pretty clear they're methodically working to shift perception of her from the "lovelorn sappy power ballad queen" to a "empowerment anthem queen".

You can't do that overnight. And thus far, the execution has been stellar.

 

That's exactly the point! The marketing strategy is impressive! They were able to catch everybody's attention. Everyone is interested and wants to buy from you. But WHERE IS YOUR PRODUCT ??????? Its like you were able to convince them and when they are ready to buy from you, you'll tell them "Oh its not ready, I don't know when will it be ready, I'll give you an update etc..."

 

We can't say this is to promote her show or tour. We all know that they have been sold out.

First part of North American dates may be near sold out, but West Coast hasn't gone on sale yet, not to mention the rest of the world.

All this frustration would go away if people would finally accept what stage Celine's career is at. She is not at the stage where her singles will be hits. This is not going to happen and is not because lack of promotion is just how things work for veteran artists. That's fine, Christina singles flopped, Mariah too, Madonna too, nothing wrong about it. For older artist to release a single 6 moths ahead of the album is just suicidal, they can't keep the momentum going for so long. They want a #1 album and that's why they are doing the ticket bundle. All this US promo is helping her to sell tickets, and each ticket includes an album so indirectly they are promoting the album as well. A single now is pointless. They don't have the release date yet, they don't have the final track list, they don't have the photo shot yet, why rush things now? Anyway this is a pointless discussion, they will do as they please, nothing we can do about it. But end of June is better timing than now, with second single by the time the tour starts.

It was absolutely mentioned in the actual Carpool Karaoke show.

The car ride itself is not the time and place to do that.

I mean they will.... Madonna, Mariah, Janet, Shania, Britney and Christina all are 80s/90s stars and all most all of their songs post 2010 (except 1 from Britney and 2 from Christina) flopped. Even Mariah, Celine, Janet and Shania since 2008, none of them have had a song that even broke Top 40.

 

Unfortunately Celine just isnt a streaming force and she doesn’t get radio play unless it’s nostalgia or valentines day, so she’s probably not gonna get anywhere.

 

I would love one of them to get Top 40 , id love for her to become “relevant” again (in the charting sense) but i just cant see it happening. If it did I probably would cry lol

We get your point, we're all frustrated and want new music lol I personally just find it weird for myself to judge something that has barely even started yet. I do feel as well that doing carpool now without a new song is probably a mishap and they should have kept it for later but I did see it sparked interest in a few people who are non fans so it doesn't seem too messy

 

She could always do Carpool again. Her episode has been very successful, considered the new best Carpool in the series by many, and many general fans have asked for a part 2. I don't know that she will, but she totally could do it again.

True -- but then we have examples like Cher. Who had a #1 hit in her 50s. Granted, that was in the late 90s.

 

It goes to show that you don't necessarily need hits to have a career.

 

Celine Dion will always sell out shows even if she never releases new music ever again. But I wish she would have a Cher moment and surprise us all with another #1 hit song in her 50s!

 

But I'll take a #1 album.

 

It's also interesting that Mariah, Janet, etc. don't sell out shows but Celine does. It goes to show that people know where the sustained talent truly is.

Cher was lucky that streaming didn't exist at the time because she wouldn't have had a #1 hit. Streaming (more than radio) is the major problem for older artists...

It was so freaking short and got no decent introduction or even a serious talk about it.

 

Of course they won't report about the new song, because her face during IACBTMN, and her reaction to giving away her shoes are far more memorable and repeat worthy than that tiny snippet where you don't even notice it's a new song from her.

Don’t get me wrong, I had the upmost respect for Rene & all he did for Celine & her career and was lucky enough to meet him twice.

 

But... they can’t play this card today!

 

It wasn’t covered last year on this date regarding the song.

It’s not his anniversary, birthday, or their wedding anniversary, so TC can f*** off and be ashamed for playing this card after quite a number of negative comments today from fans following this absolute blunder after an amazing chance & world stage earlier in the week that they wasted.

Show business is business, it’s a job, she’s not doing all this for free quite the opposite... she’s there to make money and yes she enjoys it which is obviously great in any caterer but as she and Rene both said whether you like it or not, she is a product that people buy into and expect a certain standard and quite a few other fans share my opinion regarding this.

 

They had a huge chance to promote and drop this single this week and they decided to do nothing!!

Not sure who that's aimed at, but if it's me, I find it curious that would be your conclusion, since so much of what I've written here has been far more critical than "fluffy", as you put it.

Celine still has her amazing voice and talent after all these years which is amazing & rare & I truly believe that she can even in this age have one or two more number ones and huge moments in a music, but I honestly think that someone’s decisions is stopping that from being reality in recent years which makes me angry!!!!

 

This current scenario for example, the single should have come out today and the second single during her show in London regardless of the album release date, as the music business has changed since LMBTL.
