Changes to the show?

There's a lot of her songs they could perform that way. Even songs you wouldn't associate with that kind of performance. Such potential!

I talked about this a while back with a member here, but I think she just comes down from the grand Céline we think she is. I think she just lets it all out, those performances are so nice. :)

Listening to 'Next Plane Out' makes me realize it could work. I know we say a lot of songs, but I think this one could work with the orchestra and the piano :)

I was toying with the idea of two encores. What if she did MHWGO- then went back and changed. Then the band leaves completely- and Mego and her walk out and do one more song? MHWGO is nice, but it's the ending every single show... (well, at least English shows. Lately francophone has been Le Miracle or PQTME) Edited by CelineDionFreak

To anyone who brought up the idea of having My Heart Will Go On as just piano and Celine's voice, I found a video on YouTube of a performance on August 6, 2011 where the piano was very loud. I thought it actually sounded very nice. Here's the link if any of you want to watch it.

She could end the show with some of her classics like IACBTMN and TPOL and start it with some of uptempo songs like IA, ANDHS

I'm not sure how it would work, but I think incorporating "Introduction" from her self-titled album could be a cool nod to the past. It's VERY orchestral and would fit in perfectly well with the show. Even if it were just the instrumentation. Perhaps it could be used an instrumental interlude somewhere in the show. Maybe in place of the Michael Jackson instrumental interlude segment?

Someone above mentioned that it would be neat if Celine picked her favorite songs from her albums, not just the hits and it got me thinking how I would love it if she did this and then also told the stories behind why she picked them to sing. You know, was it because it reminded her of something, made her emotional, etc.

I posted the following in the "Celine Puts Show Business Career On Hold..." (http://www.celinedionforum.com/topic/53408-celine-puts-show-business-career-on-hold/) thread, but I felt the need to post it here as well:

I'm to the point where I just want her to buy out her contract at Caesars Palace and not return to Vegas ever again, except to perform one or two nights as part of a tour, promotional or otherwise. The performances which have been outside of Vegas have proven she is so done with the whole Vegas thing. The amount of energy and happiness which exudes from her while away from Caesars Palace is incredible. (Pardon the pun.) I really do wonder what the Asian setlist was going to be like. I bet it was going to be glorious and a breath of fresh air for Celine and her band. Hopefully she and they will get the chance to make it happen in the near future.

a new acoustic version of EYES ON ME will be very interesting

a lit bit more down, more reagee

This is my set for a new show

I'd bring 4 Dancers and keep the orchestra

1. Its all comming back to me now - Opening

2. Nothing Broken But My Heart

3. Eyes On me - more acoustic

4. Falling into you

5. Because you loved

6. A New day has come

7. I'm alive

8. Treat Her like a lady

9. Where does my heart beat now

10. The power of love

11. Tell Him - Virtual Duet with Barbra

12. My love

13. Breakaway

14. Taking Chances

15. Have you ever been in love

16. Love can move moutains

17. Declaration of love

18. Pour que tu m'aimes encore

19. My Heart Will Go on

I agree but on saying that you have to think about the "Vegas Audience" it's not all like Celine fan fan like us.......

This is why I admire Shania and her vision for Vegas. It was 100% original songs, and each segment of the show had a clear theme. It was totally creative, original and FUN! She didn't try to cater for everyone by throwing in loads of covers just to get maximum ticket sales like Celine has. Instead, she took all her greatest hits and the technology Caeser's had to offer in order to create an immersive audio/visual experience...

Maybe the creator and her team are better - maybe Celine should join Shania's team

Or maybe they should just sit down and listen to the atw + collectors series albums. Remind themselves there's more celine hits than the usual few!

Exactly!! It really frustrates me how since 2002 they think her only hits are MHWGO, BYLM, IACBTMN, TPOL, TLYM & ABM. The rest are forgotten, and we are stuck with over-performed songs like RDMH that lost their energy years ago...

When Celine does eventually come back, I'd really like to see her do a show with a clear theme and vision for each segment. Mr Paganini - Lullaby - The Reason made absolutely no sense whatsoever, they really need to think more carefully about the setlist order.

Personally, I would love to see the following songs performed again:

- Unison

- If You Asked Me To

- Water From The Moon

- With This Tear

- Nothing Broken But My Heart

- Think Twice

- Only One Road

- The Colour Of My Love

- Call The Man

- The Power Of The Dream

- Let's Talk About Love

- Immortality

- That's The Way It Is

- A New Day Has Come

- Have You Ever Been In Love

- Taking Chances

Oh Tim... I love your suggestions except 2. With this Tear needs to be locked up and the key thrown away :P and Have you Ever Been in Love, it's bad enough it's on 2 albums. The rest I agree with especially Water From the Moon.

