SuperLove4Celine Posted November 16, 2014 at 11:29 PM Posted November 16, 2014 at 11:29 PM (edited) Guys your still putting songs in here that people DONT know, were not popular on the radio, Yes I do agree with new songs, like something from the new ALBUM, So if your going to create a set list add something FROM the new album,, with the Older songs, BUT make it BASIC. songs that people know of or head n the radio I agree...to a degree. While I agree there are definite "required songs" and "semi-required" songs which should be part of a Celine Dion setlist, I also don't think it is unfair or asking too much of Celine and her team to include at least one or two "hardcore fan favorite" songs in her current show. Songs such as "Fade Away," "Then You Look At Me," "Us," "I Know What Love Is" and "Tous les blues sont ecrits pour toi" would easily make great additions to a 31-piece orchestra themed show. Whereas, "Reveal," "A cause," "Sorry For Love ('A New Day Has Come' Mix)," "Unison" and "Did You Give Enough Love" would probably not work as well. If "I Surrender" was made to work as well as it did in "A New Day...," any of the sample aforementioned workable songs should be added to "Celine" when/if she returns. Furthermore, there are many international hits which could work well in a "fan dedication" segment of "Celine." Performing "Think Twice" as a dedication to her U.K. fans would be very touching, and very introspective to The Colosseum's patrons who only know Celine for "My Heart Will Go On" and "Beauty And The Beast." Adding in "Be The Man (On This Night)" or "To Love You More" as a nod to the Asian fans would be great as well. I could say the same for "Falling Into You" for her Australian fans. "Sola otra vez" for Latin fans. I guess the point I'm trying to make, not just to you, nuts2you, but to everybody, is that the one thing I feel is severely lacking from "Celine" is that one extra added layer of soul that would round it out to perfection. A demonstration of true thanks to her longtime fans and/or international fans would make the show considerably better, in my opinion. Edited November 16, 2014 at 11:33 PM by SuperLove4Celine 2 Quote

The sad fact remains, though, that unless a song is a well-known cover or a Top 10 hit, it most likely won't ever see the light of day in "Celine." At least not while Ken Ehrlich is still part of the show. Covers like "At Seventeen" and "Mr Paganini" really work well in the show I'll give you "At Seventeen," but "Mr. Paganini" serves no purpose in a Celine Dion show. If she wants to do jazz, then she should record an original jazz song/album. I'm honestly bored to tears with going to a Celine show and having random and meaningless covers in her shows. Although, to a degree, I can at least understand "At Seventeen" as it speaks to her feelings growing up and its connection to The Grammys. She needs a director who is a fan of hers. Someone who knows her back catalogue, not just certain songs. I'd do it, and I'm cheaper than Ken! Wanna work together? I'm sure the two of us could create something far better than Ken ever could. The main "example" is that Céline mostly prefers to sing covers than her own songs (don't ask me why, but I've heard it from a few in her team). So that's why this show is so "perfect" to her and has rarely changed throughout the first 3 years... Yes those songs we definately know the story behind, but she also had a big say in the other ones (like the MJ medley). Btw, "Lullabye" was actually Ken Ehrlich's idea (Céline didn't want to sing that song at first). Timster Posted November 22, 2014 at 11:35 AM Posted November 22, 2014 at 11:35 AM (edited) I saw Bryan Adams live for the first time this week back in the UK, and he sang 26 of HIS songs, either in full or with extended instrumental parts. The great thing about his shows is that nothing in his back catalogue is off-limits. His setlists change all the time, and cover almost all of his singles, as well as non-singles too. On Wednesday night, he performed the entire 'Reckless' album as well as 2 previously unreleased tracks that appear on the new 30th Anniversary Edition. He also sang about 15 other singles from the rest of his albums, including his latest. I really don't understand why Celine's shows can't be based around her singles and other great songs from her catalogue. With the current show, it feels like she only has 5-6 hits when in fact she has so many more... When you look at Celine's French shows, she has actually made non-singles popular and very well-known thanks to performing them so often. Songs like Terre, Regarde-moi and Destin were never singles but are staples in her French catalogue. If Celine had kept performing songs from throughout her career on a regular basis, they would not be forgotten. I worry that by focusing on MHWGO, BYLM, IACBTMN, TPOL, ABM she is not supporting her music or showing much pride in her extensive back catalogue... Celine Fan 77 Posted November 22, 2014 at 01:01 PM Posted November 22, 2014 at 01:01 PM The idea of the show focusing on the 'Loved Me Back To Life' album seems less and less impossible to me as time goes by. Just by thinking that, just like they focused on 'Sans Attendre' during the 2013 mini tour, they were planning to focus on the English album in the Asia Tour. The Asia Tour was cancelled so this didn't take place BUT now that the show is like 3 years old and it will probably be 4 when Celine returns, my guess is that the Vegas show is going to be more centered on the English record... Do I have a choice? Doing a survey such as the one TeamCeline did would be difficult to conduct accurately for ANY artist of Celine's caliber. With such an extensive back catalog, including every song she's ever recorded would make people either not bother with the survey due to its enormous size, or the casual fans would simply scroll to a "best of" album and select "My Heart Will Go On," "Because You Loved Me" and "The Power Of Love." The best idea would have been to have weekly "Survivor"-esque surveys for each album. Include one French album and one English each week. Then, at the end of the weekly "album survey", there could be one last survey with the top two songs from each album. I believe that would have been the best approach to the song survey for it would have given a better representation of what her fans feel about her music. 1 Quote

