Sorry but Celine herself said she didn't want to do the vegas show, just wanted to be home with RC. Yes, she loves performing etc, but she always says during her breaks (long breaks I'm talking here), she's not missed singing. When she's doing it she loves it. When she's away she's not missing it. Contracts, obligations etc. Without vegas we wouldn't have got ANDHC or OH etc.

ANDHC came before Vegas lol. And I'm sure a new album was already in the plans for her comeback, with or without the Vegas residency. There's no way she would have waited until 2003 without releasing any new music since 2000.

And I'm sure most part of OH was already done before 2003 too :P .

She may not miss performing when she's on a break, but eventually, she misses it and has that longing to perform and come back. That's why she's said that the only thing that could force her to retire is health or losing her voice, but that she would always want to sing.

I'd say she continued that momentum in 2002 and 2003. After MHWGO and the surprising fresh style she delivered with TTWII, everyone either in the public and in the media was waiting to see what would be her next step in music. She was still enjoying her peak, not with the craziness after MHWGO but still with her name everywhere and

Sorry for the digression, but when did you become a fan, Javito? :)

Yes ANDHC came out the year before vegas, but it was promotion for the vegas show. It was the whole point for doing the album. To perform and then talk about the vegas show 😂

Anyhoo - back on topic ermmmm, any news on the album? 🤣

OK. You know I ask because you are referring a lot to ANDHC album and period, so I thought you maybe became a fan around 2002. I usually cherish the most the albums that made me discover the artist. It's not always the case, but usually it is. :)

I can agree with that. But a step back that went further in time and results than what they expected.

Why would Céline acknowledge herself, even today, that the main impression people has about her in Vegas is that her career is over, and that she's locked up there, almost isolated from the industry?

Luckily when she tours, the figures and the support from the audience say contrary, but let's hope they support her the same way when she releases new music :)

She is not isolated from the industry whilst she is in Vegas. Her career is large enough in itself to sustain itself. That has so far been proven. It hasn't needed to follow the mainstream or the norm.

Yep totally agree with you. Exactly why I love the whole TCOML era! 😀

By waiting for this album, do you think Legacy Recording / Sony will release some new editions from her back catalog like they did in 2007 and 2008 ?

It would be a nice way to make a bit money and to please us, the hardcore fans... 😍

Well, TCSV.1 was the first album that I saw released as a real fan, but ANDHC was the first studio album that came out (though like I said I already had LTAL and ATW).

When ANDHC was released, I didn't pay much attention to it, and in fact I wasn't really impressed with it. I only started to enjoy it in 2008 when the Collector's Edition was released and then it became my favourite ^_^

Huh??? :wtf: Céline has been releasing albums uninterruptedly on a yearly basis since 1990 until 2005 (not counting the break in 2001). How can you say that Vegas was "the whole point" of releasing an album in 2002, when she had been releasing one new CD every year since 1990? Of course if there was a new show coming, she would promote it next with the corresponding album, call it ANDHC or LTAL or LMBTL lol

But that would have happened inevitably with any album.

I'd rather believe that the point of the ANDHC was to celebrate the birth of her first son and secondly, her comeback to the music scene! A celebration of life, love and René-Charles, that's what the album is about, not a show in Vegas?! :P

On the contrary, A New Day... show was (or was supposed to be at least partially) about the ANDHC album. That makes more sense! :thumbsup2:

She came back in 2002 because of her vegas contract. Who knows if/when she'd have gone back to recording if that contract hadn't existed. She tried to get out of it just after RC was born but it was already too late.

Ok so how do you think she'd sell the vegas tickets back in 2002, the first few months of dates for AND?? Perhaps by having new music out and performing it in various countries?? Or do you think people from around the world would travel there to see someone after 3 years of being away?? Celine needed new music to help sell the vegas show. Same as she needed her own album (LTAL) to ride alongside Titanic and MHWGO. There was so much riding on vegas. Yes the ANDHC album is about being a mum etc but it was recorded then so she could launch it and be back in the public eye before her rehearsals started for vegas.

But you know, believe what you want to believe- totally over this conversation now 😂

After MHWGO and the surprising fresh style she delivered with TTWII, everyone either in the public and in the media was waiting to see what would be her next step in music. She was still enjoying her peak, not with the craziness after MHWGO but still with her name everywhere and her singles playing everywhere. And the coverage that her new album ANDHC got in the media only confirmed this.

The momentum was absolutely not the same. Her songs didn't chart the same as the late 90s. She was visible a lot, yes. But it was nothing like the promo for FIY or LTAL, which pretty much had Celine on morning shows, daytime talk and late night for over 3 years straight. The number of times she appeared on "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" alone, at the time was unprecedented.

I am in no way saying that the ANDHC era wasn't good for her. It was, and I still enjoy watching interviews and specials from that time. But it's seriously like comparing apples and oranges, by comparing her popularity and success from then to what it was between 1996 and 1999. There truly is no comparison. 1996 solidified her place in the industry as a true artist. From 1997-99, Celine had one of the top 5 biggest and most successful songs in the history of pop music spearheading her career. ANDHC, while successful, and a beautiful era for her career...definitely not the same.

Then the album you are looking for is One Heart, not ANDHC! That's the album that was released to promote Vegas, IDAN and the repeated songs on it were the excuse to release new music so she was in the center of attention months before the start of the show, and hence Chrysler (sponsor of the first residence) supported both the album and the show too with their partnership.

ANDHC was another completely different story. I can't see Céline saying a word about Vegas in the CBS TV special about the album, but about family, life, love and her hunger to come back to sing again! :P

OH was released the day before the show opened. Is that when she started promoting vegas then??

I never mentioned the TC special or said songs on the album were about vegas. 😏

In Tv interviews during the ANDHC promo in 2002 she was talking about her upcoming vegas show. In other words promoting the album and vegas - they went hand in hand.

Yes, Vegas among many other dozens of topics, of course! In 2003 she also released her new parfums line, and OH wasn't about promoting her parfums :P

I never saw an interview about ANDHC which started with the Vegas topic straight away, as if it was the main theme, let alone the purpose of the album lol. It was 1 year left still in March 2002 to the start of her fist show in Vegas, and the only connection I saw of Céline to Vegas during the ANDHC promo (beside the incidental questions about the future show and the building of the colosseum) was her participation in Divas Las Vegas :P Interviews were most and above all about how she had been doing during her hiatus, her life at home and the birth of RC, but Vegas show was not even close to the center of attention during the interviews and questions, are we crazy now?

And let alone they talked about Vegas in every and each interview, if only she was asked about it secondarily and most of times at the end of the interview and as a side note reminder like "by the way, Céline is starting her Vegas show in March 2003!" and that was most about it.

Anyway, believe what you want. If you really consider she released ANDHC album as an excuse or to promote Vegas and wasn't an album about her comeback, her newborn child and her new step in her life as a mother, so be it :P :whee:

I was born in 1985 but have followed her since I was nine when she first really arrived in the UK. I do think that Vegas would be hard to understand if you hadn't followed her through the late nineties, crazily big career and Rene's first illness. If you understand those two things then you can understand why Vegas appealed.
