Sorry not to meet your expectatives Alex, I cannot say more :innocent: . The problem is that I've never pretended to convince anybody of anything, like you think I do, Alex. I don't know where you get that perception and I'm sorry that you think that. Why? Because I got likes to what I write here? Because people has told me they like what I say even if its harsh but true? It's not my fault to be honest Alex and frank with what I think. What you call to be "extremist" others call it to be realistic, and what you say about campaigning for me, bitterness and so on comes as demagogue and populist, for the only reason that you don't agree with me. And what's more, modesty apart, the thing is that I never asked anybody to campaign for me at all, it was the people and friends who reached for me and asked me to come back and then complained, I never asked anybody to do anything and you know that :thumbsup2:

If you think that with my opinions I have trashed Céline and her persona, you know me very little and I'm sad you didn't get my point. My critizism with her career is not over Céline herself, it's over the team that surrounds her, René and especially her record label, like I have remarked many times. I do believe Céline has very little to do with 99% of what happens with her career. I remarked this today when I said that I don't think the current Vegas show which is overloaded with covers its her fault or her decission, but the decission of others. She probably had little to say with the concept of the show, as it was proved when she said she could barely have her voice to include "The Reason" in the show because it was mainly about covers and her popular hits, or when she complained that she wanted to open the show with MHWGO because she was sick of it and wanted to get rid of the song as soon as possible to highlight other songs for a change.

I've never spammed the official website. I posted my comments and my opinion about very specific topics when I considered it timely, like many other fans have done :) And if I know that there's a way to express my opinion and people is listening (like we know they do in her official site or facebook), I take that chance and I use that option. Why wouldn't you do the same? Attacking me for that is very unfair from your part and sorry but I'm surprised

I can't say anymore that I'm sorry you think that way of me, because you can't be more wrong. Those who know how many years I've been in the Celine forums since 2001 know how much I love Celine and that I would never attack her because of the possible mistakes or things that I dislike, because I know she's the last to blame in the list. But if I have to blame those who are responsible for being lazy with her career management and to put her at the top because its their job to do so, I won't bite my tongue to do so. This is a forum, we're not here to please anybody with what we say, we're here to share opinions and different points of view and you should always keep in mind that (something which has been so often forgotten lately in this board) :)

Buy her stuff or don't. If you don't like it, DON'T BUY IT!!!!!!! You are clearly not a Celine Dion fan. You *CENSORED* about EVERYTHING. Stop buying her products - then you won't have to care about it anymore. She sings what she sings. She does what she does. Don't like it = don't give her any money. And, just so you know, if you DO give her money, that doesn't mean she owes you a damn thing!!!!!!! She doesn't know you. She owes NOTHING to you. Go away. Stop listening to her. You don't like her! You don't like anything she does. I'm so sick of you. And you know what, if Celine knew you, she'd be sick of you too. She'd be the first to say "Stop buying my albums if you don't like them. I'm doing quite fine making billions of dollars without your approval, thank you very much"

I don't know if I generalize or not, but when Celine says she's excited when they remove the Vegas covers from her new album and they are replaced for original songs, how can the Vegas show be the most "Celine" concert she's ever done, or "made for the fans"? It gives the impression that Celine didn't have any say in the selection of the setlist (if only they barely allowed her to include "The Reason", one song of her own repertoire that she especifically asked to sing the poor girl!! http://1.1.1.1/bmi/www.celinedionforum.com/public/style_emoticons/default/ermm.gif ) and that she sold her soul (from an artistic point of view) to Caesars Palace and a director who decided what she had to sing to please a very specific audience that they knew very well which would be: mainly mature people of 50 and up, who have no idea what her discography is about. Are these considered her fans, really? Come on.........................

You have to understand that the new show reflects her image, not her discography. :) The comment they made that this show is the is most ''Celine'' show she has ever done is based on the fact that the show is very elegant, classy and polished. Like Celine is. You take it the wrong way when you think this statement was in regards to her studio recordings. They are not dumb to imply the show reflects her discography, when it is obvious to everyone that half of the songs she performs are new covers.

You also disagree that the show was ''made for the fans''. Well, the show has been 100% sold-out, even during Summer 2013 it didn't drop below 93% in capacity which means their endevor is very successful, because the fans support it. If some people (you included) disagree about the content of the show, then this is because her team could never please everyone. It is up to opinion. It's not like they failed to present a show her fans would enjoy.