That's because Shania Twain is an artist. Celine is a performer/entertainer. Shania writes or co-writes the majority of her own material. She is heavily involved with practically everything regarding her career. Celine? She has barely written anything on her own or with other people, and has openly admitted that she sees writing and singing as two different things. She also has made it clear that once she lays her vocals down, then she is over and done with the whole thing save singing some songs during a tour.

Until Celine decides to actually become an artist, we will never see anything truly introspective or unique regarding Celine in her shows.

I totally agree. I have been thinking this for a few years now. Celine is definitely not an artist. She is a singer/vocalist.

It's sad that compared to her peers she has very little interest in taking artistic and creative control of her projects. Instead 99% of the time she does what she is told...

I also think she needs to fight for what she wants. She wanted MHWGO at the beginning... But she didn't get it. She did get TR- but she still could influence her show sooooo much more.

About the artist thing, even though she doesn't write her own music- I still call her an artist. She just doesn't write her music. She's a legend, I don't see why she can't be an artist too!

True but there's always a reason why celine recorded a particular song or why she wants to sing it. That's artistry also.

I'm with you on this one. You can add "I Feel Too Much," "Somebody Loves Somebody," "Fade Away" and "You And I" to that list, too. I'd also love to see her perform songs she has NEVER performed live:

"If We Could Start Over"

"Little Bit Of Love"

"Love You Blind"

"Just A Little Bit Of Love"

"Then You Look At Me"

"Reveal"

"Naked"

"In His Touch"

"Surprise Surprise"

"Thank You"

"Unfinished Songs"

And those are only English songs. There are TONS of French songs in her catalogue I'd love to see her perform live someday. Just a few include:

"Cherche encore"

"En attendant ses pas"

"Ne bouge pas"

"Retiens-moi"

"Les paradis"

"Femme comme chacune"

"Le temps qui compte"

"Les jours comme ça"

I can agree with you about "With This Tear." Talk about a snoozefest! However, "Have You Ever Been In Love" is pure beauty! It is one of her most romantic songs, next to "The Colour Of My Love."

What's wrong with HYEBIL?! I like it! It took a while to grow on me but I adore it now!

Ditto!

This. She talks about how much she LOVES certain songs (i.e. "A Song For You," "Love Is All We Need") and then never does anything with them! Yes, "A Song For You" was performed a sprinkling of times, but that's it. That song would have been PERFECT for "Celine." As for "Love Is All We Need," it was rehearsed for "A New Day...," but then yanked for whatever reason. If it didn't fit with that show, so be it, but considering the theme of the "Taking Chances World Tour," it would have been perfect for that endeavor.

True but there's always a reason why celine recorded a particular song or why she wants to sing it. That's artistry also.

Not quite. Just because I know the type of food I like and select it to eat at a restaurant does not make me anymore of a chef or food connoisseur than the next person. It takes much more than just selecting songs to record because someone likes them to make them an "artist". Celine's albums, primarily her English ones, are always a mash-up of this genre and that genre. There is rarely, if ever, a theme or continuity to them. "Miracle" was probably the only exception to this, as are the live albums and "best of" compilations. If you look at the albums "Let's Talk About Love" and "Loved Me Back To Life," there is hardly any continuity or theme to them. You have a ballad here, then a Jamaican rap song, then an R&B song...oh, let's throw in a gospel-infused uptempo number. But hold on, we have to put in the theme song to that ship movie because it's all the rage now. A duet with an opera singer? Oh, sure! Throw that on the wall, too! I bet it'll stick. You wanna put a song on the album with an electric guitar and a weird echo intro on an album with a cover of a Stevie Wonder song, plus an uptempo song that sounds as if it could be a Gotye song ("Somebody Loves Somebody"). Hmmm...my son says I should do a duet with "Ne-Yo" and not pass up the opportunity. Yup! Let's add that onto the album, too!

I think you all can see where I'm going with this.

Unfortunately it wasn't a typo. Not a fan of the song. I will tolerate it when listening to ANDHC and sometimes I think it's ok. However I have to skip it on One Heart, I just can't deal with it.

We'll have to agree to disagree then. I'm never going to agree on a songwriter being an artist and a singer not. And celine has written songs, she just says they're two different careers and prefers to separate them.

And why the hell do albums have to have a theme nowadays? They never used to. Why isn't it good enough to just have an album of bloody good songs?

Like I said, agree to disagree. Lol

I agree with all of your post! I haven't understood the "theme" thing. I guess her "theme" would be love, she mentions the word in 99% of her songs! Yep, "love" would be her theme and continuity. Lol!
