Wow - was she as amazing live as she is in recordings? I adore her voice, and We've Only Just Begun was my parent's wedding song, so The Carpenters have a special place in my family.

I was fairly young when I went to one of their concerts, we're talking early 70's, so I can't be the judge on live voices. All I know is she has/had a calming voice which I love. "Close To You" is the favorite of mine. My mom would sing it to me all the time

I was listening to Skies of LA and I thought it would go well after MHWGO for the closer of Celine. It's a great song. Also Celine says "I'm not quite sure what the future holds, but the best is yet to come." So it would play well off the line "My future looks like the skies of LA."

I've said this a few times but I'm not the biggest fan in changing up the show but my feelings since the cancellation are that all this will depend how long she is gone for. I'm of the opposite opinion. I hope when/if she returns, the show is stripped down and completely redone. I found the show to have too many random covers and not enough original material. Furthermore, while her 31-piece orchestra is touted on all of the promotional material, I never felt the orchestra was utilized to its full potential. For example, I know many fans on here are tired of "To Love You more," and I am sure Celine is tired of it as well. However, that song, which reached #1 on the A/C charts, has all the makings of a perfect 31-piece orchestra live performance. Especially when it comes to the violin playing. The fact this song, as well as many other orchestral Celine originals were missing from the show, led me to lose interest in it fairly quickly after Opening Night.

 

IF the show is to remain with its 31-piece orchestra theme, I hope we see more ORIGINAL Celine songs added and the orchestration bumped up. Songs such as "Call The Man," "A New Day Has Come," "Have You Ever Been In Love," "Fade Away," "I Want You To Need Me," "Nothing Broken But My Heart" and the aforementioned "To Love You More" DEMAND a spot in her show. All of them have amazing arrangements which would be perfectly suited for a 31-piece orchestra. If this is not going to be done, the 31-piece orchestra theme needs to go away, and an all-new show from top to bottom should be constructed.

 

Two ideas I have for an all-new show are the following:

 

A covers show titled "Celine: Wonderful World." Since Celine seems to love adding covers into her shows, and since the Las Vegas clientele tends to eat them up, I say embrace the covers theme IN FULL. If there is any artist out there right now that could blow people away with their interpretations of classic and timeless songs, it's Celine. (Perhaps Barbra Streisand would be right next to her.) This show would bring back some of Celine's well-known covers:

• "The Power Of Love"
  
• "It's All Coming Back To Me Now"
  
• "All By Myself"
  

This show would also allow Celine to bring back some other covers she has performed and/or recorded in the past:

• "What A Wonderful World" (the song the show would be named after)
  
• "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face"
  
• "All The Way"
  
• "If I Could"
  
• "Can't Help Falling In Love"
  
• "Calling You"
  
• "Nature Boy"
  
• "How Do You Keep The Music Playing" (the self hologram duet from "Celine" could remain intact)
  
• "(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman"
  
• "When I Need You"
  
• "Over The Rainbow"
  
• "Flashdance...What A Feeling"
  
• "Something"
  
• "At Seventeen"
  
• "I Finally Found Someone"
  
• "Smile"
  
• "The Greatest Love Of All"
  
• "I Drove All Night"
  
• "River Deep, Mountain High"
  
• "The Best"
  

The show would also include a couple songs which would be brand new covers for Celine. Songs she has never covered before. A couple examples include:

• "Embraceable You"
  
• "The Way You Look Tonight"
  

She could also do a cover or two of some current tracks, but with a classic Celine twist:

• "Just The Way You Are" [bruno Mars]
  
• "Clarity" [Zedd feat. Foxes]
  

Of course, this show would also have a sprinkling of some of her biggest original hits:

• "My Heart Will Go On"
  
• "Because You Loved Me"
  
• "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" (the montage with screens from "Celine" could remain)
  

The other idea for a new show would be something more modern. It would include a bit more uptempo material, and would have some of her classics reinterpreted with new arrangements (i.e. "I'm Alive" during the "Taking Chances World Tour"). This new show would give lesser known (to America) or "forgotten" songs a chance to be performed for the public, but in a much more cohesive way:

• "Somebody Loves Somebody"
  
• "A cause"
  
• "Unison"
  
• "That's The Way It Is"
  
• "Did You Give Enough Love"
  
• "Think Twice"
  
• "In His Touch"
  
• "Love Is All We Need"
  
• "Qui peut vivre sans amour?"
  
• "Loved Me Back To Life"
  
• "Regarde-moi"
  
• "Tous les blues sont ecrits pour toi"
  
• "Sorry For Love ('A New Day Has Come' Mix)"

This new show would of course include the biggies:

However, as mentioned before, those songs would be given modern arrangements to breathe new life into them. These new arrangements wouldn't be anything drastic. I would not expect "The Power Of Love" to be performed in the style of a 70s disco song. However, they would be freshened up. Possibly with the help of some of today's current DJs such as Zedd. I could easily see the arrangement of "The Power Of Love" receive some treatment to it like Zedd gave the song "Clarity." It would be slightly ethereal, yet still allow Celine's amazing vocal abilities to shine through.

 

A few working titles for this show would be:

• "Celine Dion: Reveal"
  
• "Celine Dion: In Unison"
  
• "Celine Dion: The Way It Is"
  
• "Celine Dion: Breakaway"

Which is why I think the covers show idea I proposed earlier would probably work best between the two ideas I proposed. The audience would get their favorites (i.e. "The Power Of Love," "All By Myself," "It's All Coming Back To Me Now"), but also get some other cover songs Celine has recorded that have become fairly well-known (i.e. "(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman," "All The Way," "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," "Alone," "When I Fall In Love"). Of course, "My Heart Will Go On" would have to fit in there somewhere. While it wouldn't be a cover, I think she could get away with having this be the only "original" in a covers show. I don't think the critics and/or fans would chastise her too much for this one song deviating from the theme of the show.

I think when Celine comes back (not if--because we know it's when) she can't just start off where she left off. it's too strange. too weird. I think that if they were planning on changing it up, now's the time. Well, when she's ready to do rehearsals. Maybe in the Spring. We know she can pull a new show together in 2 months so even in April or May start looking at changes.

Guys your still putting songs in here that people DONT know, were not popular on the radio, Yes I do agree with new songs, like something from the new ALBUM, So if your going to create a set list add something FROM the new album,, with the Older songs, BUT make it BASIC. songs that people know of or head n the radio

The ones I would include is IACBTMN, TPOL, BYLM... Just because those are her hits the casual fan will want to hear. Well and maybe ANDHC or HYEBIL (#2). Well and MHWGO... Lol.

but i have to say some set list and the songs r just kinda unrealistic i don't think it would work in a vegas show.....