I also need to say that Celine is not a victim :) The fact that sings these covers live every night is the ultimate proof she wanted them to be part of the show. The majority of her past material is lipped. I'm shocked that you use The Reason as an example of Celine trying to make a change in other people's decisions when in facts she lips the song each night showing that she doesn't really care about it. All these facts combined should ring many bells: The woman is sick and tired of a good portion of her singles-discography. Therefore, including some never-sung-before covers in her show was the best way to keep Celine interested. She recently stated in Access Hollywood that she was happy with the fact that these songs were slowly taken out of her upcoming album, but there is no contradiction here, as you think there is. This doesn't mean she didn't want the covers in the first place. It means that she felt like these songs already served their purpose and this purpose was to make her concerts less boring for her. Once she focued on the recording of her upcoming album, it made total sense to prefer the new, modern songs over the old covers she sang the past 3 years.

I think that people who are over 40 or 50 years old are big fans, as they buy expensive tickets to attend her shows. These people were in their 30s when Celine reached her commercial peak, so chances are they know very well what her discography is about.

About your comment of Celine selling her soul from an artistic point of view. First, let's clear out that her artistry lies in her performing skills (''I was born to do that, don't forget''). Therefore the fact that she went from minimalistic shows in small arenas (D'eux Tour) to theatrical concerts in Vegas (A New Day) and then from an energetic, bombastic world tour (Taking Chances) to an orchestral show (Celine) proves the evolution of Celine as an artist. She has proved over the years she is such a versatile performer and her current show adds to that characterization! On top of that, her singing has improved as well (you praised her current vocals in your previous comment), so there you have Celine sounding amazing AND reaching another peak as a performer.

You couldn't be harsher than that. I thought that javito was only stating his own opinion. He does it in a rather assertive fashion though. But, still, that's his own opinion. We don't have to attack his person or anybody else's for that matter just because we disagree with or we're sick of his or her opinion. It wouldn't hurt if we be nice and respectful to one another.

I think javito only gives his well constructed opinion. And i think it might very well be true People should stop attacking other's when they do not like their opinion. And Javito is a big fan of Celine. I am too.but being a fan can also be that you have a different opinion about Vegas for instance. I think Ken Ehrlich is indeed the one responsible for thia setlist full with covers. For celine vegas is a job and she is happy when she is home again. Maybe this setlist has become a job to her. Would they change it more it would please the audience and herself i think. But that is my opinion. Javito has his and you have your own. But it does not make anyone less fan when he or she has a different opinion.

We can agree or disagree with the others' opinions or comments, but don't attack the others... It's not a battle field here!

We should all respect the others! We are all Celine's fans, so that we care about Celine's things and have discussions here... And that's why we are all here.

And that's all you can do, attack someone when you don't agree with his opinion? If you're sick of me, just use the IGNORE function and you won't see my posts, like I've told before to others, is that easy. But I don't attack anybody else like you just did. A kind of childish way to respond, don't you think? Really, I hope you make a good use of the ignore button, will you do that? :)

Wow, your post is full of hate and anger  I've never said I don't like anything she does, that's totally ludicrous and its clear you don't really read my posts and what I've been posting about the new single, you only focus in the critics I do like your friends against me do. I never said I don't like her albums, actually I like all of them except maybe "Miracle". You have no idea if I'm a Celine Dion fan or not or who I am, but life's too short to live with so much hate like you only because you don't like what other fans think. Look what the meaning of a forum is, and what is the freedom of speech, and make some sense out of it please.

I was thinking about that too. Many of us think that without Rene and her team Celine would have gone nowhere.

But what would happen if Rene let her decide about the repertoire and other things in her career? :hmm:

Maybe it would be good if she had more free will and space for her own ideas? :)

At the age of 45 she should recieve a gift from Rene - possibility to decide what she wants to do. Rene's learnt her how to surivive in the show-buissnes machine, so he shouldn't be worry about Celine.

One day she'll has to take care of herself. If she could learn it now, she might be able to go on with singing later, when he's gone.

But we don't know whether she'll want to continue her career...

Ok! Here I come getting my a** in something I don't belong in but here I go.

Javito is a fan and everything he says he means it because it is coming from a good place. Yea sometimes it does get tiring and repetitive but he is not one of those fans that excepts everything and sugarcoat the truth. He says things the way they are. Btw I ain't trying to kiss behinds here I am just saying let the dude speak and try to see where he is coming from.

The forum should have a screening system for haters tho. Just sayin'

The second thing is there needs to be a thread about how posters should treat eachother on this forum because this is getting down right serious. It's not right to get heated and crazy with somebody over a singer that you like. People need to learn how to argue respectively, shake it off, and move on.

Another thing people need to learn not to be offensive to others. This is a diverse crowd here and we all should mindful of that. That being said, respect people and their differences.

Now this was about Celine on Larry King well lets move on from the drama and talk about this.

I love reading peoples different opinions but recently its gone maybe too far!

This is a forum and everyone should be entitled to their opinions without being attacked.

