"Unfinished Songs" - Theme song from the movie "Song for Marion"

Sorry guys but Mariah's "Almost Home" has nothing to do with Céline's "Unfinished Songs". We can't even compare them, because to start with, Almost Home is having a massive promotion, whereas Unfinished Songs... ermmm... can we even mention the word "promotion" with it? The promotion does not even exist here, there's NO promotion at all...

 

And only because Almost Home is having promotion (and huge support by a movie company and a record label ehem!), it doesn't matter if Céline's song is better or worse than Mariah's... Mariah is just wiping out everything because she has promotion, and Céline has 0. Simple as that.

Fact is : ''Almost Home'' is a commercial flop just like ''Triumphant''.

Oh come on...it's definitely Mariah singing. Her voice may not be in the shape it was in the 90s/Early 2000's, but the woman can still carry a tune. And honestly I think "Almost Home" is her best vocal in the past 10 years. It absolutely is her. Regardless of whether or not they auto tuned her a little bit, it fit the song.

Because they constantly ignore whatever new thing she does in music, either if its worth to be promoted or not, no matter if her last album has got great sales and critics and its crying to have many singles or if its been 6 years without a new english song... But then she comes with a new perfum they announce it with great fanfare as if everybody was waiting for that.

 

Let's see if they are saving their efforts for the next single of the new album, hope you're right

 

Well Sony doesn't sell or promote perfumes!!

A different company handles perfumes... and that company decides how big the launch will be and how much money will be spent on promo. But it would be nice if Sony would be spend as much money on Céline's new album launch.

That has nothing to do with if they will release "Unfinished Songs" or not considering the movie titled in the US as "Unfinished Songs" will just be hitting theaters. So in my opinion waiting till June to release the song would be smart because the US and other countries will be getting it into theaters and the UK will be getting it on DVD...it makes more sense to release the song then than it would to release it now....

i dont like mariah much either but she doesnt really suck, you dont get to where mariah, celine, madonna are by sucking, she might not be our taste but i hate when people generalise like that. I get someone saying "oh god celine dion is awful" everytime i mentioned i was going to vegas to see her, it really p******d me off, i always said well considering she is so awful she is the biggest selling female singer of all time, and people always said "well that doesnt mean shes good" or when tesco (british supermarket) were found to have horse meat in their foods i lost count of the number of people who said "poor celine" i just think if we dont like mariah we dont have to listen to her, but to say she sucks just makes us as bad as the celine haters.

sorry to keep the topic off the issue (but we are also dicussing the differences with the soundtrack versions/a;bum versions) but if you go to 2,40 on this video celine tells you herself she never rerecorded MHWGO, just to clear it up, she admits that she was wrong not to like the song, did the demo and then never did another recording

Hey man, they never said it was recorded in ONE TAKE but that she only recorded the DEMO and nothing else. A demo can have as many takes it's necessary. There's a BIG difference in this sentence.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that's not the kind of song that you record in one take, not even for Celine. If that's really the case, then I wonder how much they retouched her voice.

 

In BYLM and specially in TYLAM, you clearlly can hear a big diference in the key of her vocals. In TYLAM it's deeper for sure.

Believe it or not I haven't listen to the full song, only the 30 seconds sample (it sounded like a reject from One Heart and a Coulda Woulda Shoulda copycat) but I will try to give hope a little faith and wait until the album comes out...on one hand it is great they (SONY and Rene and all that record company mafia) are doing an album with only new songs...but if THIS is what we should expect..boy oh boy...heading straight to disaster. I hope that Ne-Yo duet kicks my adrenaline back up!

She DID recorded the song for LTAL, the ending is completly different from the one on the Titanic's soundtrack...

The key is the same. The vocal sounds slightly different because of the mixing, however, if you listen to both songs in HQ on iTunes they are the same vocal.

The key isn't different. The mixes are different and they seem to have slowed down the song a bit for the soundtrack version.

Then tell me, why are for ex. edgy Taking Chances or Reveal cosidered bad? Celine changed in her hiatus, she became cooler. OH is more versatile than FIY lol. OH even had a better critcal reception than most of Celine's 90's albums, even french ones. But I agree, Celine really needs unique and colourful (or dark) ballad to leave everyone speechless.

 

Unfinished Songs is not weak, it's just not modern enough to please the tastes of teens. It's a theme song for a movie full of old people. Only hope for this song is a radio remix like one for ANDHC.

 

Lot of Celine's fans and Red Heads adore Celine's edgy songs and albums, her versatility. So, create a thread called ''90's Celine > 00's Celine''. Why can't you feel the emotion in her newer albums? Only because we don't have recording sessions of OH or ANDHC it doesn't mean that she recorded her fast songs only to please her younger fans! And Taking Chances is Celine's best english album ever. After few listens, I fell in love with it, it's high quality production, Celine's voice, lyrics are just a pure masterpiece.

 

So, IF you consider U.S. not inovative enough only because its 'juneville' (Its lyrics are strong and deep, Celine's voice is amazing) or 'dull', then take a look at our beloved Sans attendre. I never play tracks number 6, 7, 8 and 13 because those songs are so BORING. U.S. isn't boring, it's more unique than all Sans attendre songs except LM, QPVSA?, Attendre, SJNRT. CQMTA sounds awfully early '00s but the song is enjoyable more than any boring multi-versatile over produced ballad today.

Also, even tough Sans attendre is more emotional, Taking Chances is better. You can't hear anything raw in SA, yet TC haves its silence. Sans attendre and Taking Chances are Celine's most advanced albums ever. I hope WAAF will be good enough to kick TC from it's throne.
