I always go hoping the show will happen but till the curtain goes up I'm prepared as well. I'm going next month for 10 days but already have plans to cut it down to 3 and come home early if she's not well. I go 3-4 times a year and have only been cancelled on once. I saw her in Jamaica then had Vegas tickets the next month, she cancelled and I just didn't even go to Vegas. Stinks when u are there and that happens... Hasn't happens to me yet. Quote

SuperLove4Celine Posted July 31, 2014 at 01:45 AM Posted July 31, 2014 at 01:45 AM (edited) What a joke. I second this. One of the orchestra members has said on twitter , changes are on the horizon! Yes, and how many times have we been hearing that? I can recall numerous times when somebody mentions a member of the orchestra has stated that "changes are coming," and then nothing happens. Her orchestra members seem to be about as reliable with information about the show as Disney Cast Members are about upcoming happenings at Disneyland. At first, I was sad too. I planned on going back in August just for SSDA. But, given the recent news of her not feeling well, and cancelling the next 5 shows (from tonight until next Wednesday), maybe it was just cut so she could get through the show more quickly? I agree with the above poster about her not having a French song in her show, but at the same time, given the average person in her audience (i.e. people who do not speak French), if she needed to get through a show more quickly, it makes sense to cut the French song. Hopefully, when she is feeling better, SSDA will be back! But, if not, I am sure she will add a French song to replace it. Agreed! There is so much involved. She cannot just randomly pick songs and try them out for one night. It is something that requires a lot of coordination among different parties, not to mention practicing everything once it is all set with an orchestra.Although I have loved the show thus far, I am excited for the possibility of changes too! *Edit: My error. At first I had it was 6 shows cancelled, but it seems to only be 5 shows. I hope she feels better soon! I don't buy into this. There are PLENTY of English songs which could have been dropped, but weren't. Songs such as "At Seventeen" and "Mr. P," for example. To remove the one and ONLY French song from her setlist is a spit in the face to where she comes from. It is to me abhorrent at best. Furthermore, artists around the world, both indie and large, make changes to their setlists night after night. I can understand removing a huge number such as the Bond Medley would require a lot more work, but swapping out something like "At Seventeen" for a song such as "Have You Ever Been In Love" really shouldn't require that much effort. On top of that, I would hope to God the orchestra members who have been hired for one of the most high profile shows in the world would be able to easily play a piece of music presented them, whether it be something they're familiar with, or something they're seeing for the first time. I'm honestly not trying to be rude and single you out, Nico, but I'm tired of the fans on here making excuses for both Celine and her team's artistic laziness. If Dave Matthews Band can have different setlists for each city they visit, AND post those setlists to their Instagram account as proof of these continuous changes while on tour, then I fail to see why Celine can't do a few BASIC setlist changes here or there from time to time. Her performance of "A Song For You" a while back is proof that it CAN be done. She and her team just choose not to do so...period. Edited July 31, 2014 at 01:52 AM by SuperLove4Celine 1 Quote

Her performance of "A Song For You" a while back is proof that it CAN be done. She and her team just choose not to do so...period. No worries! I don't feel singled out. Frankly, even if you were, it wouldn't change my opinion (I recognize that may read snarky, but please take my word it is not intended that way. Some things do not translate well when written in a post). Of course, you can think her focusing on English songs in a venue that is predominately English speaking is a spit in the face to her heritage, but I strongly disagree (to avoid leading this into an off-topic debate, I will just leave it at I strongly disagree that her choice to temporarily cut a French song from her show is abhorrent. I feel quite the opposite. But, you can feel free to PM me on the topic. However, I am not going to respond to it further here, because I do not want to get us in trouble for having this thread get off topic ).To be clear, I do love her French songs! If it were up to me, she would have more than one in her show!! I wish she would do an entire medley of French songs!!! But, I do not fault her for cutting that one French song, and do not see that choice as insulting. I would imagine the cut is just temporary, and she will add a French song (I am sure her team is aware that some of her fans have strong feelings on this issue). That all being said, that's what is so great about opinions: I feel strongly one way, you feel strongly the other, I am sure if we could get a few more opinions, everyone would have a variation in their feelings and/or a different opinion altogether! So, honestly, do not worry. I did not take you quoting me personally and I did not feel singled out (but, thanks just the same for clarifying that you were not singling me out)! I do not think it is artistic laziness. But, again that's just me. In light of things she had to balance at this time, both personally and professionally, l do not view a lack of change at this point in time as artistic laziness. However, I do agree with you in that I would think just swapping out one song would not be that difficult given the caliber of people working with her. I do hope there are changes in the show at least by spring. I also agree with you that people have to stop relying on "insiders." If a person is willing to release information to fans, you should question just how "inside" they are on the decisions making process. I agree with you, until something official is announced or said by someone from her team, I wouldn't get too excited. I am optimistic based on the rumors, but I wouldn't bet on anything happening for certain. Since this is the changes to the show thread, I will just reiterate that I hope there are changes, and I would LOVE it if the changes were more French songs! JuliaMarie Posted July 31, 2014 at 06:57 AM Posted July 31, 2014 at 06:57 AM S'il suffisait d'aimer is a very challenging song, she was not feeling good last night, I am certain that is the reason why she left it out. On the other hand she might have just wanted to rehearse the song for her performance with the children's choirs... Either way, I agree, there NEEDS to be a francophone song in the program. I had tickets for next week Tuesday and Wednesday, very disappointed that the shows were cancelled but very understanding as well. Hope she gets well fast, I will go see her later this month. 2 Quote

It's a whole organisation with a LOT of layers. Each (proposed) change has to go through ALL these layers... and back....and again... and again. If it were up to the orchestra members, the band, or even Mego, changes would've be done faster, but it isn't up to them. Like I said, a lot of different parties (that's just the way THEY work, unfortunately) are involved and have their say. As well as different departments (audio, video, lighting, choreography, etc.). And then René's sickness (and it's impact) haven't been taken into account yet, which in this case was a HUGE setback to changes in her Vegas show (which were to happen back in Feb this year) as well as her promoting activities for 'Loved Me Back To Life'. I totally agree with you. But with the way "team Céline" is working I can understand why some things take much longer then it can be. So again, changes are definately coming (as her band & orchestra have been rehearsing new stuff), but implementing changes [in this show] takes time. 2 Quote »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» MATHIAS ««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzPrxI0AIDY

You can't compare a slick Vegas show like "Céline" to a DMB concert. Céline's show has an orchestra so it requires quite a bit of rehearsal to add a song - even if they are "best in class musicians". Also, to CUT a song is equally as challenging as the show is choreographed and there are hundreds of lighting and video cues. This isn't just a "lights up" "lights down" show. To think she could easily replace "At Seventeen" with "Have You Ever Been In Love" at the drop of a hat is pretty preposterous if you ask me. The orchestra would need to rehearse, a new lighting design would need to be created, a new video projection would need to be created, Céline would need to rehearse since she hasn't sung the song live in 10-11 years. Let's be realistic here. Also, if she's been sick, it's not surprising that she wouldn't want to debut the new version of the show until she was in top shape.