It makes no sense that she "starts" to promote an old album, and the same happens with the Asia tour (that seems to has been postponed), I see no point in singing songs that are gonna be 2 years old as they were new. Timster Posted November 25, 2014 at 07:07 PM Posted November 25, 2014 at 07:07 PM I thought I'd post this just to emphasise my point about Bryan Adams and the fact that no song is off-limits in his shows. This table shows all the SINGLES he has performed in his live shows in 2014 (shown in green). This does not include the non-singles, b-sides and unreleased tracks he often performs too. 39 different singles, all performed at least once since January 2014. If I made the same table covering the past 3-4 years, you would find that almost his entire singles catalogue has been performed. This shows someone who is proud of his repertoire, as whether old or new, successful or flop, he gives fans everything. http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk17/ShuttleDiscovery/BAsinglesperformed2014.jpg 2 Quote

I'm also a big Bryan fan, but unfortunately....there's no way you can compare Bryan (or Bruce Springsteen, Garth Brooks, Sting, etc.) to Céline.. for a lot of reasons. One being he is a "true" artist; writing his songs himself, which gives him (ie) more freedom. Another being he is simply a "tour man", he keeps on touring endlessly throughout the year, year after year (so he just can't uses the same setlist over & over again). Also, he rarely releases a new album/new songs anymore and puts an emphasis on touring. And one big factor: he is male. And this is in no way sexism, but male & female artists have quite different "musical" careers, with the latter focusing on family sooner or later (and there's something like a biological clock), which will take priority eventually. While most female artist tend to "slow down" after their 40s, most male artist tend to amp up their game and tour even more! 2 Quote »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» MATHIAS ««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzPrxI0AIDY

The curtain drop in Open Arms, and it being on a particular note, was her idea. The entire James Bond sequence may have been, and RC being her James Bond was definitely her idea (I know she mentioned the family playing James Bond monopoly as being a catalyst for this). And many of the other songs have personal meaning for her . .At 17; the tribute to Michael Jackson. The only ideas specifically identified as not Celine's were the duet with herself, Ne Me Quitte Pas, and Lullabye. I think it's reasonable to assume she had a lot of influence on the show as a whole. And I think "slapped down" is a little harsh to describe what happened with MHWGO. The rest of the team didn't think it being the opener was a good idea, and Celine trusted them. Celine herself said she's glad they don't listen to her all the time and that she's smart enough to be able to listen to ideas of others. 3 Quote