At the end of the day not everyone is always going to agree with what Celine or her team decide to do and that's ok , it doesn't make those people any less of a fan than those who love absolutely everything she does!

Me personally, I don't always agree with what Celine's team do, but to me once she is happy in her career and personal life then I'm happy for her!!

I hope with the upcoming release of the album people will agree to disagree and just embrace the new album and everything that will come with it in the coming months!

(and for the person who said The reason is lipped, it’s not, this is also a thing that comes back in almost every topic and it’s a shame. But everybody is entitled to hers or his opinion).

I have listened to at least 12 bootlegs of the show and the song is the same every time.

Where Does My Heart Beat Now, It's All Coming Back To Me Now, The Power Of Love, The Reason, Goldfinger and My Heart Will Go On are lipped.

Open Arms, At Seventeen, Lullaby (Goodnight My Angel), How Do You Keep The Music Playing, Ne Me Quitte Pas, Beauty And The Beast, The Prayer, Because You Loved Me, Live And Let Die, Nobody Does It Better, Rolling In The Deep, River Deep-Mountain High, (If You Can't Sing It) You'll Have To Swing It (Mr Paganini) and Love Can Move Mountains are always live. All By Myself is also live, except for the big note which is lipped.

I fail to see how mentioning the obvious is ''a shame''. Also, whether a song is lipped or not is not up to opinion. It is a fact. You only need a working pair of ears to tell.

The thing is that I couldn't care less if "The Reason" is lipped, Luke, its an original Celine Dion song, its there and Celine herself fighted for her own song to be included in the show. That's whats more important about it. However, other songs like the exaggerated bunch of covers they included seems more like an imposed idea to attract people's attention because she's singing "popular" songs, to please a very specific kind of public who is not even a fan of herA, instead of taking the chance to make shine the vast quantity of gems she has in her CDs, many of which have never seen the light of a stage yet. As if they didn't credit Céline's own repertoire with this show. That's the main failure I find in that show, that Céline's songs were so badly denigrated. As if they hadn't enough quality compared to those covers. As if she couldn't keep a show running with her own songs.

Now following with "The Reason", you can call me everything from boring to repetitive but the lipsynch topic is one you can't say I've been complaining to boredom like maaaaany fans have been doing in this forum for years (and I never ranted and raved against those, like you've done with me  ). I rarely enter into that discussion, I don't care. Actually, I'd rather had a show where she was singing songs of her own repertoire that she has never sang before, like Water From The Moon, If Walls Could Talk, If We Could Start Over or The Greatest Reward, even if half of them were performed in playback, than the current show she's doing with those boring covers (TO ME) even if they're performed live :) Everyone is entitled to his opinion about this, and I'd rather have a Celine Dion who sings what made me fall in love with her music in her CDs than songs I don't feel related with her at all. Because the "Celine" show setlist has no concept, like happens with the new album. It's totally random. At least "A New Day" had some background concept and they worked on it to communicate something to the public.

I don't mind much about her lipping either. I mentioned the fact that she lips ''The Reason'' because you acted as if it was special for Celine to have it in the show.

''if only they barely allowed her to include "The Reason", one song of her own repertoire that she especifically asked to sing the poor girl!! :ermm:''

I mean this story and they way it was presented to us is totally fake given the fact she neglects the song.

Well like I said I'm not an expert with the lipping thing, and it makes me sick to try to find out if she's singing live or lipping one word in a song compared to the same in another day and so on. What I think its important is that FOR ONE TIME in her career Céline raised her voice to make her opinion count in favour of including one of her songs in her concert, and that says a lot in her favour (am I trashing Celine here too, couldawouldashoulda?? ). Because according to this I can only take the conclusion that she's barely given the right to pick the songs she wants to perform in her concerts, it seems others are in charge of this (René??? :whistling: ) and it makes me feel sad about her because she's the one breaking her a## every day with her concerts for 30 years and now it seems she doesn't decide what she sings, it's others who have the last word, and that's totally unfair for her. For one time she gives her opinion and says a song she wants to perform, they barely allowed her to do so or they silenced her like with her idea of opening the show with MHWGO because she's sick of it.

So if he lipsynchs The Reason or not, that's what concerns me the least in a show surrounded by flavorless songs and random covers she has never performed before. In fact having The Reason in the show comes like a little spark of the authentic Celine (TO ME), something to be thankful for and I really appreciate her gesture to fight for her song to be there :)

This was actually a much better interview than I thought it would be. He still interrupts her as she starts to answer a question he asks (something Larry and Oprah have in common) but I was a great interview nonetheless.

Do you think sincerely that Celine is a puppet? What i think is that they want everybody to believe that, protecting her, if something goes wrong, well it is not her doing....

Is it a good a strategy if it is one? not for me to judge, but it seems to work.

Ιt DOES work. The past months I have seen so many people (myself included sometimes) to put the blame only on Rene/Sony/Her team/Her Twitter team.

That being said, if she really is a puppet, then this is a big issue.

Same here. For example, someone decided which songs will be lipped. It is not a coincidence these songs are the ones Celine is bored of singing.

She does have a voice. It is just that it is easier for us to put the blame on others and not Celine. :P

Great point.

Celine must be bored out of her mind of "The Reason" and then made up a BS story for the OWN special just so she could talk about being "edgy"

Do you think sincerely that Celine is a puppet? What i think is that they want everybody to believe that, protecting her, if something goes wrong, well it is not her doing....

Is it a good a strategy if it is one? not for me to judge, but it seems to work.

I don't like to call her a puppet, but when she openly admits that she only cares about the singing thing in her career, and that she trusts everything else to her team, that's something to think about, how much input she has taking decissions in her career?. But its been like that since she was 12 years old, she's used to that way of working.

Also, she's always been surrounded by much more older people than her in her career. If I had been in her shoes I would have felt natural to trust in the criteria and the opinions of older people than me, especially with the manager that René was in the 90's. But René is 71 today, the director of the Vegas show is even older. It's natural that they don't have the musical nose they had when they were 40 or 50, especially when music has changed so much in the last years.

So I'm not surprised that they still tell her what she has to sing or what is "best" to perform depending on the target public they have in mind. René surely tells her what she has to sing, like we've seen with her Vegas show, and they surely disagreed with the songs they wanted to include in the new album, first as "Water And A Flame" and then as "Loved Me Back To Life". Just look how she talked in the Access Hollywood interview, when she explains how they were picking the songs for the album. It became evident that she disagreed with the concept of covers and she herself says "she felt excited when the new songs came in".

So... puppet or not, she's still told what songs to record and what to perform in her concerts, and I'm sad she hasn't more power to speak her mind and make her voice count. Not that she should feel angry or bad about that, I guess she's totally used to giving in :ermm: Not that they tell her today "Celine, you have to record one album in english now and another one in french tomorrow" and she can't refuse, of course she can! We perfectly know music is in a very good background in her life, but once she's into doing a new project like an album or creating a concert's setlist of songs, I'm sure she still trusts in others opinion first place and looks for advice, instead of taking her own decissions and following her creative instincts. She wants to please too much the people with whom she works and that's not good.

I don't like to call her a puppet, but whe she openly admits that she only cares about singing, and that she trusts everything else to her team. That's something to think about, how much input she has taking decissions in her career?.

Not that she should feel angry or bad about that, I guess she's totally used to giving in :ermm:

Said like this, it makes perfect sense, and it is very sad....

but i think they insist on those points in interviews and such, it seems rehearsed . Celine know exactly what to say with the utmost sincerity, what is more telling is what she choose to not say. She is way more brillant that what she shows at time. A little cunning. We are the puppets.

Great point.

Celine must be bored out of her mind of "The Reason" and then made up a BS story for the OWN special just so she could talk about being "edgy" http://1.1.1.3/bmi/www.celinedionforum.com/public/style_emoticons/default/clap.gif

You know, she lips songs she is bored of singing. This is the only reason behind her lipping habits. She is not using pre-recorded tracks in order to protect her voice as tons of people say or she wouldn't sing live demanding songs such as The Prayer, Show Must Go On, It's A Man's World, Alone, River Deep-Mountain High, Fade Away during the Taking Chances Tour which included 132 shows! Love Can Move Mountains also includes high belts and she always sings it live.

It is one of these fake stories they make during documentaries. Remember the lame moment during ''Celine:Through The Eyes Of The World'' where she complained about her vocal condition? She said she didn't know if she could make it and THEN they showed us the big note of ''All By Myself'' in order to impress everyone, as if she was able to belt it out despite her issues. Little do people know that this note was lipped too which totally invalidates the point of the scene.

And still the interview where someone directly goes to the point and asks her "who picks the songs in your albums" (given that she doesn't write her own songs, it's not a silly question to ask after 30 years of career!), "do you choose the songs setlist for your concerts" and "who has the last word in the tracklist of your albums" is yet to come  .......... I guess this hasn't enough appeal to entertain the audiences... Stay tuned :whistling:

I think there's a handful of exceptions such as the big ABM note, but otherwise I agree 100 percent. So much of Celine's image and the things she says are calculated beyond belief. I'm not saying she's not genuine about certain things (her kindness, her love towards her family, her love of performing when her voice is in top shape, her appreciation of her fans) but otherwise it's all smoke and mirrors.

I think they also included "The Reason" just so Celine could make that gloaty speech about Carole King writing the song and Sir George Martin producing it. Poor girl must be bored to death of it! :innocent:
